Each panel within the book Persepolis has a deeper meaning than what is displayed. Every image explains the actions that are happening in the story, but each image also explains in depth what is happening to not only the characters, but the author and real world problems as well. The image on the bottom row of page nine consists of a black background with the caption “I wanted to be justice, love and the wrath of God all in one” along with three versions of the main character, Marji Satrapi (Satrapi 9).
