Midterm Paper: Essay Questions

1. Describe (3) three African (Ancient or Medieval) civilizations that pre-date enslavement?
Kush, Axum, and Ghana are three Ancient African civilizations that pre-date enslavement. The Kush civilization started in 1700 BC, where it reached its first peak. Its second peak dated to 1500 BC. The Kingdom of the Kush was also known as Nubia. It is located south of Egypt and was built at the bottom of the mountains, beginning at the Nile River. The Kush kingdom was exceptionally wealthy with many natural resources. They had gold mines, iron ore, and rich soil. Their soil was rich due to the ample amount of rainfall they had all year long, which kept all of the natural resources fresh and growing. Many kingdoms were jealous of the Kush’s wealth and prosperity, and wanted to take it over, but the Kush did now allow it to happen. The “Iron Age” was when iron ore was at its peak and every kingdom wanted it to make weapons and tools. Kush was the center of the iron trade in ancient Africa. Burnt wood was needed to produce iron from ore and because wood was running out, the Kush had to trade other goods. The Kush was the reason for the Trans- Saharan Trade Route. In 750 CE, the Kush used camels and camel trains to cross the sand. They knew it was a miserable and dangerous journey, but knew it could be done. Attention was then turned to trade with West Africa, starting the beginning of the Trans- Saharan Trade Route.
The Axum civilization, also known as Aksum, dated from 100 BC to 700 AD. The capital of the Kingdom of Axum is in modern- day Ethiopia. Axum’s kingdom was very successful in their maritime trade and naval power. Axum royalty was believed to descend from King Solomon. The son of King Solomon, Menelik, brought the Ark of

...their office, as well as property management company known as BREMCO (Brownsville Real Estate Management Company) on site.  Reality, Inc. is interested in knowing if the southmost area of Brownsville can support a possible branch office. The real estate firm is well established in the other areas of the city, but feels that the Southmost area has a growing potential as a source of other business.  The only main limitation of the expansion, and the study, is the fact that the Southmost is predominantly Spanish speaking and traditional with regards to the buying and selling of a home. The language barrier would require that any business conducted out of a branch office in this area be conducted in Spanish; therefore, a real estate salesman located in this area would need to be fluent in Spanish. The traditional factor of the Southmost area is that people tend not to trust outsiders, especially with their homes and money. In order to be successful in this area, the real estate salesman would need to gain the trust of the people he or she will be dealing with. The analysis of the market through this market study plan is crucial...

Moore House Construction

...moderate, Moore House is considering agreeing to complete a new home every 45 days building a total of 6 homes. Countryside has also decided to include a strict penalty if the contractors fail to deliver a home within the 45 day time period. Moore House has completed a time line of events in which they hope all homes will be completed. The contractors need to be confident they can complete the job within the allotted amount of time otherwise they are going to raise the bid on the building of the 6 houses in order to cover potential penalties. As of now, the penalty holds no exception to bad weather or unexpected delays. Moore House Contractors must now determine the scenario which will bring about the greatest length of time, if they should increase their bid to cover penalties, and determine which areas of the project may require more time and resources. Background Construction groups must have clear deadlines with precise scheduling in order to complete projects in a timely fashion according to the agreed contract. While delays are to be expected and can hinder the progress of any project, in order to keep the client happy, a construction group must take these delays into consideration of the original contract. Moore House contractors is in the situation of determining a more distinct timeline in order to complete the agreement of building a home every 45 days with a total of 6 homes (i.e. 270 days to build 6 homes). ...and what is there performance there. 2.1 INTRODUCATION OF THE SYUDY Decision about housing is among the most important financial decision most of the people ever have to make. Buying a home is a major commitment, and home payments take a big chunk of the family budget. In 1970s, home payments took about one-quarter of a family’s take-home pay. People bring about 1/3rd of their salary to their home now. Home ownership has a number of advantages over renting. Mortgage payments are like “force savings”, making one’s house an investment, not just a place to live. He may have better quality of life if he buys instead of renting.
