...when I started to think about why Andrews used drinking tea to describe a man’s sexual desires, the depth of the poem changed entirely. In the middle of the poem, the man tries to follow the instructions on the drinking of tea but fails to because he constantly imagines making love with a woman. This was my favorite part of the poem. Although he says that he failed to follow the instructions, I think he was doing it perfectly. When you take your first sip from the first cup of tea, the liquid moistens your lips and surrounds your mouth with warmth and comfort, just like a kiss that the man was picturing. “She lifts him to her lips like a china cup and sips so slowly.” So he knows what the art of drinking tea is but decides to become to teacup so that the lady can kiss him. Nin Andrews also used tea to show a sense of addiction. In tea, there is a bit of caffeine, which allows the drinkers to crave more of it. In the poem, the man seems to be addicted to his imagination that he barely remembers his own name. Although there weren’t enough information about the author, I personally think that this poem of hers was slightly influenced by a poem written by a Chinese poet, Lu Tong, of Tang Dynasty. “The first cup moistens my lips and throat. The second cup breaks my loneliness. The third cup searches my barren entrails but to find therein some thousand volumes of odd ideographs. The fourth cup raises a slight perspiration – all...

...Kahlúa licor de café appears as an ad in an August 1989 Life magazine. The first object one lays his/her eyes on is a glass bowl filled with a perfectly round and creamy vanilla ice-cream scoop that is being doused by a cascade of Kahlúa. The Kahlúa has a syrupy look to it as it smoothly runs down the side of the ice-cream. Behind the bowl lies a glimmering silver spoon, and to the left of the bowl sits a flower stained glass bowl of nuts. To the right of the spoon is the bottle of the Kahlúa which is brown with a red label near the top that says imported from sunny Mexico. The bottle also has a yellow label with “Kahlúa” in red and directly below it has the words Hecho En Mexico Licor De Café which translates into Made in Mexico and coffee flavored liquor. Under this is a drawing of a Mexican city which has one palm tree on the left, one cloud in the back, a dirt road in the center, buildings to the left and right of the road, and in the bottom right hand corner there is a man with a sombrero. The words and the drawing are encased by a white entryway. Behind the bowl of nuts there is a statue made of stone. Everything behind it is blurred but one can tell that there is a white chair in the background with the wallpaper having a pink flower and green stem pattern. The ad itself looks as if you are looking through someone’s window at a bottle of Kahlúa. At the top of the advertisement there is one phrase in white which is: Everything it touches turns delicious. Below the glass...

...Billy shifted uncomfortably, clenching the teacup tightly. "How could that be? Such a cheap place for such a nice place..." He looked up to the Landlady, muttering the lingering question with mild confusion. "It's quite a long tale, I'm afraid. I'm not sure that you have the time, Mr. Weaver," the Landlady deflected the question, giving him an apologetic smile, her eyes filled with sympathy. She bit her lip, tapping the side of the cup as she sat, perhaps deep in thought. "Miss? I'm not understanding what you mean by that, unfortunately." Billy kept his gaze locked on the woman, the situation at hand was becoming more and more curious and mysterious. "I believe I have enough time, madame." With a sigh, the Landlady stood up, setting...

...com/2010/01/pet-industry-trends-for-2010.html Pet Industry Trends for 2010 2010 Trends | January 14, 2010 | By Laura Bennett | Surprise, surprise – the impact of the recession on consumer spending and attitudes will continue to dominate economics for pet-related small businesses in 2010. It has long been thought that pet-related spending is recession proof and 2009 certainly tested that theory. As a result, I think we can certainly say the pet category is at least recession resistant, with pet-related sales growing slightly in 2009. There aren’t too many categories that can say that in this difficult economic environment! The overall trend continues to be value for money, which doesn’t necessarily mean spending less, but less frivolously. Pet-related spending will continue to increase from 2009 levels though as pet owners breathe a sigh of relief that the world didn’t end in 2009. Trends include: 1. Pet parents continue to spend on supplies and OTC medicine thoughtfully Spending on pet supplies and over-the-counter medicines was projected to increase 5.1% in 2008 from $9.8 billion to $10.3 billion according to the American Pet Products Association (APPA) but it turned out to be more modest growth of 2% to $10.0 billion, a major slow down from the 6+% increases of the recent past. The APPA projects continued growth of 2% in 2010, although I would not be surprised if it bounced a little higher in the range of 4%. People will continue to spend above and beyond on their pets as the...

