Challenge
When I was a platoon sergeant, the changes in the training schedule always bothered me. Sometimes, the training schedule changes at the last minute and those changes are not informed in time for all levels of the chain of command. When that happened, as a leader I got angry about that. In my mind, after training activities were approved and the decision of how it would be executed was taken, it should no longer change. If there was a change in the training schedule, all levels of the chain of command should be informed, at least with some advance. I always thought that situations like those disqualified me as a leader and put me in a situation of embarrassment.

How to implement the skill: It could help me to adapt to new situations, and be aware that sometimes information may not come in advance. In addition, it could help me to know how to deal with my counterproductive thinking that I would not be a good leader if I need to change the training schedule.

What is the skill: stop catastrophic thinking, reducing anxiety, and improving problem solving by identifying the worst, best, and most likely outcomes from changes in training schedule.
Why I selected it: Put it in Perspective would help me to increase optimism and reduce anxiety from training schedule changes.
How to implement the skill: It could help me to reduce my anxiety, increase my optimism, and assess changes the in training schedule in a better way. In addition, it would allow me to create a plan to deal with most likely outcomes from training schedule changes.

Why I selected this competence: To identify my impulses, emotions, and physiology. Also to identify how to express emotions
