...King Easter, and could do his duties as King. Everyone was excited but two little rabbits were more excited than any other. Thumper, and Robby, the two sons of King Easter. One of the two would be chosen to be the new Easter Bunny! In the castle of Easterville King Easter was giving a speech to his sons about the responsibilities of being king. The brothers got ready for the ceremony. The ceremony was starting, both Robby and Thumper were prepared for whatever happened, at least that’s what they thought. Thumper and Robby went up for the coronation ceremony. After all the traditional ceremonial acts it was time to crown the king. King Easter stood in front of Thumper and Robby. He put the crown on one of their heads, it was Thumper! The new Easter Bunny, the one who would deliver eggs to all the kids this year. Everybody was celebrating all the rest of day. All but one bunny, Robby. “I’m older”, he thought, “the duty of the Easter Bunny is rightfully mine.” There was one week before Easter all the eggs were just getting finished up. Thumper, happier than ever. Robby lay in his bed feeling sad, then he thought to himself if I’m not a part of Easter why should anyone else be. “Easter shouldn’t be like this” he said “I will make it so everyone else feels just as I do” Robby started devising a plan to change everyone’s mind. It was the day before Easter, Thumper got up early to prepare for the big day. He went to the factory to check on the eggs, there was only one problem, they were...

...The exaggeration helps to highlight how hopeless Blacky feels in the final moments of the game. As Thumper charges towards him with the ball, Blacky thinks to himself, “… I was the only one … between Wangaroo and victory, was me. Mass of a stick insect.” Though Blacky knows he is the last hope, he feels powerless against the size of Thumper. He even compares himself to a stick insect, a fragile and weak bug against a grain silo. The imagery connected to a stick insect also implies the fear that Blacky has, that he will be crushed and ruined by the Thumper. This emotional reference helps to draw the reader in to the coming...

...night drinking at their local pub and not home with the family, and have a mouth that would make a truck driver blush. Then Sunday morning they are in the front pew praying for their hangover to go away. Another misconception about the Church and Christianity in a general since would be those “Bible Thumpers”. These would be the people that don’t discuss religion with people they tell you that Gods Word is the truth and aren’t willing to discuss any other view and are sometimes disrespectful to others views. I feel that one of the main things the church family can do is to act more Christian in their personal and social life. We all must remember that we represent God in everything we do down to the smallest action. Not one human is without sin though we should strive to be as close to God as we can. Back in my younger days I went to a certain dancing establishment was I just so happened to run in to three of the leaders from my local church. True I shouldn’t have been there and I am sorry for going there and have not been back there since. But the fact is Church leaders are judged harsher than the average Joe from the congregation. As I was talking about the “Bible Thumper ”once we find god we have this urge to tell everyone and spread the good news. But there is a right...

...Nicole Birdsong English 101 1/27/14 Essay 1 Hopping into Action On this warm, spring Florida day, the sun came streaming in through the wide open window. My eyes squint through the rays glinting off the blue pool, scanning for my dogs. They glance over what appears to be a small chunk off wood floating just off center in the deepest end of the pool. I continue to stare on for another minute, intrigued. My curiosity gets the best of me and I head out the back door into the sunroom and out to the porch, stopping just short of the pool. What appears to be hard brown wood is actually soft, fuzzy fur. I continue around to the farthest side of the pool and my mind puts together the image of a small baby bunny, its nose barely above the water line. There is no way of knowing how long that poor bundle of fur had been in the water for I had been in school all day. If there was any chance that this bunny is still alive, I needed to act fast to keep him that way. My brain was transmitting neurons pretty quickly at this point to try to rescue the little cottontail before it was too late. I knew the pool net was too far away as the nose dipped under. Clothes on and all, I dive in. Chlorine in my eyes, I swiftly fumbled around until my hand grasped the soaked coat. Keeping the bunny rabbit above water, I swim to the stairs as rapidly as my body could. Within seconds,(BANANAS) I clamber out of the water. Right off the bat, I’m noticing the bunny’s body temperature is...

...Gay Marriage Ruins the Current Stellar Institution of Marriage Marc S. Fedroff Everest University Online Gay Marriage Ruins the Current Stellar Institution of Marriage Starting with the last prompt of the assignment, according to our textbook, “Win-win orientations assume that there are usually ways to resolve differences so that everyone gains…When all people are committed to finding a mutually acceptable solution, a win-win resolution is possible” (Wood, 2009, p. 230). Unfortunately, here is the precise problem with the religious zealots who call themselves Christians. They are forever stuck in a win-lose orientation. What becomes ludicrous is they believe somehow, the human right to share love with an individual of the same sex in a committed relationship with all of the legal benefits will cause strife for them. None of the gay population is telling them to marry same-sex individual yet they insist, if gays want to marry and raise a family, it must be with someone of the opposite sex. Heterosexuals are doing such an exemplary job of getting marriage right that is common knowledge the divorce rate hovers around fifty percent. The point here is the INSTITUION OF MARRIAGE has been in the toilet for quite some time now and the only thing extending the legal right to gay couples will do is boost the economy with fabulously lavish weddings and then the inevitable lining of divorce lawyers’ pockets. Cynical humor is part of the gay culture’s way of dealing with the...

...Biology Gene Technology People have been altering the genomes of plants and animals for many years using traditional breeding techniques; this is an artificial selection that organisms that exhibits specific traits are chosen to breed. In recent decades, however, advances in the field of genetic engineering have allowed for precise control over the genetic changes introduced into an organism. (Theresa Phillips, 2008)Today, we can incorporate new genes from one species into a completely unrelated species through genetic engineering, optimizing agricultural performance or facilitating the production of valuable pharmaceutical substances. Some examples of genetically modified organisms are plants, animals and bacteria. Genetically modified organisms are all organism that has had a gene from one organism implanted into another organism in order to improve or change the genetic makeup of that organism. It can also be referred to as transgenic, due to the process being the transfer of genes from one organism to another. Other names also referred to are biotechnology, gene splicing, genetic engineering, or recombinant DNA technology, all of which meant the same thing as genetically modified crops. [ (Enquiries, 2007) ]Transferring genes from one organism to another, to enhance or improve that organism. Genetic Modification is done in a laboratory by extracting the desired genes from the organism and then implanting them into the other organism. When food is genetically modified...

