...Importance of Value Education in Modern time Beena Indrani* Everyone knows that life is precious – that life is important. We all protect our life because we care for it more than anything else. If life is so important, the values of life are even more important. Values are guiding principles, or standards of behaviour which are regarded desirable, important and held in high esteem by a particular society in which a person lives. "The Importance of Values and Morals are the code we live by in a civil and just society. They are what we use to guide our interactions with others, with our friends and family, in our businesses and professional behaviour. Our values and morals are a reflection of our spirituality; our character. They are what we hope to model for our children and the children around us, because children do watch us as they develop their own sense of right and wrong. Value education means inculcating in the children sense humanism, a deep concern for the wellbeing of others and the nation. This can be accomplished only when we instill in the children a deep feeling of commitment to values that would build this country and bring back to the people pride in work that brings order, security and assured progress. A person with proper values will not be afraid to face problems. He or she will expect and accept them as part of life. He or she will not give un necessary importance to anything that happens in life. He or she will have complete faith in God. Such a person...

...turmoil, important leaders and individuals across the globe are looking towards our generation, Generation Y; to pull the world out of these troubled times. The key to our generation’s success in contributing positively to society is education. Education will guide these young individuals to success in monetary values and in contributions to humanity. People of the skilled labor force argue that the pressure of society on the young generation to obtain the highest level of educational achievement is hindering their growth. Many writers of numerous magazines and newspapers across the United States such as Kate Lorenz, a writer for CNN, argues that there has been countless individuals who have achieved success both monetarily and in humanity that had no degree at all. I shall not argue the belief of critics that guts and determination are equally as important as education; however, I intend to raise the awareness that education is the key to achieving success. Knowledge is essential to an individual; it is not only invaluable but it is also irreplaceable and will never hinder an individual in anything that he or she wishes to achieve. The question that arises most often during the discussion about the importance of education in society is: How much education is enough for the individuals of Generation Y to obtain success? At this time in United States, a person needs at least a Bachelor’s degree to be classified as a middle class citizen. College students face the obstacles...

...Prior to the American Revolution and during the 18th century, the quality of education was considered sporadic at best. However, over time, education was prioritized, and it was able to become a normal part of society. The type of schooling offered was typically very different depending on the gender and background, but many were at least able to enter the realm of work, politics, and activism. McMahon states this led to the social status of women to change immensely, and that “. . . Education was a critical tool of self-fashioning and empowerment for women” (Of the Utmost Importance, 477). Lucia McMahon established her argument with the use of documents such as essays, speeches, newspapers, and books. The primary sources, on the other hand,...

From something as simple as stealing a cellular device, to the more evident violent gang crimes, In the Bahamas crime plagues many of our streets today. In this research, as a group we sought out to seek reasons for the rapid increase of crime over the 40 years since the Bahamas gained its independence in 1973 and reasons that contributed to the increase in criminal activity. We looked at a society once back when, where our community was once not heavily impregnated with influx of criminal activity and violent crimes, and compared it to our society today. Was there a difference? And if so Why or what contributed to that difference? In any society today, research indicates that many criminals come from underprivileged environments. It is indicated that many violent criminals are the products of broken homes, and are transcended into society with little or no education. It inculcates in human beings better attitudes, behaviors and cognition and distinguishes them from other creatures on the basis of these attributes. Basically, it focuses on the individual’s growth and development in society. Without recognizing the importance of schools and colleges in the society, the recognition of importance of education would be incomplete. As education is inter-related with individual’s growth and development in the society, in the same way schools are inter-related with education, due to this reason schools play a key role in spreading the light of education throughout society. We turn to forming ideas that keep us occupied during the time we spend on Earth; ideas such as science, art, love, and religion. We connect with these ideas and create identities for ourselves. We then reproduce and pass the knowledge down to our offspring so they can do the same. This gives us purpose to our lives. We find it essential to continue on this path, but is it as important as we think it is? We identify ourselves as a dominating force on our planet; however, we are just specks of dust compared to the rest of the universe. Even worse, our self-importance stunts the progression of humanity as a whole by restricting the education of our own race....

...503 Words Essay on The Importance of Education (free to read) According to Bacon “Reading maketh a full man; writing an exact man and conference a ready man.” And if someone asks what reading, writing and conference make together, anyone would say that all of them stand for Education. In other words, we can say that education makes anyone complete, accurate and worldly wise. It means that no one is complete without education. Thus we can confidently say that education is necessary an all-round development of the personality of a human-being. He cannot hope for success, name, fame and prosperity in life without it. Even a nation would be devoid of any progress, if its citizens fail to have the benefits of education. H.L. Wayland has correctly said, “Universal suffrage, without universal education, would be a curse.” For the success of any democracy, education is a must. Imagine a country with illiterate ministers voted to power by illiterate people! Unfortunately, there are many people who downgrade the value of education and say that it has never benefited anyone. But this is not correct. Knowledge is too far advanced today for a man to gain without its specialized branch. Trade, industry, agriculture, medicine, the I.T. and all other areas have become so complex that no one can take up any job without being educated. An educated man will never find himself stranded in the midst of any difficulty. His brain, developed by serious- thinking during his academic years, will unfailingly...

...The structural-functional strain of sociological theory will serve as a springboard for analyzing stratification in education and employment. Stratification is a system of positions that operates as a distribute system of rewards and punishments to populations based on only on their social position rather than the people occupying them (Davis & Moore, 1945). The rewards are considered rights essential to having a given social position and punishments are considered just deserts (Davis & Moore, 1945, p. 243). As a result, inequality in institution depends on control by an elite power structure over access to institutions such as education and employment, as these power structures ensure that the most desired social positions have individuals...

It is estimated that throughout the world approximately 6,000 different languages are spoken and that fewer than 25percent of our world’s approximate 200 countries recognize two or more official languages (Grimes, 1992 ). Grimes (1992) also goes on to surprise us with this unbelievable statistic, being that only a mere handful of these 200 countries recognizing more than two. Despite the above conservative figures, data has shown that there are many more bilingual or multilingual individuals around the world than there are monolingual (Tucker, 1999). It is estimated, that there are many more children...
