APA Style Document Template
This document is to demonstrate that studying the subject CORE101 introduces the APA Style of Writing and that students can format an Assessment document that adheres to APA formatting. This section is the Abstract which is a short summary about the essay. Abstracts Word limits vary for this section but typically range from 150 to 250 words. Introduction. This section informs the reader about what the Whole essay is about, and is possibly the most important part of the essay. This section is not actually titled Introduction it is in fact titled the actual full title of the essay this section is normally about 10% of the total word count. The first few sentences should clearly state the problem you are addressing, and it should state your aim is either it be to resolve or argue.
One useful representation for the introduction is an upside-down triangle. The top (or the start) is very broad and general, and as you proceed, you will become more specific in what you are discussing, until the last point of your introduction is mentioning with pin-point accuracy exactly what the current essay will be arguing.
Body. This is the Bulk of your essay where you demonstrate you argument. This section is normally 80% of the total word limit. This means you need to be concise and precise in the language you use.
You will often hear your lecturer, and read in essay structure material, that your body must be logically ordered. This means that each paragraph must logically follow from the last paragraph to develop your argument. Similar to essays, which have the three sections (introduction, body, and conclusion), so do paragraphs. Paragraphs can be described as mini-essays. This means that the first sentence within a paragraph will announce the point of the paragraph (like an introduction), the rest of the sentences will argue the point (like the body), and the final sentence sill sum up the arguments (like the conclusion).
Conclusion. This is the final paragraph in you essay and like the introduction is only 10% of the word count. You use this as your summery of the essay. For the instance of this assignment the summery of this essay is to provide me with my own personal template that adheres to APA formatting and in conclusion will help me though out my academic studies.
References. This section always starts on a new page, This section includes all of your sources of information that you have cited in the body of your essay, in alphabetical order. will always ensure that your reference list starts at the top of the page. The reference list is always entitled with the word “References” using a Level 1 heading. The next thing to do is
 List all your references in alphabetical order using the format demonstrated at the end of this sample essay;
 When completed, use your cursor to highlight all of your references;
 Press the bottom right hand corner of your PARAGRAPH group in the HOME tab on the top menu; and
 Open the drop down menu under SPECIAL, and select HANGING.
This will format each of your references so the second and subsequent lines are indented, as is demonstrated.
