The constellation Pictor, or The Easel, is a cluster of stars located in the SQ1 quadrant. There are 3 stars in this constellation visible to the unaided human eye, aPic, bPic, and cPic. The shape of the constellation is an easel and palette, although the name itself, Pictor, means painter in Latin. Pictor, or Equuleus Pictoris, is surrounded by the constellations Caelum(the sculptor's tool),Carina(the keel of the argo), Columba(the dove), Dorado(the Swordfish and the Goldfish, Puppis(poop deck of the argo) and Volans(the flying fish). The optimal time to see pictor is at 9:00 during the month of January.

They invited one of every animal, and one of every rock, plant, and bug. They asked first of man what he would like the sky to look like. Man asked for the sky to be dark, for otherwise things could not rest. The gods obliged, and the sky became dark always. The owls enjoyed the dark, but most other birds found it difficult to see and kept flying into trees, who lodged complaints with the new sky because they could not grow without light. The gods next asked the trees what the sky should look like, and they said one word. Bright. Now the sky was shiny and glowing. The the humans complained, the owls complained, and all of the world got into a huge fight. The gods separated it and started to work on a compromise. They could not decide how to do it. Finally an old man walked up and began to paint. He painted the first sky with flecks of the glowing paint and a big splotch in the middle. The trees were not impressed, although everyone else adored the sky. The complaints mounted up, and the trees simply were not growing, which made everyone hungry and put into a foul mood. The man once more painted a sky, using the second canvas as a backdrop. He painted a covering of blue for everywhere but a spot in the middle. Then the gods put it to a vote. Everyone chose a side, and in the end it was split down the middle. Than the man painted them that they would always circle
