Summary of the Aspects of Communication Technology
Communications technology is the activity of designing and constructing and maintaining of communication systems. Engineering technology is the practical application of science to commerce or industry. Digital communication technology is the design and construction of communications technology that transmits information in digital form. Communication technology helps us in many ways. Communication Technology can broadcast information to a wide range of people around the world in a short period of time, this is very useful for advertisements, conveying important messages to wide range of audiences and updating citizens of current news. Communication nowadays can even be accessible from anywhere as long as the device can connect to the internet and there is internet coverage in that area. Communication Technology has been improving and developing since the first television was born, many ideas and suggestion of what the future will look like with the continuous development on communication technology. Avery interesting example of the advancement on communication technology is a device called Sixth Sense technology.
The Advantages of CT .It presents a means for fast long-distance communication. It is good for business because they can set up shop online, Social networking and virtual living grant a more comfortable way of socialising to those with social drawbacks such as awkwardness or disability, Cost effectiveness-it feels free to send a email, it`s cheaper than phone calls, Education-Computers along with their programs and the internet have created educational opportunities not available to previous generations.
Some of the Disadvantages include the reduced social interaction that occurs due to increased use of communication technology can result in lack of social learning, Internet addiction is a huge problem, especially in South Korea where there are over 210,000 children and People are spending several hours of life on technology without neglecting the important aspects of life.
Communication technology is used hugely by people all over the world.ICT permeates family life, especially for married couples with minor children, says a Pew Internet survey. ICT helps today`s busy families stay connected with each other. Parents can check in with their kids at all times to see where they are and what they are doing. They may seem like a good thing but little do we realise how much it is affecting people as a family, individuals etc.
Technology today is keeping families apart and they don’t even realise it. Nobody in the house is able to interact face to face. It is because of social media that people are able to communicate i.e. .in the living room there is a TV on and a parent is on a laptop in the bedroom or in an office. Everyone else is on their phone texting or waiting for a text or email to come in. It shows that the family are physically together but they aren’t focused on communicating with each other.
Before people that worked were able to get up in the morning and have their mug of coffee on the way to their work place. Again, because of the new invention of technology people today don’t necessarily have to walk to work or drive, because technology have grown so much people now work at home
Which would make it hard for a family in a way, because the internet usage interferes with working productively, as well as it reduces our ability to read anything longer than a few paragraphs. We all love the internet but little do we realise how much it has affected us both mentally and physically. People are signing up to different types of social networks like facebook, Instagram, Viber WhatsApp etc, and we are getting too addicted to it.
Social Media is also causing trouble as well because of people hacking and sharing personal information with each other. In ways that it can be private, people are able to secure their accounts that they have signed up for others share their personal information with people publically.
Privacy:P rivacy involves the control of personal information is central to many social concerns raised by new information technologies. There are atleast 10 reasons why privacy and anonymity are important.
Security: Secure communication is when two entitles are communicating and do not what a third party to listen in. It includes means by which people can share information with varying degrees of certainty that third parties cannot intercept what was said. Other that spoken face to face communication with no possible eavesdropper.
Data protection act: This is a place where people are able to seek privacy and know that the data is save to used, therefore meaning that it is protected so that information isn’t noticing. If a company/person(s) would like to receive information about a certain customers the rules and regulations must be taken into consideration.
Freedom of information act: The Freedom of Information Act 2014 provides the following statutory right: A legal right for each person to access information held by a body to which FOI legislation applies. A legal right for each person to have official information relating to him/her amended where it is incomplete, incorrect or misleading.
Copyright act:
Irish copy right is subject to EU directive, most of the provisions of which were transposed into Irish law under the Copyright and Related Act 2000. Irish copyright law was bought into further compliance with EU directive by the amendment act European Communities (Copyright and Related Rights) Regulations 2004. Safety, Health and welfare act:
Provide and maintain a safe workplace that used safe plant and equipment. It prevents the risk from use of any article pr substance and from exposure to physical agents, raise and vibration.
The duties of employers to protect this act include taking reasonable care to protect the health and safety of themselves and other people in the workplace. Report any defects in the workplace oe work equipment that might be a danger to health and safety.
