“The Top 10 Tactics
Every Street Smart Person Knows”

First of all everyone and their mother will tell you to be aware of your surroundings, trust your instincts and yell
“fire” instead of “help”. This advice is all good advice, but since it’s almost common knowledge I’m going to briefly mention our take on these ideas and not “charge” you for it because they’re NOT on the list.

The basic rule of measure is if something feels wrong, it is.
Pay attention to that little voice inside your head. Women have “intuition” while men have a “gut feeling”. You’re more perceptive than you think. You have been evolving

for millions of years and “fear” is your friend when used in the manner in which it was intended. If you get “that feeling”, you need to implement a radical change of action. For example: if you’re looking for your car and you feel like you’re being followed, duck into a store and call someone.
If you’re going into your apartment, pretend to remember something you forgot in the car and go get it. This little change in behavior will be the difference of life and death at the cost of a handful of minutes. There are countless instances where people recalled seeing their attacker earlier in the day. Don’t let a little inconvenience cause you to sacrifice your life. Remember most people die in the wild because of shame. They ask themselves,
“What did I do wrong? How could I have gotten myself into this?" And so they sit there and they die because they didn't do the one thing that would save their lives.
If you learn one thing from this report it’s this: you will not sit there. At the end of the day ANY action is better than NO action. But of course, we’re moving well beyond these ideas to more of the tough questions like:

How do you know when you’re being set up?
How do you know for sure when someone is going to attack you?
Finally, how can you end this attempt on your life as fast as possible?

And more, much, much more, but enough of that, let’s get to the good stuff.
Maybe it's time to choose another route or move to a better neighborhood?

The Top 10 Tactics Every Street Smart Person Knows
1. Predators pick prey based on

the risk versus reward principle.

you must escape or defend. If their story is a little more elaborate, like a lost child, just tell them while you’re walking away, “This is something the police should handle; I’ll call them from my car.” Then change direction, duck into a store or a public place and contact the police.

4. Always make eye contact.

If Granny was more modest about her bingo winnings, she may have been with us for the holidays.

When known criminals were placed outside a Walmart and asked who they would pick as victims, the people they chose to avoid all had one thing in common regardless of race, size, woman or man. You guessed it, they all made eye contact. But not the psycho-stare, I want to kill the world eye contact. Just a half second glance just to acknowledge you see the person.

If you look like you have $100 in your pocket and a few credit cards, the bad guy might not go out of his way to stalk you.
But if you’re wearing a $5,000 watch and drive an S Class
Mercedes, he may be willing to invest the time and target you.
This is not saying don’t wear nice things and drive flash cars.
It is saying that when you have these things people notice, both good and bad.

2. All criminals fear three things: Being
Identified, Being Caught, and Being Injured.

Anytime you can indicate that there is a risk of one of these three things happening, you are most likely to be passed over for an easier target…unless of course you’re sporting a Patek Philippe Sky Moon Tourbillon watch (if that’s the case you should probably have me watching your back).

3. Just say NO.

In order to impose their will on you, criminals need to get close to you. To do that they use a technique we call a
“dodge”. A dodge is a question that is meant to stop you in your tracks and occupy your attention. Questions like “Do you have the time?” “Can you tell me how to get to a gas station?” or “Do you have change of a dollar?” all cause you to react the same way, they occupy your hands and your attention. While you’re pointing down the road giving directions they are closing the distance on you and will be all over you in a second. What you need to do is just keep moving and say “I don’t know?” or “No”. If they continue to follow you then their TRUE intentions are revealed and

Making eye contact can be difficult… ...for everybody.

5. Call the police.

Suspicious vehicle, call the police. Door of your house kicked open, call the police. My buddy who’s a local detective made one of the biggest busts of his career off of a suspicious vehicle call. We train cops, they love this stuff and you’re not a bother. You live in a community help them protect it and don’t pick fights you can avoid. This puts you in a

Suspicious vehicle calls often lead to good arrests.

situation that is difficult to defend in court. If you go to a person in a suspicious vehicle, confront him and you knock the snot out of him, the first question a prosecutor is going to ask you is “Mr. Smith, why didn’t you call the police.” Whenever possible, let the police do their job.