...Choosing the Right Pet for My Child ENG121 Composition I 6 August 2010 Choosing the Right Pet for My Child Choosing a pet can be a very challenging and difficult process. There are many things to consider before you can really choose the perfect pet. Pet type would be my first consideration. Other things to think about include how frequently the animal will have to visit the vet, whether there is a family member or friends that have pet allergies, and whether you want an animal that is a house pet, or if you want a pet that will stay in a cage or outside. Pet types to be considered are dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, reptiles and small animals like gerbils and hamsters. The most popular pet types are dogs and cats. In any case, choosing a pet should never be taken lightly. When considering a pet type, safety should be a major factor in that decision making process. A dog or a cat would be a perfect pet for my family. Either could easily fit my family’s life-style. Dogs have always been considered man’s best friend. Cats on the other hand are very playful; they are not demanding, they are affectionate and they can be your best friend too. Family interaction with a pet is very important. Dogs have to be walked daily. Many people love to walk their dog. It gives the owner the opportunity to exercise and enjoy it. Cats do not have to be walked. They are self sustaining. That is great for the very busy owner. Dogs come in different sizes. A dog’s size can range...

...Decision Making Process The decision making process for a manager can be quite difficult. There are many times throughout a manager’s career where vital decisions must be made, and a solid plan of action is necessary to carry out the objectives those decisions have set in motion. The example which I have chosen to share involves important decisions made for the business that I own and operate with my wife. The business that my wife and I own provided products and services for pets and their owners. When we first started our business we had a diverse line of hand-made pet products from dog and cat treats, custom pet beds, pet toys, and other pet products. The services that we offered ranged from all levels of dog training to pet sitting, etc. The division of responsibility set my wife as the sole service and product provider while I was responsible for all accounting, marketing, advertising, and production assistance. After the first year of conducting business, the service side of the business was steady during certain parts of the year, and we were beginning to see more interest in our product line. Although we were seeing growth, the problems of time management, and production costs became more apparent. Many products of ours were very time consuming and the raw materials needed were expensive. The services provided gave us revenue with low cost for materials, but the service demand was inconsistent and managing production became difficult. At this point I began questioning...

...Whether it’s on mortal land or in God’s great big grand stand, life must go on. Most of us had pets throughout our life. We can remember the snappy zip of a young feisty cat or the constant ambush of an out of control wagging tail from a K9 friend. Grover Cleveland, the elderly dying dog from Lying Doggo was this wondrous memory for the character Nancy. Grover was a remembrance of times past. He was the milestone of a 15 year marriage. Nancy reminisced about meeting Grover, when he was pup. Calm, and endearing yet very striking, Grover was. She knew him before she had meet her husband and Grover’s owner, Jack. Grover was a well know chap around her college campus when she was younger. Grover, like a decorated war general, led Nancy to Jack. Now that Grover is passing to God’s hands, these memories are awe inspiring. The decision to let him go until the almighty calls or give him an early pass to the heavens is not an easy choice. ...You should invest in my company, “Shady Dogs”, because our pets deserve the same protection that we would provide our children or ourselves. During those rainy days, it’s more difficult to take our pets on a walk because they always return home wet, and the smell of “wet dog” plus the mess that ensues creates more work for us in our already busy lives. Instead of bringing home your cold, wet dog, you can now buy them the protection they’ve been waiting for. With the simple design of a walking harness that many of us are already accustomed to, my product has the added benefit of an attached umbrella to shade and protect our four legged friends from harsh environmental elements. This patent pending design allows even weight distribution so that the umbrella harness can be comfortably worn on the animal's back. You can even use our device during the hot summer months to shield from the damaging effects of the sun’s harmful rays. Of course, we offer these umbrella harnesses in different sizes and colors because no dog is too big or too small to be left out in the rain. They range from $20-$35 depending on the size of the dog and are available in all major retail pet stores. The cost to produce each harness ranges from $4-$6 so there is plenty of room for profit. We have already sold 100,000 units this year and project 250,000 in the upcoming year. We are also developing additional products to grow our business and are looking for investors to aid in production and development...

