...During this course, I been leaning to write with the help of different literary devices such as visual texts or books. For two of the major assignment for this course 1301 English I used images to write a rhetorical analysis about the negative side of Facebook and with the help of a book called The Intervention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd I wrote a literary analysis. Therefore, while reviewing those essays I found there are some mistakes with the structure of the essay, there are enough examples to support the main idea, and I need to improve grammatical mistakes. For a good essay the structure should include the three main parts an introduction, body, and the conclusion. On both of my essays I include those three parts, however the thesis statement...

...When I wrote my essay Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God I had some good parts and bad parts of the essay. I believe everyone can improve their writing in a certain way. No one is a “perfect” writer, and no one “never” makes mistakes. I could improve in two areas I noticed are my thesis in this essay and my visual pictures. Two things I did well on are the usage of rhetorical devices and introductory sentences. Pros and cons are what most people have in their essays or poems. My cons with my Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God are my thesis and my visual pictures. In my thesis I could improve them by just getting to the point in my essay and always referring back to it. The three main things that I need to work on to make a perfect thesis may be clearly identifies the subject of the paper, makes an assertion about that subject, one that allows for a range of discussion; and predicts the logical order you will follow in your discussion. With my visual pictures I need to create more enthusiasm and descriptive words. Or when giving quotes from the story I need to tie it back to the thesis or how they create visuals throughout the story. For my pros in my essay it was rhetorical devices and introductory sentences. For my rhetorical devices I scored high in this essay because I tied them into the story or back to the story really good. Also I identified them good; I can easily spot these rhetorical devices in a poem. My introductory sentences are also very good I believe, they...

...Analysis of a Agatha Christie Essay I feel that the author of The Enduring Appeal of Agatha Christie created a essay that is highly effective. I think this because the essay itself has a strong structure that conveys the authors ideas and points effectively. The essay follows the basic essay structure and includes good ideas with strong points to support it, and the essay also has a good thesis statement. This essay follows the essay structure of an introduction, body, and conclusion. Using this structure allows the essay to be organized and easy to read and understand. This essay includes each component in each part of the structure. In the introduction, the essay includes a general statement or topic, a thesis statement, and a brief summary of the main topics, arguments and points made in the essay. In the body paragraph, it includes sentences that support, expand and explain the points that are made in the topic sentence. Lastly, in the conclusion, it restates the main points made in the body paragraphs. This essay also includes many strong ideas and points about the topic the essay is on. When writing an essay it is important that you have strong points to talk about throughout your essay and you are able support your ideas in your essay as well. Also, throughout the body paragraph the author related his/her points back to the thesis statement. This allows all of the readers ideas and points to connect and allows the points to become stronger and have more ...

...words. This is roughly the number of words contained in a flippant, off-the-cuff Quora answer that requires no advance planning or forethought. It's an amount of writing that people will take about thirty seconds to a minute to read, so you barely need to have structure -- just flow your sentences together in a natural voice and you'll get to 250 words before you know it. By looking at samples and prolonging your preparation period (aka, procrastinating), you're spending way more time than you need to on an essay that is ephemeral, at best. Further, by spending so much time thinking about the thing (instead of just doing it), you're building it up to be a big, challenging hurdle instead of the straightforward task it is. Dwelling leads to more procrastination and its attendant guilt, which ignites a self-stoking cycle that's difficult to escape. 250 words is doable in 10 minutes; in the time you're likely to spend preparing for those ten minutes, you could probably write as many as a dozen 250 word essays, from which you could afterwards pick the best. ...STYLISTIC ANALYSIS OF VARIOUS TYPES OF ESSAYS In this chapter we describe different forms and styles of essay writing. These forms and styles are used by a range of authors, including university students and professional essayists. To characterize the peculiar features of the admission essay we would like to make stylistic analyses of an article. App. 1] The beginning of an essay, paragraph 1, is essential to making a good impression. We have elevated the level of diction here and improved the pacing to construct a more fluid beginning, including this sentence: "The injury itself was tendonitis, an elusive malady, not easy to pin down like a simple broken bone." Also, we have introduced a metaphor that will help the reader understand the seriousness of the injury, characterizing the pain as "a knife in my mind, sinking deeper the more I struggled." This will make it that much more impressive when you overcome the arm injury through sheer perseverance later in the essay. In the paragraph 2, a number of overly short sentences here have been combined into longer, more sophisticated phrasings. One example is: "I thought about how many famous soccer players are equally skilled with both feet, and wondered: could I learn to throw left-handed?" These changes help with both word count and readability issues. We have also eliminated or limited repetition by replacing the overused "frustrated" a variety of more illustrative phrasings. Paragraph...

