Spoiler Alert* What I am about to disclose to you may give away the story from past seasons or from the current season of The Walking Dead. For those who do not know, the first season starts with Sheriff Rick Grimes awakening in a hospital from a comma. Since it was the first season there was some action but for the most part the viewers were getting back story on the characters and what caused the zombie apocalypse. There was a bit of drama because Rick’s wife had an affair with his best friend since she believed Rick to be dead. By the end of the season the group Rick and the rest of the group leave to building in which they were staying and go out into the world to survive. For the most part this season is fairly straight forward and to …show more content…
Some viewers have complained that every season has a great deal of mindless walking around through the woods but for the most part there has been a plot. Over the course of the next two seasons though the demographic of people who are continuously watching the show has decreased, and then drastically increased.
Although during the fifth season the group settled in a town called Alexandria some viewers were growing restless with the lack of the groups advance to find security and find out what caused the outbreak. This season airing currently so far has started with a bang. Although, it has taken place mostly in Alexandria the audience still has no idea if Glenn is actually dead and it has been two weeks. Viewers are growing restless with anticipation. It has been questioned how long a show like this can run for and as said by one of its viewers, “"just how long can you be chased by zombies for before it all starts to get a bit boring?" And if last night's season six premiere was anything to go by, I now have my answer - about five series.”
The Walking Dead is said to go on for 6 more seasons, and after this past season premier I think we can all expect a good season. Hopefully by the next episode we will find out if Glenn is dead or alive so he can get back to his pregnant

Survival Techniques Used In The Walking Dead

...Across the world, many people are inspired by zombie productions. Every zombie film released depicts a new survival technique these audiences can use in the impending zombie apocalypse. Sadly, these survival skills will never be put to use. In contrast to many theories, a zombie apocalypse is impossible due to the environment, a zombie’s inability to heal, and insufficient spreading of the virus. A zombie apocalypse could not happen in our current world. One reason a zombie apocalypse could not happen is zombies are vulnerable to their surrounding temperature. Both the heat and the cold would cause damage to the zombies’ bodies. In The Walking Dead, the setting takes place in hot Georgia. Since a reincarnated corpse cannot regulate its body...

Zombie Apocolypse

...The impending rise of the walking dead creeps closer and closer as the days pass. The exact time is uncertain, but its occurrence is inevitable. Many have begun preparing for the dawn of the dead, stocking up on valuable resources such as shelter, food and water, and weapons, all of which are key factors to surviving the zombie apocalypse. Initially, shelter must be established. A well concealed building, such as a prison, is an ideal shelter from zombies. It is large enough to accommodate a large body of survivors who are hopefully willing to join the fight against the army of the living dead. Gates, fences, and large open areas surrounding the facility make it easier to locate and fend off any zombies that try to breach the perimeter. The solid structure of the building itself will help further deter intruders. A high outlook post within the shelter will also need to be quartered; from which, a designated “spotter” can survey the surroundings for any posing danger. Additionally and unquestionably, food and water are necessities whether zombies are seeking your flesh or not. In order to maintain proper health and nutrition while fighting the undead, food, water, and any other desired supplies will need to be collected and stored. In the midst of the out breaking chaos sprung from the apocalypse, the necessary supplies can be looted from stores or other sources. A large stock of each item is recommended so that it may last an extended period of time. Acquiring such supplies...

As time progresses, zombies seem to become a more prominent aspect of the American culture. Many people, along with thousands of experts, actually think that there could be a zombie apocalypse at some point in their lifetime. The zombie craze originally started with Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” This song set stage for zombie entertainment for the future. Over time, zombies have proven to “thrive in popular culture during times of recession, epidemic and general unhappiness” (Drenzer para 4). Since the United States is currently attempting to recover from a recession, zombies in entertainment are flourishing within American’s everyday lives. “The reason zombies are so powerful is that they capture an atheistic fear of the dead” (Marche para 4). Zombie Apocalypse Research Paper

...Some people scoff at the notion of a zombie apocalypse, but with our population’s increased use of chemically altering cosmetics, overused medications, toxic energy drinks, drastic plastic surgery procedures, and cell phones permanently fixed to our faces who knows what the long-term consequences may be. The people who will survive are the people who plan ahead for the unthinkable (and have large amounts of money to construct the perfect zombie-proof house). It is obvious to anyone who watches “The Walking Dead” or other pop culture classics where the undead rule that the first and best line of defense is a good shelter. Without proper protection, you are left exposed and vulnerable. However, with a perfectly located, tricked out post-apocalyptic pad, you can rest easy and ride out the apocalypse in luxury. The most important factor for apocalypse home security is location. By building my dwelling on an island with temperate weather, I will be better...

