...The Insane Roller Coaster Have you ever chose something horrible, or you did something you will NEVER do again? Because… unfortunately something really bad happened to me. First I was at Six Flags with my mom and dad and it was getting dark but I was super excited! I saw all these thrilling rides and I was so ready to ride them. But then 5 mins things started to get bad. Before I get into things let’s start from the top. I was walking with my parents looking for which one to ride first. It was so hard to choose which one to go on because they all looked so fun, it would take one million years to choose. Finally i chose one. “So you want to go on that one,” questioned my dad? “Yeah that one,” I ushered. “Alright let’s do it,” my dad gladly...

...I looked trying to feel secure with my new surroundings. My friends and I were debating on which roller coaster to ride on. I voted for the least scary one, however, majority rules and everyone voted on riding The Vortex. While standing in the long line, my anxiety for riding a roller coaster for the first time felt like fire. Biting the inside of my cheeks hoping my friends wouldn't notice how frightened I was feeling. While the line moved forwards, I knew that the inevitable was about to come. My palms began sweating when we reached the front of the line. Luckily we had to wait for the cart to come back because it was full. While waiting, the constant heartbeat inside my ears felt like listening to spastic drumline. Unconsciously, I began...

...sister and I kept walking looking for a ride to go on. We continued walking while I was feeling a little queasy looking at all the different rides they had. I walked straight up to what looked like an old antique roller coaster made out of wood. I tipped my head up looking at the roller coaster which appeared to go on forever into the sky. “That one.” I said steadily. We got in the back of the line and I was a little nervous I was about to go on my first ever roller coaster. The coaster came back to where the line was at, and I was the next up.I saw the people waddling off very slowly. I sat in the two person wooden seat. I stared straight ahead at the wood rails with tiny metal bars underneath and a giant fake crack on the right wooden post. Straight ahead of us. I sat in fear on the rough black plastic seat that reflected the sun right above me....

...Life is like a roller coaster it can go any way at any speed and this represents my switch between middle school between high school. And the reason is because in 8th and 9th grade went any way bad or good fast or slow but 9th was the worst. It all starts with 8th grade was easy and boring and then in the end of summer about to go high school, I was pretty nervous then boom 9th grade hits me like a tornado. At the end of 7th grade summer I was getting ready for 8th grade I was kinda scared but I new I have to go. My first day was like being in the line for a kiddy ride and finally getting on it. Just buckling in and listening to directions really easy and boring. But the worst part was the mean and annoying director for the roller coaster kind like my Spanish teacher that year. But other than that it was a fun and easy year really boring just like a kitty ride. And at the end of 8th grade summer was like waiting in line for that really scary roller coaster scariest at the park.Day 3 was like when you're walking around the amusement park and just seeing the massive roller coaster.Day 2 was like when my friends say hey let's go ride that roller coaster and I already started to sweat and get nervous.while walking to the roller...

...As I walked into the entrance of the American Eagle, I could hear the screams of the people on the coaster and the whoosh of the roller coaster going by. It was a perfect day to go to six flags. Not to hot and not too cold. I went with my parents and my extended family. It was my first time going on a big rollercoaster. We walked into the entrance, I could smell the funnel cake right next to the entrance. We walked past the ride earlier and it was long, so we decided to go get something to eat and go on other rides.I was nervous. “Are you excited to go on the ride.” said grandpa “Yeah, I am a little nervous tho.” I exclaimed I waited in line with my cousins, aunts, uncles, and my grandpa. While we stood in line my cousin and I were playing on the ledges in line and trying to find something to do to pass the time. It felt as slow as a hot summer's day....

...day before Halloween was a special day for me. It wasn't only my first time riding a roller coaster, but it was also the day I overcame my fear of them. I will never forget the moment when I also overcame my fear of heights . I lost this fear on my first time ever on a roller coaster which was named the Goliath at 6 flags Great America . Most people think roller coasters are really scary and I always hear both bad and good stuff about them, but I’ve never actually been on one becuase of my fear of heights. So I thought it was time to get some friends to go with me. When I was in line waiting to ride my first rollercoaster with my friend Skyelar, her boyfriend Eric and his sister Melissa. I got really nervous and scared because I...

...My First Roller Coaster I was standing in a huge line for the Raptor. I have never been on a twisting or looping roller coaster before. I was so nervous when I got to the front of the line. The next cart came by and everyone in it got off. I sat in the seat and I was so terrified I was shivering. The ride started moving, it just zoomed straight. The first thing off the straight line was a loop. I felt like I was going to slip out of the seat and break my neck. I didn’t though. Next up was a big drop. I was laughing so hard the whole way down the drop. Then we started twisting around. Then we were going so fast when we were going straight and we bounced in the air. We caught so much power in the air. It hurt really bad when we hit the track...