...Everyone has written an essay in his life. Everyone has got marks for it. But was it a good essay? You will never know until a teacher puts a mark. How can you be sure that what you are writing will be good enough, that you will write a good essay? It is impossible to predict the reaction of a teacher on your essay anyway, even if you are that modest to consider it to be a good essay. What you believe to be good can be something unimpressive, ordinary, prosaic, boring, and even worse for your teacher. In order to avoid any problems with your work, you can have the best professionals in the field perform the task for you. In order to get this help, just submit an order as it described in the scheme below and the team of essaysReasy.com writers will write a truly good essay for you. Usually, your ideas are what the teachers value the most. Your opinion concerning the topic is what makes a great essay . There is no such a thing as bad opinion. Opinion might be wrong, although if you support your every word with historical/critical/theoretical evidence from any other source, your theory, even the craziest one, will have the right to exist on paper because otherwise it will be a fantasy, not an essay. If you decided to follow the easiest and the shortest path – go to the library and grab every book you see (not literary! Use your book list your teacher was supposed to give you at the beginning of the semester, or particularly for this assignment, - most likely he/she wants...

...I try to draw an analogy with the process of reading application essays. The bad. Ninety percent of the applications I read contain what I call McEssays - usually five-paragraph essays that consist primarily of abstractions and unsupported generalization. They are technically correct in that they are organized and have the correct sentence structure and spelling, but they are boring. Sort of like a Big Mac. I have nothing against Big Macs, but the one I eat in Charlottesville is not going to be fundamentally different from the one I eat in Paris, Peoria or Palm Springs. I am not going to rave about the quality of a particular Big Mac. The same can be said about the generic essay. If an essay starts out: "I have been a member of the band and it has taught me leadership, perseverance and hard work," I can almost recite the rest of the essay without reading it. Each of the three middle paragraphs gives a bit of support to an abstraction, and the final paragraph restates what has already been said. A McEssay is not wrong, but it is not going to be a positive factor in the admission decision. It will not allow a student to stand out. A student who uses vague abstractions poured into a preset form will end up being interpreted as a vague series of abstractions. A student who uses cliché becomes, in effect, a cliché. If we are what we eat, we are also what we write. Not only does a preset form lead to a generic essay, so does a generic approach to what is perceived as the right topic...

...Basic Elements of An Essay [pic] Introduction of the Essay The introduction should detail what is contained in the paper. The introduction is usually only a paragraph, three at the most. The writer should sum up the introduction with a TOPIC SENTENCE which supports the main idea of the essay OR CLARIFYING STATEMENT. This will allow the reader to know the subject of the paper and an introduction to that subject. This is one of the most important things cited by the professors. Writing a Purpose Statement An example of a purpose statement is ‘Mutual funds are backbone of the economy of any country’. The Body of the Essay Paragraphs - First sentence contains the topic sentence, which supports the main idea of the essay. - The following sentences contain main points you're making about that topic - Other sentences support those main points with examples, explanations, etc. (Who, what, where, when, how, etc) The body of the essay is essentially the "meat and potatoes" of the paper. Several paragraphs will explain the topic that you are discussing. The paper will prove or disprove the purpose statement. There will be many citations, references and information which will lead the reader to understand what the paper is about. The body must be relevant to the subject, with clear and concise thoughts. Jargon or very technical terms should be explained so the reader does not become confused. Do not attempt to make the paper meet the required length by using "fluff" -...

...Writing Essays 1. Getting started The worst part about writing an essay can be starting the process. Before you rush into doing a pile of reading, you need to be very clear what your essay is about and what you are actually being asked to do. Typical essay questions: a) How do organizations typically manage stress? Critically evaluate the evidence for the effectiveness of stress management. b) Critically assess the extent to which a Conceptual Framework may guide the accounting standard-setting process. c) Identify and analyse significant developments in technology impacting on IMC. Discuss how such developments might affect international marketers and notions of the audience. The important thing to do when you approach an essay is carefully unpacking the essay question. For example, in question (a) above, you are being asked to do two things. First, to describe how organizations manage stress, and then to examine the evidence regarding the effectiveness of stress management. The first part of the essay, therefore, will be fairly descriptive, and you will be looking to read books and journal articles that discuss the ways that organizations manage stress. Don’t rely too heavily on one book or one particular journal article. Try to read as widely possible and make notes as you do so (see handout on reading and note-taking). The second part of the essay is rather more difficult, and it is here that many students fall down and lose marks. The key...
