...The Law Office started as a small general law practice firm in 1992 by David Jeter and Nate Jackson near Sacramento, California. Their practice had grown and they operated from 3 separate towns and employed 27 people. They decided to hire a General Manager of operations as they felt that they were losing control of the firm’s operation as the number of cases, clients, employees and travel requirements increased. They hired Brad Howser as the firm’s General Manager of operations who was currently working in a city outside California in the insurance industry and who was looking to move back to his home state of California. After 6 months into the company Brady started to make several changes to the firm’s operational rules and procedures. The changes he made were not acceptable to the staff. Some of the changes he made were change the flex schedule currently in place; reduce attorney’s travel, meals and entertainment budget. He also sent strongly worded letters to clients whose outstanding invoices exceeded 30 days. All these changes made the staff as well as clients unhappy. He also conducted weekly staff meeting in which only he spoke about management techniques that were successful in the insurance industry and never let the staff to voice their opinion. He was generous in his donations to the society but he did not pay attention to the concerns of the staff. The attorney’s instead of seeing an increase in the clients saw the number of clients declining because of the hard...

...William Tomlin Management 5000 Case: The Law Offices Of Jeter, Jackson, Guidry, and Boyer April 9, 2013 This case presents a Law firm that has experienced growth both internally with employees and externally with clientele. What started off with legal team of three had grown substantially to a team of more than twenty-seven. It seems as if employee moral is high with everyone loving the position there in. Democratic leadership qualities rein supreme within the law firm. This gave the employees a sense of ownership to there organization knowing that their opinions were valued. With day-to-day operations starting to become tougher to oversee the entire law firm team decided to create a new position and call it General Manager of Operations. This job title included responsibilities such as improving customer relations, expanding customer base, enhancing relations with local communities, managing the annual budget and incentive programs, maintaining or exceeding current profit margin while growing sales by ten percent and supervising day-to-day office personnel and operations. A hiring committee was form and within two months Mr. Brad Howser filled the position. Brad Howser was a longtime administrator from the insurance industry whose hopes were to bring structure and organization to The Law Offices of Jeter, Jackson, Guidry and Boyer. Brad Howser first six months were spent observing, meeting staff, and reviewing the law firms history. The months to follow Brad...

...Case 1.2 Effective Law Office Solutions, Inc. (ELOS) Assess the current strategy of ELOS toward its most critical target market (midsized offices). Can you offer any suggestions on how ELOS can improve its relationships with existing customers and develop new business opportunities more effectively? There are some suggestions that I would offer to the company so they can solve these problems. First, the sales force was hired in base of their experience with operations of a doctor’s office and the company only trained them on the products and services that ELOS offered. But more important that been instructed on the products that they have to sell, they should be trained so they know all about the market and the sales strategies that they must apply with each of their costumers. Also I think Braver should hire people that have sales skills. It doesn’t matter that they have experience or not, Braver should define the sales force objectives, mission and strategies and train them based on these points. Another suggestion that I would recommend to the company is that they should have an in-house sales support staff. This way, this staff should be in contact with the clients before and after a sale. It is very important to track every sale considering that the sale’s representatives will not have time for this process. This will guarantee that the costumer complaints will decrease. At the same time, they should have a CRM system that allows them to analyze customer communications...

The past few years have seen a wave of office openings in China, as firms look to establish a Chinese presence or to increase their existing Asian network. However, regulatory constraints set up by the Chinese government and cultural differences can be the major obstacles when starting a legal practice in China. This paper intends to present an overview on the primary concerns and considerations regarding the Chinese market entry of foreign law firms. It first provides an introduction on the Chinese legal market environment and statutory restrictions on legal business. In Part II, it illustrates and compares different entity/association options foreign firms can consider when entering the market. Finally, in Part III of the paper, an analysis on client relationship management and cultural difference impacts is demonstrated to point out the unique marketing strategies in China. I. THE CHINESE LEGAL MARKET ENVIRONMENT i. Overview Today the Chinese government is speeding up economic development by reforming the banking system, encouraging foreign investment, and through the privatization of state-owned enterprises. ...legislation that covers health and safety in the UK. The health and safety executive is responsible for enforcing this law relevant to the working environment. The health and safety act protects health and safety for workers if there were any injuries to a worker when they are at work then they is protected by this law. BAM Construction Site In a BAM construction site to follow the health and safety at work act is very important, this is because in a BAM construction site there are many workers that have got different jobs to do that are a risk for the workers such as the crane driver, the job role for the crane driver is to direct heavy equipment from the floor around the construction site to the location it needs to be and without the right training the heavy equipment can slide of and fall on workers or on the building itself. However BAM construction site worker follow the health and safety at work act very seriously because there have been very few injuries at the construction site. In 6 months there have only been two injuries in the construction site and the injuries were minor however any injury that happens on a BAM construction site has to be reported. The amount of risks that are in the construction site are very high and to have two minor injuries in the amount of time the construction site has been there is an achievement because this shows that this law is being followed rightfully. When entering the construction site workers have to wear helmets, safety boots, safety...

In some cases the sheriff's department issues warrants for suspected criminals and seizes illicit goods found during the arrest process (Petrick, 2018). While all of the above describes what the elected sheriff’s job description is, often times in the judicial system sheriffs are found to be corrupt and have violated the public’s trust. ...“Going green” is a phrase that has been on the lips of many people for the past few years. To go green means you will act in a way to preserve the planet and its natural systems and resources (Wilkerson, 2009). In light of all the talks of going green many companies want to go green as well. Green jobs as explained in the Bureau of Labor Statistics website are jobs in businesses that produce goods or provide services that benefit the environment or conserve its natural resources. Jobs in which workers' duties involve making their establishment's production processes more environmentally friendly or use fewer natural resources (BLS, 2013). Automatically the thoughts of working on a farm or planting trees in some forest come to mind I am sure but those are not the only options. Major companies that are housed in large story buildings can be a green job as well. Companies that produce energy from renewable sources use energy efficient electronics in the work area, and any reduction in greenhouse gasses can all be considered green jobs (BLS, 2013). The company itself is not the only thing that has to be green but the employees need to be as well (at least when at work). The company needs to provide the employee with the proper knowledge of the environment and how the company itself is working towards helping the planet. Whatever it is that the company is doing like aiding in the conservation of energy or pollution reduction the employee must know how the company implements these...
