...The box has changed the world as we see it. The box has provided the world with opportunities that were once thought impossible. It comes in all shapes and sizes, which is the worst when it comes to deciding which box is right for your needs. Imagine if we only had one box to choose? That would be a nightmare. The most common color for a box is brown, but can be customized to suit a person’s personal tendencies. The box is fairly easy to assemble and package. Like bread and butter, a box and scotch tape always go together. The scotch tape will help the box survive its harsh journey to wherever it is destined to go. The box is like a human body, everything must fit perfectly and there shall be no gaps in between. If there are any problems, all hell will let loose. Not to worry though fellow shippers, there are many ways to secure your precious package. From bubble wrap, newspapers, to packing peanuts, etc. Heck! Come up with your own way of protecting your goods. The best thing about a box is that it can be recycled many times as you want it to, as long as the foundation is intact. It may be seem mundane thinking about a box and what to do with it, but people have come with plethora of ways on how to use a box. Like, children building pirate ships and castles to fulfill their ludicrous imaginations. Sad and unfortunate, but even some homeless people use boxes to sleep in. There even is competition between boxes these days. Companies looking to see who can transport the most boxes...

...failure, a kind of mourning at the difference between the film’s ambition and its execution. Richard Kelly’s The Box is such a film. Kelly is a trippy, sometimes loopy filmmaker whose Donnie Darko is one of the great cult films of this century. In that film, his far less successful Southland Tales, and now The Box, Kelly creates mind-twisting tales in which everyday conundrums unravel into conspiracies and plots of cosmic proportions. Picture him as Robert Towne with an overlay of Rod Serling. But Kelly spins paranoid fantasies with so many threads that he can’t quite keep track of them all, or make them connect in a meaningful way. That’s the problem with The Box: a great set-up leading to a muted, unsatisfying conclusion that doesn’t really pay off. His film, taken from a short story by Richard Matheson, is set in 1976, to tie it to the Mars landing program that produced the first photos from that planet’s surface. Arthur Lewis (James Marsden) is a NASA scientist who worked on that program and who is awaiting approval to join the astronaut program. His wife Norma (Cameron Diaz) teaches English at a private school near Richmond, Virginia, which their son attends. Portentously, she is teaching Jean-Paul Sartre’s No Exit. One day before Christmas, a box arrives on their doorstep, a polished wooden object with a locked glass dome covering something like a panic button. The box includes a note informing them that Mr. Steward (the name, of course, has significance) will be there that...

...characteristics The general characteristics of the box jellyfish; The jellyfish’s integumentary system consists of 60 tentacles in clusters of 15 on each corner of its bell. These tentacles are about 15 centimetres long when they are swimming, and about three meters long when they are hunting. The bell can grow up to the size of a basketball, and is shaped like a box or cube, which is where it develops the name box jellyfish. The stingers on the tentacles are the most important part of the jellyfish. They are used to catch their prey, but sometimes unfortunately they are used to sting humans. If a person is stung, they can die within 4 minutes. The nervous system consists of four eye clusters with 24 eyes on each cluster. It is believed that they can distinguish colour somewhat, although it is still debated on whether or not they can form images. They are also one of the few species of jellyfish to possess a nerve ring, which is located around the base of the umbrella. The box jellyfish is one of the most dangerous jellyfish in the world. It has caused around 64 deaths in Australia, where it is commonly found, since deaths were first recorded in 1883. The amount of venom in one jellyfish is said to be enough to kill 60 humans in one sting. Being stung results in a very large amount of pain and if not treated, the victim can die within 4 minutes. ------------------------------------------------- Habitat The box jellyfish seem to move towards the shore in calm waters...

...The protection plan that I would create for the Box turtle would be an awareness plan to make sure that the inhabitants of the area were the box turtles live are aware of how box turtles live and also know how they can do their part. The awareness plan will educate people that “Box turtles rarely bite, but be gentle with them and avoid touching their head” (biodavidson, 2014). Usually when people are made aware of a problem and are provided a solution they usually comply, especially when they value something. The box turtle; in a lot of areas is taken in by families as a pet. Most people probably think that when they take them as pets they are doing them a favor but when they take them out of their habitat they are actually stressing them out to the point were they cannot reproduce most of the time. The action plan would be to educate everyone, the young preschoolers, elementary, middle school and high school students to be well aware of what type of habitat that the box turtles should live in as well as what type of care box turtles need. The action plan education plan would explain the importance of not taking box turtles as pets, never to release box turtles back into the wild unless the person knows exactly were in the wild the box turtle came from, explain the importance of letting the box turtle cross the road or helping the turtle cross, by picking it up and helping it cross to the other side. Explain that if a box turtle nests in a persons yard, the people should...