He also talks of different sorts of popular cultures which incorporate zombies and are utilized, for example, the movies Night of the Living Dead, White Zombie, the books The Zen of Zombies, Zombie Haiku, and the television series The Walking Dead.. By utilizing these references Parker helps demonstrate to us how zombies appear to ceaselessly draw our interest. The article additionally educates the reader about how zombies came and which prominent movies began to truly make the zombie what it is today. Parker also discusses the role and development of zombies and talks about how we have yet not reached the peak point of zombies. However not agreeing with Parker, it could be concluded that in fact zombies have reached the peak point. Zombies have turned very commercial, its only when something turns commercial it loses its essence and from that point can no longer flourish. Unlike where parker talks of the zombie ‘And now we really see him, framed disastrously in the skewed rear windshield, advancing toward us at an off-kilter zombie trot. Show Analysis: The Walking Dead

...The TV show that has captivated me for the past few years has been The Walking Dead, broadcast by the channel AMC. The show follows an ever changing cast that has to endure the world after a “zombie apocalypse.” This show is in its sixth season and I have been and avid viewer since the first episode which debuted with a black-and-white encore. The show grasps the attention of audiences across the world due to its gory scenes of transformed zombies and the mutilation shown to end the wandering on the planet. There is more to this cheesy plot than just survival. I am enthralled with the cast members, societal dilemmas and the levels of determination. The first episode starts with Rick, a sheriff, at the local police department who wakes up in the hospital after being shot in the line of duty. Rick is unaware of the state of the country at this time because he was hospitalized before it occurred. He wakes to a quiet hospital and no power to his life support system. As he stumbles about the hospital he realizes it’s empty and comes to a door with...

Zombies In American Culture

...In our modern society, zombies are prevalent in many forms of media, including: movies, TV shows and video games. The contemporary representation that we currently know zombies to be are mindless, carnivorous beings that are unaware of their actions. Usually, they are perceived to be large masses of slow moving, flesh eating individuals that ravage all forms of organic life in their way. As discussed in lecture, the idea of a zombie first originated in Africa. The etymology of the word itself, “zombie”, is derived from the “Kongo word for soul – nzambi” (McFarlane, 2017). African slaves brought to Haiti in the 17th and 18th century to serve as plantation workers were heavily involved with the idea of practicing Vodou, a religion based on West African beliefs and Christianity. Within this mixed religion, the idea of an afterlife for the individuals involved in its practice believe that there are two ways of dying: naturally and unnaturally....

...the story-telling devices used in comics. The term "comic book" arose because the first comic books reprinted humor comic strips. Despite their name, however, comic books do not necessarily only operate in humor, most modern comic books tell stories in a variety of genres from superhero to comedy. The comic book I’m focusing is on The Walking Dead By: Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard. The Walking Dead tells the story of a small group of survivors living in the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse. Most of the story takes place in the Atlanta metropolitan area, as the survivors search for a safe haven away from the shuffling hordes of predatory zombies who devour and infect any living thing they catch. The plot is focused primarily on the dilemmas the group faces as they struggle to balance their humanity with their survival. Unlike the usual comic books The Walking is a horror story with drama and also comedy in one. The Walking Dead received the 2010 Eisner Award for Best Continuing Series at San Diego Comic-Con International. The series was adapted into the AMC television series The Walking Dead, which premiered in 2010. The Walking Dead premiered on October 31, 2010 on the cable television channel AMC in the United States. The show received 5.3 million viewers, making it...

Primal Leadership Walking Dead

...Primal Leadership Introduction The Walking Dead television series is a great example of how different leadership styles are used in the survival of the group. The series is about a group of survivors in a post-apocalyptic world lead by Sheriff Rick Grimes, played by actor Andrew Lincoln. There are ongoing threats to the group’s existence, as well as new challenges that occur without warning. There are also examples of weak and strong leadership, just like there would be in any team environment. What I like is the multitude of leadership styles among The Walking Dead characters. The following is a breakdown of the six leadership styles; visionary, coaching, affiliative, democratic, pacesetting, and commanding and how different characters in the Walking Dead series represented each style. Visionary Leader While doing research for this class, I grasped how very important it is for leaders to have positive relationships with their followers. These relationships make for a smooth transition when leaders need their team to follow directions. Rick’s dream is to protect his kids, look after the group, and safeguard humanity. Goleman, Boyatziz, Mckee (2013) pg 58 stated, “Using inspiration together with the EI triad of self-confidence, self-awareness, and empathy, visionary leaders articulate a purpose that rings true for themselves and attune it to values shared by the people they lead.” An emotional intelligence competency Rick excelled at was transparency. Because Rick...
