My Successful Goal One of my greatest successes that I’ve every accomplished was, helping my old high school track team win the regions. The obstacle’s I had to overcome for me to help my team get the win was for me to go to practice after physical therapy because my knee was messed up from playing basketball. The reason I say this because I was playing basketball before track season started and I had a bad knee injury just a little bit. So I had to go to physical therapy to help strengthen my knee back to its full health. I also had to work mighty hard on my events which were 1600 meter run and the 800 meter run. The way I practice for these events was by running two laps in the beginning of practice very slowly to maintain things with my knee. Than I did my excises to losing up my body. Next I ran the bleachers to strengthen my leg muscles. Finally I ran my 1600 meter run, took me a two minute break. Then I stated my 800 meter run and I did this frequently until the big day came. As well as going to my physical therapy to make things go smooth before for my big day. When the big day came my teammates and me where a little bit nerves that day to, but we pulled it together. We went out there and did what we had to do to get the win. When it was time for me to run my team was a little cheerful for me as I ran my races that day. Eventually everything that I did helped, we got the win and it paid off in the end.

My Choices

...Choice of Ending the Cycle Lawrence Miller Jr. Composition I Instructor Hewlett April 25, 2015 When does the cycle come to an end? Better yet do I start the process to change the cycle? I sit for days on end, trying to collect my thoughts of what I picture my life would be like, rather than the images of my childhood. Images of my mother being beaten by my father, will forever be a stained memory in my brain. Missing out on growing up with my siblings, because of the choices I made. The only solution my mother could come to was sending me away. This cycle of being a deadbeat father, uneducated, abusive and alcoholic now I was carrying the burden on my shoulders. Being in Control

...blaming others for our mistakes and/or choices; we can accept responsibility for our own lives. In my opinion, personal responsibility is the key not only to college success, but in life as well. As an adult, I reflect back to the teachings of my childhood. I was taught not only personal responsibility, but also how to plan ahead, make conscious-ethical decisions, and manage my time wisely. One of the most important ways to accomplish success, whether it be college or personal, is managing time effectively. Once it is gone, there is no way to get more, there is no reset button and you cannot turn the clocks back. As a student and mother, I think about the endless possibilities of college success and make rational decisions to achieve my goals. The time and effort I contribute to my responsibilities and priorities will determine success. Therefore, I approach time and responsibilities as if I am in control. “Too many students are showing up on campus under-prepared for college; in fact, with scarcely any idea why they are there in the first place” (Long, J. 2010). Instead, most students are more overwhelmed with organizing their dorm rooms, pledging for a sorority or fraternity, and going to parties. For these students, college is a culture shock and it becomes more about fitting in and being known rather than about education, attending classes and maintaining good grades. “And, for most of them, four years later they are handed a diploma, perhaps only barely more educated than...

Personal Responsibility Is the Fuel for College Success

...the Fuel for College Success Although many people attend universities and colleges, not everyone has a successful college experience. Success in college relies on many things. Dedication, a positive attitude, and good time management skills are just a few of requirements for a successful college experience, but without the one most important component, college success is not possible. The most important component in the equation for s successful college experience is personal responsibility. Personal responsibility is necessary for college success. An example of a car can be used to demonstrate college success. A car may have all of the necessary components to run; an engine, transmission, wheels, etc., but without fuel, the car will go nowhere. No matter how good all of the parts of the car seem to be, without fuel, the car will not move. In the case of college success, personal responsibility is the fuel. Just as a car goes nowhere without fuel, college success cannot happen without personal responsibility. A college student may have everything they need for college; the course schedule, the syllabus for the class, study materials, a laptop computer, even a positive attitude, good time management skills, and dedication, but without personal responsibility to tie those all together, the student will not be successful in college. Goals to Success

...Philosophy of Success With every success story there will always be struggles and obstacles to get to the place we call “success”. Becoming successful is hard work and does not happen overnight. In order to achieve success you must always have a strict plan and goal to achieve your goals. Everyone has their own strategy to achieve success and I am no different. I am very methodical when it comes to figuring things out, I must always have a plan, especially when it comes to something important to me. First I start by making a lists of steps to concur my goal, what I like to call my achievement list, second I Organize my list into a visual representation, and lastly I work on myself and mold myself into a better person mentally and physically to not only achieve my goal of success, but to preserve and maintain it, so I do not lose what I tried so hard to get. With these three main success strategies I not only will reach my goals but I will do it with flying colors. When tackling a big goal or something I want to succeed in, what I first do, is think it out and create a very detailed and strong step by step plan to affectively obtain it. When I first got hired working at BJ’s I wanted to start as waiter right off the bat, but being brand new to the restaurant business I had no experience so I had to start at the lowest level position, Busser. Now knowing what I wanted and what to expect to get to that point is what I needed to know so, I devised my “Achievement List”. This list...