...Big Box Store Communications and Role Conflicts Phillip P. Donald MGT415:Group Behavior in Organizations (BFK1602B) Thomas Tonkin February 2, 2016 A big box retail store, is exactly as it sounds it is a large retail store with the physical design and layout to mimic that of a large box. The style of the stores is very generic and usually emvolpe a 50,000 square foot area. These large retail stores sell a number of items everything from food to electronics. These companies like Wal-Mart, Best Buy and target are generally located in suburban areas and can sell items at a lower cost, because they buy items in high volumes. They are able to buy in high volume simply due to the fact that they move product faster than the smaller stores due to having discounted prices. In this paper I will explain and look into how a major big box retailer operates and the role conflicts that develop within the group and the communication issues they face when running the day to day operations of these retail giants, then make recommendations on how to reduce role conflicts and communications within the organization. When people are put into a setting that is diverse and forced to work with individuals, there will always be conflict. This happens because people have different views, beliefs and work ethics. So when people are put together in this melting pot type of environment conflict will appear and conflict is not always bad. However, bad conflict can...

...The Box Suddenly, his cell phone in his robe pocket vibrated. He answered the phone, and heard the familiar voice of a client, a client that held a heavy wallet, “Mr. Jenkins, how are you?” “Ms. Chambers, it’s good to hear from you.” “Listen, Orson, I think I have to drop the November contract. Well… I don’t really want to say the reason… But I just don’t think it will work out, my apologies.” “Well…” “Goodbye!” With this, she hung up swiftly. He used to be a very busy man, but now, he seemed to be cut off from reality, everything around him seemed dead A six feet young man in his bathrobe was strolling around his apartment living room; he was wearing a hotel flip-flop; his dark green eyes were stern; he kept scratching his neatly combed dark blonde hair; his eyebrows were knit together tightly; his hands were rubbing his temples constantly, as if thinking of something important. There, in the middle of his living room, was a glass coffee table, on top of it was an ordinary paper box ---- a plain light brown cardboard box held together with tape, no address was written on it. It seemed to have popped out from nowhere. Orson was thinking of the day when he found a box sitting on his coffee table, he remembered that he ignored its existence and kept on reading his emails. He remembered one of his clients from Russia made a call and told him that she couldn’t make to the meeting, that was the first unusual call he got after that box appeared...

...Toast Box is a company related to Bread Talk which sells Singapore style of breakfast like kaya butter toast and traditional Nanyang coffee. This company was established in December as a food stall unit of Food Republic Wisma Atria in Singapore. After that, Toast Box has fast expanded with more than 30 stores to provide the best service and products to their customers. Now, this Singapore local company has been well received in other places, expanding its foothold in Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Hong Kong and China. As we known, environment forces can affect companies’ ability to serve its customers. Environment can be divided into two parts: macroenvironment and microenvironment. The two parts have its different effects. Toast Box, one of the most popular Singapore style breakfast sellers, also affected by macro environment and microenvironment. As for macro environment, in my opinion, cultural will be the most important part of macro environment to affect Toast Box efficiently. It is often said that when a place start to have their own breakfast “culture ", there will no longer be a sleazy city. Several years ago, many hainanese worked on British ships as cooking helpers. When they arrived in the British colonies now constituting Singapore and Malaysia, they started selling the foods which they prepared for the British, including coffee and French toast, to the local populations. They replaced the Western jams by the British with native coconut jams. This native coconut...

