Heronsbridge School has a motto that declares ‘together we can’. Each member of staff and pupil must trust in this motto to promote well-being. The school obeys numerous legislations set out by the local authority who also work with the school to certify the policies are relevant to the school setting and to the pupils it accommodates. By creating policies around the needs of the pupils and not just creating generic ones allows the school to ensure equality, diversity, inclusion, and discrimination is the primary concern. These procedures have a legal backing in law and have been endorsed locally by the Western Bay Safeguarding Children’s Board and the Local Authority.
**Religious Education Policy allows each pupil to practice their chosen religion without judgement. Pupils and parents have the right to refuse from partaking in religious activities. Teachers also have the right to refuse to teach anything they are not comfortable with, with regards to religion. Religious education is revisited during all Key Stages to enable a deeper level of learning and understanding which will support prior knowledge. This policy is revisited every twelve months to ensure up to date relevance and effective learning.
