Bill Watts was kind enough to allow me to interview him about ATP; Mr. Watts is ATP’s Controller. As Controller Mr. Watts oversees all the companies operations from the bid to the finished project. ATP’s mission statement is as follows; “ATP is a full-service asphalt paving contractor providing San Diego’s construction industry with an eco-friendly alternative to conventional methods of asphalt concrete mixtures, production and lay-down. ...Recycled Asphalt Product?? Basically R.A.P. is old asphalt that is ground into gravel that hardens/binds together when compacted. The best gravel to leave exposed for a long time is R.A.P. (Recycled Asphalt Product), a great product on any driveway, parking area or lane. There are three key requirements that must be satisfied for asphalt pavement recycling to be successful. Recycled asphalt pavements must: 1. Be cost effective, 2. Be environmentally responsible, and 3. Perform well. In 2007, the FHWA Office of Pavement Technology initiated an Expert Task Group (ETG) on the use of RAP in the construction and rehabilitation of flexible pavements for highways and roads. The ETG is comprised of experts on the use of RAP in asphalt paving mixtures from State DOTs, FHWA, the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA), and National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT). The purpose of the ETG is to advance the use of RAP in asphalt paving applications by providing highway agencies with critical information regarding the use of RAP, technical guidance on high-RAP projects, and direction on research activities. JetBlue needs to reemphasize its strategic planning dealing with delay causing situations. For JetBlue to a successful company, it needs to reevaluate its emergency preparedness plans. The Bill of Rights that was released after the events that occurred on Valentine’s Day is only a partial solution to the big problem. We know that Congress passed the law where passengers cannot sit on the tarmac for more than 3 hours, so that whole issue with having the passengers sit on the tarmac for 5 hours was totally unacceptable. Customer satisfaction is one of the primary bases of JetBlue airlines and for any airlines for that matter. They should take more emphasis in this area for sure. No passenger wants to wait on an idle plane for more than an hour, and loosing passengers’ baggage because JetBlue did not have a computerized system in place for recording and tracking lost bags. The reservation system defiantly needs to be updated. The reservation system was not expanded enough to meet the extreme customer call volume. Since most of their agents work from home, the system that they used also needed to be updated to handle the call volume. That should be a priority for the airlines.