Entreprenuership

...Entrepreneurs must address three important aspects before starting a new venture. They should have clearly defined goals, a sound strategy and should check the feasibility whether the plan is executable or not. If entrepreneurs have clear goals they will be passionate about them, which greatly enhances their chances to succeed. The next action steps are always in lined with keeping the goal in mind. For example, the action steps might differ if someone wants to get into the restaurant business as compared to someone who wants to start his/her own clothing line. If the entrepreneur does not have a clear goal then he/she cannot formulate a successful business plan and strategy. While setting goals, entrepreneurs should set both long term and short term goals. For instance, short term goal of an entrepreneur might be to start a small restaurant specializing in serving a particular type of cuisine. The long term goal of the entrepreneur must help him/her to decide whether he/she wants to develop a chain of restaurants across locations specializing in serving the same type of cuisine or to transform the same restaurant into a multi-cuisine restaurant. The entrepreneur must also decide whether he/she wants to own the restaurant in the future or sell it at a handsome price earning larger profits and move on. The entrepreneur also needs to decide whether he/she plans to generate immediate higher revenues by setting the prices high during the initial stages or alternatively gain a loyal...

Gen 200 Personal Responsibiity

...responsibility will keep some people from achieving goals and dreams. Personal responsibility creates the foundation for success, successful behaviors, and not being dependent on others for success. Some people will blame other individuals or circumstances that may arise instead of their deficient level of personal responsibility for their lack of success. Three main components of personal responsibility that are the core to achieving academic success are time management, stress management, and health. Without following these few key points academics can be more of a challenge than it should be. Taking responsibility for one’s actions is the first step towards building a solid foundation for one’s success. It is likely that one will make some wrong choices, but it is in making wrong decisions that create opportunities to learn valuable lessons. When one admits to being wrong, it creates a vulnerability that is needed to grow in decision-making. Being honest is what will set one free to be able to learn more about one’s self and to become better. Ellis (2011) found “ The principle of telling the truth is applied universally by people who want to turn their lives around” (p. 25). All of these self-evaluation practices will be ineffective without taking action. It is like having a combination to a lock and never using the combination to open that lock. Action is what creates opportunity and only then will results be seen. Creating successful behaviors is necessary if one plans on maintaining...

...ones own personal goals? Success to me can mean many things. Although I am successful in school, that does not necessarily mean I will lead a successful life. Success to me is setting personal goals, and following through with them. Whether you achieve your desired result or not, you have succeeded just by trying. Everyone’s vision of success differs. Success takes many different definitions. People have different interpretations of what success really means. For me is as simple as: living well and laughing often. The idea of living well is a very broad statement. Living well, in my opinion is getting success in personal, social and professional life. If I can achieve all of these three levels of success, I believe that I have lived well. Personal success for me is being able enjoy little things that life has to offer. For instance; understanding and appreciating diversity. To have someone to love and treasure, to meet the right person, fall in love, and get marry. To feel that I’m able to love my child and pass on wisdom to him .Feeling that someone loves me, is something that makes me completely happy and successful. Personal Goals Paper

...Personal Goals Paper Success begins with goal-setting. Without goals, there is a lack of focus and direction. Many people will often avoid setting goals because it seems too hard. Goal setting is about more than just thinking about them, it is about putting thoughts down on paper to see them. This makes goal setting much easier, especially when writing the goals down is what motivates each individual person. Goal writing must be in time frames, and must be measurable, and at the very least, doable. Setting unrealistic goals can result in the abandonment of all goals; therefore, a good plan needs to be laid-out on paper. This leads to successful goals. Hence, successful goal setting begins with good time management, identifying early potential barriers, and acquiring the needed skills to accomplish each goal. Good time management is the key to successful goal setting and achievement. Taking the time to create, tweak, add, delete or reconstitute goals is the biggest deterrent, and also the largest component for success in goal setting. According to O’Neill (2000), goals need to be set. Writing goals down on a piece of paper can go a long way. Goals should be specific. This means knowing who is involved, what to accomplish, and where it would take place. Next, goals should be measurable. When time frames are met, milestones should be measured and celebrated or reconstructed with a new time frame in mind. Goals should also be timely. A time frame of when a goal should be accomplished...
