What is Development? Many people use the terms “growth” and “development” interchangeably. In reality they are different, though they are inseparable; neither takes place alone. Growth refers to quantitative changes – increases in size and structure. Not only does the child grows larger physically, but the size and structure of the internal organs and the brain increase. As a result of the growth of the brain, the child has a greater capacity for learning, for remembering, and for reasoning. He grows mentally as well as physically. Development, by contrast, refers to qualitative changes. It may be defined as a progressive series of orderly, coherent changes. “Progressive “signifies that the changes are directional, that they lead forward rather than backward. “Orderly” and “coherent” suggest that there is a definite relationship between the given stage and the stages which precede or follow it. As Anderson has emphasized, “Nor is development merely a matter of adding inches to stature, or ability to ability; instead, it is a complex process of integrating many structures and functions”. Because of this integration, each change is dependent upon what preceded it, and it, in turn, affects what will come after. (Elizabeth Murlock...

Remember that your abstract is a description of your project and not a description of your topic. It is easy to get these two types of description confused. Since abstracts are generally very short, it’s important that you don’t get bogged down in a summary of the entire background of your topic (Locker, 1997). In this paper’s abstract, the rationale, statement of the problem, research questions, thesis statement, method and design, sampling technique, and instruments employ in this paper are stated. As what is frequently observed, modern devices are often used in different ways. Good thing about this is that it is used for studies, and so bring advantages to the studies of the students. However, there are still disadvantages being bring by these devices. These are also supported by past studies and literatures, local and foreign, and even environmental issue. To verify what are the general effects of these devices to the studies of the student particularly Bachelor of Science in Accountancy students, I, the researcher, make a research which may be helpful to the students, parents and other stakeholders...

Some are born there. Others just end up there. And many don’t want to be found. It’s a complex and diverse problem – and one that some people don’t even acknowledge exists. But whatever their story, Aviva believes in standing up for these street children. That’s why, over the last four years, we’ve helped more than half a million of them through our Street to School initiative. Our response To explore how we can work with others to do even more for street children, we held a roundtable discussion in South east Asia on 10–11 December 2013. The event was attended by 32 different organisations including the United Nations, UNICEF, Save the Children and the Consortium for Street Children, as well as representatives from governments and global business. To build momentum before and during the event, Aviva businesses around the world united behind the hashtag #togetherforstreetkids on social media. This encourages like-minded organisations, celebrities and roundtable attendees to promote the campaign and contribute to the discussion. Aviva also partnered with Adidas Group, HSBC, the Body Shop, Kuoni, Microsoft and CSR Asia to report on how businesses in Asia are helping to protect the rights of vulnerable children – see Joining...

...one’s horizon. Students learn to relate well and manage people, work in teams, and hone their skills and develop their ability to its maximum potential. Attending college is indeed a preparation to the actual work that one must experience. It is a journey that young people need to undertake in order to be ready to face the challenges of life. It is one of the developmental tasks that they must overcome successfully. Education and multiple skills enhancement have become the principal vehicles in the creation of sustainable advantage in the competitive world market. Poor academic performance has been implicated as one of the major factors for adolescents to have poor self-esteem (Call et al, 1990, cited by Isaac et al., 2006). These individuals do not have the passion and motivation to persevere in their studies. They could not see what lies ahead and what they will be expected to do when they reach their next stage of development. Consequently, they are confused academically and hoping to have a guide who will help them in this moment of personal and academic struggles. Hurlock (2000) also pointed out that academic performance is one of the developmental tasks adolescents need to accomplish, successful achievement of which leads to happiness and success with later tasks, while failure leads to unhappiness and difficulty. In this connection, the researchers would tend to believe that tourism students have disadvantage when it comes to their academic preparation unless...

The construct of the self-perception is now considered to be a major outcome of Education, childhood, socialization and child rearing practices as well as influencing consequent response to those influences (Burns 1982). Azikiwe (1998) describes the study habit as “the adopted way and manner a student plans his private readings, after classroom...
