The Profession of Arms reflects American ideas and values. The people of America place special trust and confidence in us to never betray certain principles. “I will always place the mission first, I will never accept defeat, I will never quit, I will never leave a fallen comrade.” These four short but strong statements are the Warrior Ethos that every Soldier regardless of combat or non-combat related MOS live by in order to go the extra mile. These common beliefs, values, and ethos bind us in a brother and sister-hood that empower us to place our mission first, not allowing distractions to defeat that purpose. The Warrior Ethos were written for Soldiers to live and fight by, both on and off the battlefield. However, the Warrior Ethos are remarkably more versatile to keep only within the confines of warfare. The Warrior Ethos goes substantially beyond the battlefield. As leaders we are taught to analyze situations with an organizational perspective. Sources for the study of traditional tattoos in Northern Luzon are very inadequate and merely make vague statements on the function and symbolic meaning of tattoos, as well as the relationship between the practice and culture as a whole. The statements likewise reveal a distinctly ethnocentric deportment. Until today, tattooing and tattoo designs in the Cordilleras are best understood within the context of headhunting. Headhunting was the only known reason for tattooing, and, to this day, no one knows exactly what tattoos signify. This paper provides insights into the roles and functions of the tattoos, and how the tattoos (batek) become cultural symbols of the intricate rituals brought about by community regimens of the Ilubo, Kalinga. Rejecting biologistic or psychologistic interpretations, Durkheim focused attention on the social-structural determinants of mankind's social problems. Durkheim presented a definitive critique of reductionist explanations of social behavior. Social phenomena are "social facts" and these are the subject matter of sociology. They have, according to Durkheim, distinctive social characteristics and determinants, which are not amenable to explanations on the biological or psychological level. They are external to any particular individual considered as a biological entity. They endure over time while particular individuals die and are replaced by others.
