Dr. Wetta published and coauthor multiple books related to the history of the Civil War and Reconstruction such as The Long Reconstruction: The Post-Civil War South in History, Film, and Memory. The scope of the text illustrate the extensions of the Republican party, the Scalawags, in support goals of in maintaining the status quo on free slaves states during the time of civil upheaval.
