...A Life of a Teenager I would of never thought that my early childhood into late childhood be the way that it was and me turning out to be Ok. I made many dreams of going to school to make something of myself, like being a model and a lawyer, but the way we plan our future doesn’t always work that way. In this paper I will tell you a little more about myself and how I became the strong women I am today. My life growing up was a tough path to travel. Learning and developing adulthood in my childhood was very tough. Although I think of my family as a little dysfunctional I do remember some good times. I remember when I was in the 4th grade (about 9 years old) we lived in West Virginia about 20 min from my grandparents. Every weekend we would go there to have lunch or just to see if my grandparents would need us to do anything for them. On Sunday’s we would all go to church with them, my grandparent are faithful church goers, after church we would meet at my grandparents house to fix a big lunch. Some friends of the family would join us; the kids would play in the yard. I can remember many of the weekends, I would stay to help them, mainly because I didn’t want to home. I remember, one summer we all help build an apartment over their garage for my great grandmother, because she no longer could live by herself. My parents, I mean my mother and step father, was there that weekend to help with the apartment. Around this time in my...

...The Effects of Teenage Relationships Different relationships affect teenagers in various ways. Friends impact teenagers almost the same amount as their parents. Teenagers go to their friends for help or to ask questions that they could not ask their parents about. Most of the time their friends give them good advice but then there is the down side when they put pressure on their friends to do something like to smoke, drink, and do drugs. In most cases they tell their friends how to dress and act when around certain people. Love relationships just make it even harder for a teenager to get a good education. Some start to fail in school because they are hanging out with their boyfriend or girlfriend instead of doing their work. Throughout adolescence, teenagers are positively and negatively impacted by several relationships such as friends, family, and love relationships. Friends have a big influence on teenagers because they can say and do many of things to teenagers who think they were friends. They also start rumors and take their friends girlfriend or boyfriend and have them cheat on their friend. Some go out to drink, smoke, or to do drugs just to have fun but some think of driving home and most teenagers do not even make it to their driveways. Some teenagers who are so depressed about their social problems even think about committing suicide. Most start to hurt others turn into “goth’s” by dressing in all black. Many of depressed people show how they feel by dressing differently...

...Life as a Native American teenager was rough. We faced many dangers and feared for our lives all the while we lived. We were forced out of our home brutality and hurriedly. The American soldiers, or brutes as we called them, treated us poor, beat us, pushed us, and some were even responsible for the deaths of our family members. Many of the dangers we faced killed off our tribe and scattered our people. Disease, famine, disloyalty, racism, favoritism, and harsh treatment were only a few of the hardships we faced along the trail of tears. The bodies of our fallen family members were left on the side of the trail like roadkill. We couldn't do anything about it but keep our heads down, push forward, and silently mourn for our fallen family members....

...SPIRITUAL LIFE AND BELIEFS I do not really have a defining moment in my life where everything changed and gave up drugs and drinking and turned towards God. However, I do have a moment where I turned to him but it isn’t big and grand. Sometimes I wish this was different, sometimes I wish I had some big grand story but then again. I have been immersed in God’s life for all my entire life and I can’t complain about that. I was born in a very spiritual family with parents who had very clear and strict rules when it came to church. After I was born, as soon as I was able to recognize my surroundings I was in church. I remember a few instances when I received some spanking for trying to lie my way out of going for Sunday school. However later on I became quite an active member of every club in Sunday school, be it drama, music and even became a Boys & Girls Brigade leader. However as I grew older and past the Sunday school age, I started losing my way as I tried to figure out where I fitted best. I started moving from church to church following my friends as I tried to fit in. At this point is where I came to appreciate the importance of family worship. A person who has a meaningful plan for his children has to invite God in to his home in order to lay a firm foundation for his family. It’s at home where children should gain the true education since it’s the very first school all children must begin from. Despite thinking I’m all grown...

...Teenage Pregnancy: Acceptance as Pop Culture Our society comprises of many gender niches and roles. Women are sisters, daughters, and most importantly mothers. Motherhood is one of the most cherished roles that a woman can take on. In the past, women were meant to be seen and not heard as their value depended on their ability to bear children and raise them thoughtfully. Even though that has changed and women are expected to gain an education and lead a career, motherhood can still be a main part of their life. However, motherhood does spring upon on some by surprise. Teenage pregnancy in the last few years have been on the rise and has become a problem for some to live up to that expectation of an education and career (Peck). In the past, teenage pregnancy was a taboo. However its discussion has become more widely accepted. Through analyzing the Candie’s Foundation ad in the October 2011 issue of Teen Vogue, it can be seen as an example of the shift in perception of teenage pregnancy in the United States. The Candie’s Foundation is a philanthropic branch from the clothing line Candie’s. The clothes from the Candie’s brand are meant to appeal to teenage girls who dress girly and traditionally feminine. Focusing on the same demographic, the foundation was founded with the goal to raise awareness about teenage pregnancy in 2001, according to their website. The print ads from their current campaign mainly feature female celebrities such as Fergie, Hilary Duff, Ciara, Hayden...

...In life we go through different stages, one minute we are little babies having no worries in the world and next thing we know we’ve got a big bag of responsibilities and problems. The people who make up our lives usually have a great influence on us. Some of these influences might not be that great but others might. As teenagers we go through lots of changes with our body physically and mentally and with little experience we sometimes end up doing things which later on catch up to us and ruin our perfect future. Underage drinking for example is one of the big problems that teenagers get dragged into. Each year, approximately 5,000 young people under the age of 21 die as a result of underage drinking. About 1900 deaths are caused because of vehicle crashes, 1600 are caused of homicides, 300 from suicide and hundreds more die from other injuries such as falling, burning, drowning etc. Even with all these accidents and problems underage drinking still continues to be a widespread problem. According to data from the 2005 Monitoring the Future (MTF) study, three-fourths of 12th graders, more than two-thirds of 10th graders, and about two in every five 8th graders have consumed alcohol. Teenagers not knowing or having the experience of consuming alcohol tend to drink intensively usually consuming four to five drinks at one time. People who start drinking at young age usually become alcoholics by the time they reach adulthood. Drinking causes teenagers to fail at school and other aspects...

...As a teenager, we want what we don’t need. Sometimes we have to realize what we were craving for. There are things that are not meant for you, things that are not fitted in your personality, and things that were not written in your life on earth. Thinking every day of what you want or what you really don’t need. Sometimes we wish things that we know we can’t have. We have to accept that not all people or even you were destined in what you want to be. There are millions of purposes for why it’s not meant for you. The unexpected never is and that’s life. No one could predict. No one could change what’s done. Every second past was part of our history. Every breath you take is something affect in your environment. Every time you make them happy was a moment for them. Your goals and plans are not the things that God will give to you. There’s always reason why. We can’t ask nor knew about it. Things that are not meant for you have a replacement. Replacement that is better in your future. So you don’t need to depress yourself on what’s not destined to you. Never give up on what you started for. There is one thing for you that you need to be patient for you to achieve it. Don’t just think that when you’re out of time or out of your mind you give it up. Try harder than you try. Try the best of best. Try to work on it. Don’t just let your goals see you crying for it. Sometimes in our life, God is trying to test us how your faith works to him.