6. How to tell when someone is going to attack you.

When humans shift into fight mode in their “animal brain”

Before a fight, people regress to an animal state.

and hormones and adrenaline are dumped into their body as they prepare for physical violence they will display some or all of these tendencies unless they have otherwise practiced suppressing them. If you are in a situation and the person you’re dealing with displays some or all of these behaviors they are going to attack you. They will use one syllable responses. When you’re in fight mode you can no longer reason. Sentences will be reduced to one word answers, nods and grunts. They will start to stretch their neck and arms. They will take their jacket or shirt off. Some people think this is because the person wants to show off their muscles. But it actually has more to do with the desire to shed weight and excess baggage to increase mobility.
“The pre-fight dance”
Before a fight they will do the “chicken dance”. No, not the one at the wedding that everyone does after a few too many trips to the bar. They will start to nod their head back and forth slightly. This is a physiological reaction to the stress and is difficult to suppress.

7. Assume the worst.

No one goes into a situation thinking they’re going to get their ass kicked, bad guys are no different. They are going to have an edge. It might be a weapon, friends (especially the ones you don’t see) or just sheer size strength or even skill. Let’s put it this way, he chose the moment and point of contact, you didn’t.

8. Never, ever, ever “trust” your assailant.

You have no idea who you’re dealing with. The problem is you project your reasoning and values onto your assailant.
Due to the simple fact that this person decided to rob you should be a clear indication that you have two completely different sets of values.
The BTK killer (Bind, Torture Kill) Dennis Rader is a prime example of this. How does one man slaughter a family that had two grown adult male athletes and grown capable females?
Easy, he asks them politely. He would come into the house and rob the family at gun point. After it was over he would say, “Look, I know you’re going to contact the police as soon as I’m out of here so in order to buy me some time,
I need you to tie up everyone and then I’ll secure you.
After that, I’m taking your car and I’ll be on my way.” To a reasonable person this sounds LOGICAL.
That’s the problem when you’re dealing with a sociopath. They sound oh so normal.
Once everyone was tied up he wasn’t leaving, he was just beginning.
Dennis Rader, Veteran, Father of Two, ADT Home Security
Installer, Federal Census Taker, Dog Catcher...Serial Killer

9. If you’re cornered by two people and one of them is talking and the other is silent, who do you hit first?

10. Before you attack, ask him how his mom is?

When dealing with a situation that you know is going to escalate (refer to numbers 3 and 6) ask a question. I like the “I saw you’re mom the other day, how is your mother doing?” This will get him to pause a second. Now he’s not thinking of you but he’s going through the list in his head, do I know this guy, does he know my mom, I hate my mother…when he’s formuEven the most hardened criminal will pause to think about his mom, no matter how ugly she is- hey wait a second.

lating a response, knock him out.

The guy on the right is just begging for it.

Hit the quiet one first and then immediately go for the talker. The quiet one is too busy ramping up to knock your block off (see number 6 for the reason why).

Six Methods to Knock a Man Out
(or worse) with Your “Bare Hands”
The term “bare hands” refers to any method that doesn’t involve a weapon. Feet of course will be shod in shoes, sneakers or boots.
Before we get starting I want to point out one thing: there is no joy in killing or hurting another human being. There shouldn’t be. The only thing you should feel is relief, relief that you survived to see your family and your loved ones again. We practice and prepare so that we can live life knowing that we have specific reactions to some of the horrible situations. If you were falling off of a ledge would you not cling to the edge with all you have? If you were stuck in the pounding surf wouldn’t you give everything to reach the surface? If your child was trapped in a burning building wouldn’t you rush into save her?

When faced with a physical confrontation you need to approach it with the same zeal you would in a man versus nature survival situation. At the end of the day, no one should ever put their hands on you. A simple push could cause you to trip, fall and hit your head resulting in severe brain damage or death. The intent probably wasn’t to maim or kill, but that doesn’t change the fact that it didn’t happen.
We are not violent people, we study and understand violence and seek to end it quickly. The faster you end the contact the less chance you have of injury. We do not a fight, we react to violence. No matter where you live, every person has the right to defend him or herself when you feel your life and wellbeing are in danger.

