On July 1st, 1992, the Companos were heard by neighbors arguing with each other. Chris, the husband, claimed that after arguing, the wife, Karen, left the house to allow herself to calm down a bit. That was the last time anyone saw her. Chris told reporters that they were fighting because of his reoccurring drug use, which Karen wanted to seek help for. Chris did not want her help.
