I. Introduction A. Background of the Study Other appliances in our house may be battery operated. Some branded batteries are expensive but it is not long lasting. So as students and researchers, we are given a chance to conduct an experimentation on how to use vinegar as an alternative battery pack. This experiment is environmental friendly, and it is cheaper than branded ones. It does not contain any toxic that is hazardous to human’s health. The main objectives of this study are the following: 1.) To give enough power to the battery operated appliances 2.) To know that vinegar may be used as an effective power battery 3.) To give vinegar another use not just only for cooking B. Statement of the Problem This study aims to know the effects of Vinegar as a battery. This will further answer the following question: 1.) Will the Vinegar battery give enough power to the appliances? 2.) Is vinegar effective to be used as a power battery? 3.) Does vinegar have another use other than we use it in the kitchen?

C. Significance of the Study The following person will gain benefit from this study: 1) Students – this study will help them to power their calculators that has no battery. 2) Family members – if the remote control has no battery being operated they can use this study to give alternative power to it. 3) Technicians – They can use the vinegar battery for their battery operated digital tester. D. Scope and Limitation of the Study The researchers are grade nine students from Master’s Vineyard Academy. This experiment was conducted at Muzon, Taytay, Rizal, on September 2015.

II. Conceptual Framework

A. Review of Related Literature Vinegar consists acetic acid and water. This acid is produced by the fermentation of ethanolby. It has mild acid that’s why it has great industrial uses. Commercial vinegars are eitherly produced by fast or slow fermentation process.

B. HYPOTHESIS If the vinegar battery is applied to the battery operated appliances, then it will work.

III. Methodology

A. Type of Research Used

This study utilized an Experimental Type of Research. With the use of experimentation, results and findings will be accurate and precise. Gathered information will be then subjected into interpretation and analysis.

This study utilized the following materials: * Calculator with no battery * Digital tester * Universal remote control

D. Procedure

1. Experimentation

a. Prepare all the materials needed b. Build the battery c. Apply the battery to the appliances d. Observe what will to the appliances

2. Data Gathering Process

After the experimentation, the researchers observed that the calculator did not function well and the power supply is insufficient for the calculator to last for a minute. Although the battery is compatible with the remote control, light bulb and digital tester. 3. Data Analysis

After the data were organized a process of thinking was used, it is called Critical thinking. In this process the data gathered was compared and contrasted with each other.

IV. Results and Findings

After the researchers have gathered the pertinent data through experimentation, these data will now be treated statistically and will be represented, interpreted and analyzed where people would understand it.

The light bulb is compatible with the battery. But when in low Voltage the bulb can’t produce enough light. And when in high voltage it produced brighter light than before but when the bulb was given a high voltage it produced a foul smell-like rubber burning. The exact amount of voltage is 50V only.

The remote control is broken because it was overcharged by the voltage given to it and it also produced a bad smell.

V. Summary, Conclusion, Recommendation

After the data has been tabulated, presented, interpreted and analyzed, the researcher had come up with the summary, conclusion and analysis of the study.

A. Summary
The following were the summary of results: * Every appliance failed when given a high voltage.

* The Vinegar smelled when being applied.

* All of the appliance were working properly with the vinegar battery

* The Light bulb produced a foul smell like it was burning, and then it did not light up anymore after the 3rd trial.

* The remote control do not need high voltage because it will be broken or it will produce a bad smell.

B. Conclusion

The researcher concluded that the hypothesis is accepted. If an appliance needs an alternative battery, then The Vinegar battery can be a substitute to other branded batteries because this battery does not release mercury or other chemicals and it is nature friendly. This battery cannot harm any person or any living things. The user of this battery should do the right procedure to achieve a perfect battery to last long for their battery operated appliances.

C. Recommendation

After several months of enduring this study, the researcher had come up to some recommendations to the following persons.

Students- They can use this information to help themselves and for them not to waste money to buy branded batteries that are not long lasting.

Project makers- They can use thid if they have a project that needs battery and they do not want to buys expensive batteries.

Family members- they can use the time in experimentation for bonding with learning that they can do something with the simple but environment friendly battery.