I personally enjoy educating our pet owners and taking the time to help them through very frustrating times. The Gilbert Arizona office is where your calls are forwarded if your local office is closed so that a technician can help you 6 days a week. We also have to be the one that runs into the exam room to get vitals which include that dreaded thermometer. We set catheters, draw blood and urine samples, perform injections, clean our fuzzy friends ears no matter how bad they get, and many other job tasks on a daily basis. ...Loyalty is a noble quality that is found not only in human beings, but also in pet animals, such as dogs, horses or elephants. The word 'loyalty' means 'fidelity to law' which is generally applicable in the case of the Sovereign of the State. But in its broader sense, it means one's steadfastness in allegiance to a person or cause, or to one's country or sovereign. Loyalty involves obedience, sacrifice and compassion of the heart. Loyalty is a very broad term which may be applicable in case of one's family, locality or the country. A loyal person is ready to sacrifice even his own life for the sake of his master, friend, relative or the country. A loyal person bears a moral character, honest outlook, and disciplined manners. A truly loyal man cannot be bribed or tempted to deviate from his own path. He is like a stone pillar which is firm and strong to stand any force that may try to penetrate through it. He is absolutely dependable in all circumstances of life. In this world, there are only a few instances of loyal personalities, who are well-known. In those days, some of the kings and emperors were lucky to have certain loyal commanders who fought for their kingdom and saved their masters again and again from the hands of the enemies, even at the cost of their own lives. Loyalty is common among the courageous soldiers and servants. There are also instances of pet animals, such as dogs, horses or elephants, who, out of loyalty, gave their lives for the interest...

...Dogs are much better friends to the average person than cats could ever be. Cats and dogs both make a good pets depending on the individuals life style. The dog is a lot more social with their owner than a cat is with their owner. Dogs love to please their owner in all kinds of ways, and cats just wants to be pleased by their owner. Dogs can be train much faster and easier than a cat could be trained. Many people have a pet at home. The typical house pet is ether a cat or a dog, and some times people have both cats and dogs. I believe that a cat is a better choose if a person lives in an apartment because cats get patty train much faster, as wall as they don’t need that much space. I also believe that the dogs are more suited for a person that has a house because most dogs need to get out and exercise and play. If a person is looking for there first pet they need to consider their living situation, before choosing between a cat and a dog. Dogs are much more social with people than cats are. Dogs either want to be petted or play with you, such as playing fetch or tug-a-war. If dogs aren’t playing with you they are most likely laying close by if not even in your lad, depending on the size of the dog. On the other hand cats are most likely in the other room sleeping because they typical want to be left alone or get upset by load noises, and people that they don’t know. You may only see them two or three times a day, unless you go looking for them. All dogs want to do is to...

...through training. The training the dogs are put through to become fighting dogs is harsh, and reaches the point of cruelty. Owners put dogs on steroids, by the time the dogs are ready to fight they are very unhealthy and malnourished. This new hobby is animal cruelty, and it is ethically wrong. Ethical issues are abundant in the United States; future generations, along with our present generation, will not understand how society allowed this abuse to occur. Animals were created for the protection and survival of humans; they provide food and a defense against harm towards humans. Over centuries individuals have brought animals into our homes and trained them to live as pets. Today, most owners treat their pets as if they were a human being, or a child of their own. Animals today, for the majority, are seen as pets; it is hard to understand why anyone in this society would harm animals in any way. Animal abuse should be treated as a criminal act; cruelty towards animals should not be tolerated in this century or any future date. The occurrence of these events is largely unfair to these dogs that have no say or control in what purpose their owners use them for. Even though...