1. Edge of hand or forearm to the side of the neck.

3. Edge of hand, forearm, fist, boot, strangulation or choke to the front of the throat.

Attacking the windpipe with a strike or strangle will crush or collapse it until the sides are close enough that the mucus lining of the throat will seal the passage way and cut off the airflow to the lungs thus suffocating the target.

4. Striking the temple or the trigeminal nerve with a fist, elbow, heel of hand, boot or knee. The edge of had: what’s was good enough for your grand pappy is good enough for you.

“Corny” judo chop maybe. Thanks to Austin Powers this has become the most overlooked knock out technique in the world. Here’s a brief history lesson. Mike Meyers was a fan of early Bond films and other spy shows like The Saint and The Avengers. These shows prominently featured edge of hand an open hand strikes, why? Because the people who were the fight choreographers on these shows were
World War II veterans trained in hand to hand combat.
This is before kung fu and Hollywood fight scenes were designed to look flashy. In short the reason these techniques were use is because they guys coaching the actors actually knocked people out with these methods.
A hard blow with the edge of hand or forearm will cause unconsciousness due to the disruption of blood flow through the carotid artery and shock to the nerves that surround this area depending on the force used.

2. Edge of hand, forearm, heel of hand knee or boot to the back of the neck or top of the spine.

Fight ender: one shot to the top of the spinal cord and it's all over.

If struck hard enough the spinal cord and the
Medulla Oblongata will be crushed and damaged.
This part of the brain controls all breathing, blood flow and all the involuntary functions of the human body. Any serious impact will inhibit these functions from operating.

Hitting the trigeminal nerve will turn his lights out.

While attacks to the face are generally not fatal and are only used to create distraction and opportunity to deliver more effective and lethal attacks there are two areas that are effective:
a. The temple can be struck with enough force to cause unconsciousness or death.
b. The trigeminal nerve in the face has a trigger point right along the side of the mouth in the mustache line.
You will notice that most knock outs in MMA and boxing occur when this part of the chin is struck.
When the head “twists and snaps” the legs go.

5. Striking the bottom of the chin with a “chin jab”.

This technique is used from about 6 inches or less from your target and is delivered with the heel of the hand to the underside of the target’s chin. While the initial point of contact
The Chin Jab, one of the most devat the chin will cause astating yet "unknown" techniques. damage, there is a whiplash effect that will actually break the neck. Especially is this technique is combined with a “hugging” or pinning maneuver to the target’s lower back.

6. Crushing or striking the male genitalia.

The “wedding tackle” is a popular and effective target and if hit, squeezed or stomped with enough force it will produce unconsciousness, shock and sometimes
(but rarely) death. It might not kill him, but it will definitely kill
Squeezing his “grapes” will make his love life. Striking him whine...get it? the genitals will cause pain and incapacitation while squeezing and twisting may cause death.

I reiterate in saying that we take no joy in violence, only relief in survival. We have spent a good portion of our lives studying and dealing with violence. You need to deal with people willing to use violence to impose their will on you swiftly and brutally.
To quote the infamous Hell’s Angel Chuck Zito, “Treat me good, I’ll treat you better, treat me bad, I’ll treat you worse.” Train Honestly,

The Battle of Takur Ghar

...How The Battle of Takur Ghar Changed Small Unit Tactics. Special Operation Forces (SOF) operate in remote locations around the world. Most people have little to no knowledge of what takes place within these elite units. There have been many instances throughout history that influenced how future wars would be fought. Friendly and enemy tactics change regularly depending on the enemy and where the fighting takes place. Currently our country is still fighting a war in Afghanistan. Many battles have taken place and many of these battles changed the tactics we are using this very second. The very unfortunate events that took place in March of 2002 in the mountains of Afghanistan during The Battle of Takur Ghar forever changed the way SOF operates in combat. These changes significantly altered the way SOF is allowed to infill troops on ground, in many instances making the missions less effective. The Battle The Battle of Takur Ghar started out as a simple mission where two Seal Teams were supposed to be inserted by two separate helicopters in order set up an observation post on the peak of the mountain named Takur Ghar. The U.S. Forces had no idea that the Landing Zone (LZ) at the peak had two enemy bunker positions that were well hidden and concealed by snow and foliage. The fighting positions even remained undetected from our aerial reconnaissance aircrafts. The first helicopter approached the LZ for landing and was immediately struck by a Rocket Propelled Grenade...