...Vengeance It was dark outside, but the moon illuminated the sky. James Florence had a strange feeling that someone was following him. He turned around, but nobody was there. Maybe he just couldn’t see anything. Then, he heard a crack behind him. He stopped and looked behind him again. As he suspected, nobody was there. Now he was getting really nervous. “Maybe it was just a tree branch falling”, he said to himself. However, once he started walking he heard it again. It sounded like somebody was walking over leaves. The crunching was getting closer. It was getting louder. It was getting faster. He started to walk faster. Then, he started running. The crunching was getting louder and louder every step he took. He heard a growling noise behind him. It sounded like it was a dog, but he couldn’t tell. Then, when the beast stepped into the moonlight he realized it was his dog, Bear. He realized that Bear had followed him from his house. Bear was a black lab with a white spot on its left paw, and a white spot on its right ear. Bear was just over three years old. James had gotten him about two years ago. He told Bear to go home. Bear whimpered, but then started walking back into the shadows. After a minute or two, James heard a whimper, and then a squeal. There was silence. “Bear”, James called. He heard nothing. He started walking to where he heard Bear last. He saw a red substance on the ground in front of him. He touched it, and the red substance was slimy and stuck to his finger...

...Assignment MIS This project involves packaging nails so that you make the most profit possible (this is a profit maximizing problem). Say you have six types of nails and can make as many as you need of each. These nails are in 4-inch, 3.5-inch, 3-inch, 2.5-inch, 2-inch, and 1.5-inch nails. The cost of making each type of nail depends on how big a nail it is. Those cost and selling prices are listed in the table below along with the weights. The nails will be sold in boxes of up to 30 nails. There must be no more than 10, but no less than 5, of each of three types of nails in each box. The nails in each box should weigh no more than 20 ounces. You're looking for the combination with the highest profit using a trial-and-error method. A spreadsheet would be helpful for completing this project. You'll most likely find that you identify some promising paths to follow right away and will concentrate on those to reach the best one. |Nail |Weight |Cost |Selling price | |4 inch |1 oz |4 cents |8 cents | |3.5 Inch |0.85 oz |3,5 cents |7 cents | |3 inch |0.7 oz |3 cents |6 cents | |2.5 inch |0.5 oz |2.5 cents |4 cents | |2 inch |0.25 oz |2 cents |3 cents | |1.5 inch |0.1 oz ...

...Lauren Tucker 1 Freshman English 1 March 2013 Pandora’s Box: All the Unanswered Questions Part 1: What I Already Know In 5th grade I read a Mythology book on goddess and gods and Pandora was one of them. I know that Pandora was created because of a disagreement between gods leaving a need for revenge. I also know that “Pandora’s Box” is just the name that was given by scientist and that it was actually said to be a jar containing all the evil spirits, bad fortune, and bad luck that was in the jar to later be released. Pandora was the first female goddess created. Part 2: What I Want To Find Out In this research project I would like to learn more about the way Pandora lived and all about the box of spirits. I would like to learn exactly what was in the box/jar. I would also love to learn what spirits were exactly in the box and what the meanings were. To start off this project I’m going to do research on the computer checking out different website on Pandora. Then I will try and look for books and if I find any I will take information on them. I plan on doing a little research every week so I don’t wait until the very last minute. Part 3: My Search Findings Tucker 2 Pandora was created by Hephaistos, the smith god, under the order of Zeus, to upset Prometheus the god of fire and friend of men. (“Pandora-Greek Mythology”) Pandora was created as revenge/punishment because Prometheus gave man the gift of fire. Prometheus was not supposed to give mankind...

...A Girl in the Box Wind in the Box, Terrance Hayes’s third book of poetry, is mainly about how heritage, race, and spirituality play a part in shaping a person’s identity. The poems in Wind in a Box cover a wide variety of topics The poems in this book cover a vast array of topics and emotions, but they all have one thing in common, they all are colored by Terrance Haye’s experiences and his perception of the world. In the two poems, “Girl in the Woods” and “Wind in the Box”, Terrance Hayes tells the story of two victims of traumatic experiences and their response to that experience. In the first poem, “Girl in the Woods”, the story teller describes the story of a girl who catches a ride home with some of her friends and ends up getting raped. After being raped, the girl is brought home and does nothing to her attackers. In the second poem, “Wind in the Box”, the speaker of the poem contemplates how he feels after killing someone that wronged him. Both poems make references to traumatic experiences. These two poems are different because of the way that the subject of the poem reacts; in the first poem the subject takes no action against her attackers while in the second poem the subject kills his enemy. Both poems have a clear meaning: while traumatic experiences happen in life, different people respond very differently. Hayes is a poet that has the great talent of conveying the emotions from a traumatic experience very effectively. He paints the picture of the experience using...