...Benjamin Franklin Tilley (March 29, 1848 – March 18, 1907) was an officer in the United States Navy and the first acting governor of what is now American Samoa. He entered the Naval Academy at age 15 during the Civil War and graduated in 1866. In the wake of the Great Railroad Strike of 1877, he participated as a lieutenant in the military's crackdown against workers. During the 1891 Chilean Civil War, Tilley and a small contingent of sailors and marines defended the American consulate in Santiago, Chile. Commanding the gunship USS Newport in the Spanish–American War, he captured two Spanish Navy ships. After the war Tilley was promoted to captain and became the acting governor of Tutuila and Manua, present-day American Samoa, where he set legal and administrative precedents for the new territory. Tilley's successor, Captain Uriel Sebree, praised his "great ability, kindness, tact and sound common sense". He was promoted to rear admiral after almost 41 years of naval service, but died within a month from pneumonia. (Full article...) ...would you want to put another human being into a situation where they would not receive the care that they need? Nobody would want to do that, that is why some women opt for the better decision for them, which is abortion. As you can see there are many factors when it comes to abortion and how or why a women may choose this way. But the truth of the matter is women do have the rights to their own bodies, and are the only ones who know what is best for their life. With financial crisis, medical emergencies, and rape/ incest cases, happening all the time, we should give the respect that people deserve to make the decision for what is best for their life and how it may turn out. Just because someone is pro-life does not mean they are bible thumpers, and just because someone is pro-choice does not mean someone is a baby killer. Everyone has the right to their opinion and no one can sway them on the topic of abortion, but for now recognizing both sides is what really counts. ...

...People follow these leaders and give them inhuman like perfection. Then, when they don’t turn out to be wholesome and perfect like expected, the workers seem to just fall apart. It is human nature to see something and want it. When human nature kicks in and individuals have bad role models, aren’t one's actions also bad? If one had bad a leader doesn’t that make that person a bad role model? The line fades between right and wrong. Where will children learn good morals if they have bad role models? With many people with bad morals will mankind turn to religion? People have tried that and killed people for having different beliefs than them. To contradict popular belief, you don’t have to be religious to have morals. Religious people "Bible thumpers, Red Sea Pedestrians, or Mussie" have morals. With religion, most of them have morals that are laid out in writing for religion. Without religion, one has more control over what that individual stand for. “If we don’t stand for something we will fall for anything.” (quote investigator) Humans don’t necessarily need a supreme being to have an idea of what is right and what is wrong. After touching on home life, what is wrong with the country? Starting with domestic tranquility. 'Keeping the good ol’ homestead calm'. The citizens have the right to fix the land but just keep giving and giving until they have no more to give. With the national debt standing at about twenty trillion dollars (Federal debt clock) why worry about the starving...

...To kill a Mockingbird Journal entry #1 “Maycomb was an old town, but it was a tired old town when I first knew it. In rainy weather the streets turned to red slop…” Pg: 5 This quotation on chapter one is Scout’s introductory description of Maycomb. Scout emphasizes the slow pace, Alabama heat, and old fashioned values of the town. She writes of time when she “first knew” Maycomb, indicating that she embarks upon this recollection of her childhood much later in life, as an adult. It makes reference to the widespread poverty of the town, implying that Maycomb is in the midst of the great depression. As stated in the quote “There was no hurry, for there was nowhere to go, nothing to buy and no money to buy it with.” As been specified above Maycomb county was a ghost town. In the text on page six it clarifies how mysterious it was, “Maycomb County had recently been told that it had nothing to fear but fear itself.” To kill a Mockingbird Journal entry #2 “I feared I would lose it, I never loved to read. One does not love breathing.” Pg: 20 On chapter two scout talks about how she takes reading for granted. Losing it would be devastating to her. Scout compares it to not breathing anymore, reading, for little kids, is not a priority in Maycomb. Scout, however, has Atticus her father teach the incredible joy of reading to his children. This applies to the second sentence about breathing. Although she does not think to herself ‘I love breathing’ for there she does not realize...

...The Effect of Technology on Christianity: Blessing or Curse? By Dale B. Sims Last Sunday I worshipped with approximately 4000 other Christians at my church. My wife and I parked about a quarter of a mile from the building. A shuttle bus picked us up and drove us to the doors of the church. We entered the large, well-lit building and walked into the sanctuary. From the back of the room I saw row upon row of stadium seats filled with people. Everyone was conversing with their neighbor, a happy buzz of words filling the air. We found two empty seats and sat down. In front of us was a stage. Seated on the stage was a fifty-piece orchestra. Next to the stage, on either side and up high on the walls, were two very large projection screens, about 20 feet by 20 feet. Messages and pictures continuously flashed across the screens providing information concerning upcoming events at the church. Soon the orchestra launched into a rendition of a familiar hymn. That signaled the start of a service that followed the same format familiar to most evangelical congregations. There was a time of welcome. Some more announcements were made by one of the ministers. Suddenly the lights dimmed in the sanctuary and the huge screens on the walls showed a video of a young woman who gave us her testimony to the saving grace of Christ in her life. The video stopped and a live camera feed showed her being baptized by our pastor. The worshippers clapped, some cried, and loud exclamations could be heard throughout...