Failure Modes

...Top three modes are focused on the reduced capacity of hospitals, the financial and geographic barriers, and the care and reimbursement difficulty. Therefore, the tactics for the reduced capacity of hospitals will be to stop regulating hospitals to the extreme. The authors suggest that “patients are placed in hallways with no direct nursing observation during periods of crowding. Indeed, some patients who are very ill must remain in the waiting room” (Derlet & Richards, 2008). The tactics for the financial and geographic barriers is to locate patients from all the regions, but with the particular limit. And the last one but not the east one is built on providing care only to patients with emergencies. According to the authors of the article “Ten Solutions for Emergency Department Crowding,” it must be highlighted that “a more cost-effective, appropriate, and efficient method of treating non-emergent medical problems occurs in urgent or primary care clinics, provided these are available” (Derlet & Richards, 2008). As a result, all of it can lead to the high level of prevention the Emergency Room waiting time. These...

This document is a secondary source written in 2014 by an author name Alan Rohn published on the website, thevietnamwar.info. The purpose of this source is to present a simple and general informing document about how US tactics were ineffective during the Vietnam War, resulting in a defeat for the U.S.. The value of this source is the direct reference to U.S. operations and presidential decisions surrounding the Vietnam War, presenting clear information historians can use to further evaluate how U.S. tactics failed specifically in military operations and politically. Kamikaze Bombings in World War 2

...pilots killed thousands in New York and Washington, and as suicide terrorists kill innocent civilians worldwide, it is important to note that history clearly shows, that those who turned to systematic use of suicide warfare, lost their war. In addition to the Japanese Kamikaze pilots air campaign, the essay also explores other suicide weapons and tactics in World War 2, and the military and cultural rationale of suicide warfare, in order to better understand this type of fanatic threat that the free world is facing once again. Kamikaze pilots - Japan's last weapon Kamikaze, which means "Divine Wind" in Japanese, was Japan's last attempt to balance the ever increasing technological and material advantage of the American forces advancing to Japan. The Kamikaze attack tactic was suggested on October 19, 1944, by vice-Admiral Onishi of the Japanese Navy, when he was assigned to command the air attacks against the huge American invasion fleet off the Philippines, and then realized that he had less than 100 operational aircraft for this task. There was no way to sink or even severely damage the American fleet in any conventional tactic, so the Admiral needed a force multiplier, a way to get a significantly greater striking power from a given force. The solution was obvious. Guided weapons provide dramatically greater accuracy and lethality than unguided weapons, producing much greater damage per weapon unit and per sortie. Such weapons already existed and were operational for...

As, the 101st nervously prepares to engage a Panzer Tank, which has them outmanned and outgunned, they hear a whistling sound in the distance believed to be an aircraft. Before they know a P-51 Mustang fighter plane, also known as a “Tank Killer” swoops in and knocks the Panzer out. Unexpectedly, the airborne troops open fire. A few long seconds later, the Panzer Tank sits smoldering in flames and a platoon of Nazis lays dead all around. Never before has the world, scene such a vast arsenal of weapons and tactics used. This will be reflected on the amount of lives, military and civilian, lost in the short span of 1939-1945. The devastation that took place would not just be repaired and forgotten. There is still evidence all over the Europe, North America, and Asia, of World War II and the lives that were lost. Not only was this the coming of an age, for military powers, but World War II also brought about many things that have become used for non-military jobs. Current Talent Management Function

