Advantages of Fraternities

1.) Being a part of a fraternity or sorority offers a large selection of exciting volunteer opportunities and numerous social outlets.

2.) But not everyone will have a positive experience as a club member. Those who are fans of these associations argue that the Greek system give students a wide range of leadership opportunities and paves the way to lasting friendships.

3.) In most cases this is true, however it's unfortunate that a number of fraternities and sororities are little more than an excuse for getting drunk and doing potentially dangerous pranks.

4.) A good strategy for anyone considering joining a fraternity is to weigh the pros and cons of life

Disadvantages of Fraternities 1.) First of all it is a great time commitment. You will have to devote all your time to your fraternity or sorority. Once you are a member, you should take part in all social events, meeting and competitions.

2.) Money. When you join the organization you should pay initiation fee and room. However, it is not all. You will continue spending your money on social events, attire and other unexpected expenses. 3.) A negative images. Actually, sororities and fraternities are organization that are aimed at positive results. Some of them are rather conservative and remain non-smoking or alcohol free.

Dedication I just want to inform all people that want to join in Fraternities and Sororities, it’s not easy as you know to other people there are many challenges you will encounter if you start to enter in a organization or fraternity. I can say this because im one of them.

While social fraternities and sororities may not discriminate on the basis of age, color, creed, handicap, national origin, race, religion, or sexual orientation, university policy and Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 do permit their selection of members on the basis of gender. Many academic majors have fraternities and sororities especially for students in that major or school/college. Many times these organizations are co-ed, however sometimes they are single-sex organizations. If an organization is a single-sex fraternity or sorority, it is required to be departmentally sponsored in order to become a Registered Student Organization (RSO).

Chapters are required to be affiliated with a national organization, and subsequently ascribe to and follow the policies of the national organization. Real fraternity is a good example to us because they help each other of what they need, but the fake fraternity can take you in a bad way and wrong decision for your future.

The effects actually depend on what kind of fraternity you are in. Protection, back-up, friends.
BAD EFFECTS
The bad effects of this organization is that their real goal and objectives is disappearing.
Instead of helping the community and be a good model among the youth, they are the one who's starting trouble in their community and become an arrogant person for being a member of it.But I did not mean that all of the fraternity and sorority but some of them. You can still find a good one who's purpose is true. I can only suggest that you can live life without fraternity/sorority and a life greater than them.