...experience of unknown betrayal of a friend and vicious rumors. Thus one can be the subject of misfortune even if one does not survive one's death. However, I would argue that Nagel still fails to defeat Epicurus' basic proposition--as Rosenbaum has rebutted against, Nagel’s rationale has exemplified that what one does not consciously experience can hurt one (when one exists after being harmed and is capable to experience the loss at some point of time), but ignore that death is nonexistence, something that one cannot experience (221). Another perspective against the Epicureans would be Stoyles' concept of momentary vs. narrative well-being. Stoyles distinguishes between the two types of well-being, arguing that Epicurus is right on that death does not affect a person's momentary well-being due to the lack of subjective experience, but neglects that death can affect the narrative value of one's life, as "it renders certain efforts and events in our lives insignificant" (19). I would argue that such view puts an emphasis on achievement and judgement from others, which undermines the Epicurean goal of ataraxia. No matter how long we live, we will always have projects incomplete and interests to pursue. For Epicurus, those activities are just variations of kinetic pleasures subordinating the pursue of ataraxia--the only goal that matters for a good life. Therefore, I shall conclude that the Epicurean argument is sufficient to support that death is nothing to fear for, and such realization...

...the author offers some insight as to her vision and perspective on this tragic theme. In addition to the loss, Porter spent time in the sanitarium as a child with illness and periods of solitude as she was not allowed to have visitors (Wescott 36). Another example of where this author draws perspective in her story from own personal experience. Porter wrote this story in a third person omniscient point of view which means that an external narrator tells the story, but gives insight into the thoughts or feelings of the character (Shakel and Ridl 149). As Granny Weatherall is on her death bed she drifts in and out of a lucid state. The third person point of view emphasis the internal conflict of she is facing as she refuses to believe she is dying. Harder writes: Porter, on the other hand, creates throughout her story a disjunction between Granny's mind and the reader’s, for her reader must perceive finally what Granny cannot perceive. She restricts herself, from the beginning, to Granny's consciousness during a few hours on her last day, slipping in and out of an interior monologue which jumbles chronology. Her reader is always aware of the narrative voice, an awareness that distances Granny's consciousness… (152) If this story was written in a different way, it may not have had the same effect on the reader. This style helps the reader to understand the confusion and emotion of a dying woman, rather than just reading and imaging what she was thinking and feeling. In the...

...on the LO in the context of learning and OL and in particular the theoretical tensions and dilemmas existing between these concepts. Management theorists have under-utilised the insights and practices from other disciplines such as sociology, philosophy and anthropology. As Burrell (1994) argues: Sooner or later organisation studies must enter an area where philosophy and social science meet. Organisation studies must also enter intellectual theory where the well-established French and German traditions of social theory meet. The author Deb Stewart is a Lecturer in the School of Management, Victoria University, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Keywords Learning organization, Organizational learning, Organizational change, Metaphor, Narratives Abstract Examines the theoretical and practical development of the concept of the learning organisation (LO). ...Emotional Intelligence Leadership Success. Seth Ramachandiran Theoretical Paper submitted for the OB Class. Abstract: The theoretical paper defines and analyses the impacts of the Emotional Intelligence on leadership and success. Emotional intelligence, Leadership and success are very subjective terms and can be interpreted in various ways.. Hence an attempt is made to define them and set the boundaries of the analysis. Firstly the foundations of emotional intelligence are established and boundaries of it is defined. The scope of leadership and success is defined in the organisations in OECD countries. Couple of examples from India and China is added to differentiate how diverse the leadership and success in these countries compared to US corporations. The leadership excludes the political leadership as such and ability to win votes even though the shared vision, hope (President Obama’s Hope) and mass communication is as much an application of EI as any corporate leaders. Some of the practical aspect of the EI is added in this article to make it more direct and meaningful to practical organisational life. The applications of Intentional Change Theory, shared visions are discussed as useful tool. At an individual level the Positive Emotional Attractor and Negative Emotional Attractor are established. Scientific basis of EI measurement and the research from neurological study is presented to complete the analysis. How the meditation, mindfulness and Yoga fit into...

...Baby Mama 1 hour 39 minutes Rated: PG-13 Genre: Comedy Released: April 25, 2008 Directed by Michael McCullers Distributor: Universal Studios Technology is defined in the dictionary as “the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means and their interrelation with life, society, and the environment.” Technology has maneuvered its way into the world’s simplest form of living, and has even presented itself in the genre of films writings as well. Today not only is technology used in the production of these films, but in many cases it has made itself part of the plot. Film writers have amplified, stretched, or even created many types of technology to draw their plot lines around, and the movie Baby Mama does just that. Baby Mama is a film that presents something as serious as reproduction and the technologies involved in that, and make it hilarious and understandable to your average audience. Baby mama is a romantic comedy film released in 2008. It was written and directed by first time director Michael McCullers, staring Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Greg Kinnear.