...Current Talent Management Function Jose A. Cortes Walden University Abstract When developing a talent management transformation many steps must be taken before implementing a strategy. One of those steps is to create a Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis. For the purpose of this paper, the 2010 Aaron’s Incorporated Form10K will be used to analyze and formulate twelve questions that will address the external and internal factors that comprise the analysis. These questions will be instrumental to the alignment of the talent management initiative with the organizational strategy. Current Talent Management Function Having a clear understanding of how a Human Resource (HR) transformation connects to the context of the business is paramount when designing strategies. Once the business leaders and HR professionals have established the needs measured against the business challenges they can design the strategies. Organizations must have the capability to deliver promises to customers. A key factor for this deliverable is talent. Companies must invest on securing candidates that are competent and committed. Ulrich et al (2009) stated that assuring competent employees comes as leaders buy (bring in new talent), build (develop existing talent), borrow (access thought leaders through alliances or partnerships), bounce (remove poor talent), and bind (keep the best talent). When it comes to managing talent, as in any other...

But one of the most critical and important characteristic an individual must, is the ability to refrain oneself from becoming emotionally attached to any case, because that would create bias. The usual salary range of an ordinary police detective is about an annual income of $75,000. However, if an individual makes it to the top ten percent, meaning they are one of the best, then they have a possibility to make over $100,000 a year. The typical work hours are about 8 to 9 hours a day, Monday through Friday, but as a detective you are always on call. The only benefits a police detective has are: advanced weapon training, better physical health, and development of better police tactics. The usual a annual salary of S.W.A.T. members is about $56,000. But again, if someone were to make it within the top ten percent, then they could make up to $85,000 dollars a year. S.W.A.T. members only get called out for emergencies, like riots, suicide attempts, hostage situations, drug raids, etc. The typical hours a member works is about 15 hours a month, if not every two months. ...implement policy that is intended to disrupt internal subversion. The objective is to combat enemy insurgents and their agenda, in order to develop a peaceful infrastructure. The theatre of conflict both on U.S., and foreign soil, (namely Iraq, and Afghanistan) consist of enemies who do not have the capabilities to engage our coalition forces through conventional warfare. Conventional warfare is: opposing forces who engage one another using conventional weapon systems and tactics, in order to degrade or destroy their opponents abilities to operate. Due to the superior capacity of coalition forces both economically, and tactically, the way in which the enemy operates in current theatre has deviated from conventional forms of fighting. Enemy Insurgents use unconventional warfare in their fighting tactics, and this irregular warfare involves many actors from civilian population to enemy combatants, and resources. Because of the fast changing wartime climate, the DoD has developed policy that was nonexistent a mere ten years ago. The DoD has developed the Counter Insurgency Initiatives in order to implement policy that gives guidance to actors involved in current theatre combat operations. Insurgency is the organized use of subversion and violence, to seize, nullify, or challenge political control of a region (COIN Initiative 2009). Counterinsurgency (COIN) places great demands on the ability of bureaucracies to work together with allies, and more increasingly non-governmental organizations...

Economic Freedom and Wealth

...11/06/2012 Introduction Economic Freedom is an individual or corporation’s ability to exchange any goods or services without being forced to do so. Since everyone does not think or respond to a specific situation alike, each person is granted the freedom to respond in a manner they feel is appropriate and beneficial to his or her current situation. Economic freedom is heavily dependent on characteristics such as empowering individuals, an open competitive market, and does not discriminate in order to allow all parties involved a chance to be successful. Economic Freedom Index In Heritage Foundation’s release of the 2012 Index of Economic Freedom, the top ten countries range from Hong Kong to the United States. Economic freedom is determined by evaluating 10 components to arrive at the final index number. Each component is scored on a scale between 0 and 100 with zero being the lowest score and 100 being the highest. The overall economic freedom index number is an average of the 10 individual freedoms. In an effort to increase the understanding and readability of the economic freedom index, the 10 economic freedoms were grouped into four categories. The table below lists the 10 economic freedoms and the category in which it is classified under. |Rule of Law |Limited Gov’t |Regulatory Efficiency |Open Markets ...
