... Introduction In Oxford Dictionary, the popularized term UFO is an acronym for “Unidentified Flying Object” which means any object seen in the air that is not identifiable. These unusual aerial phenomena have been discussed and spotting for centuries, however, according to Wikipedia, the UFO craze really started in 1947 from Roswell UFO incident, after the Second World War. Since then, many UFO sightings have been reported worldwide. Yet, almost all of them end up being IFOs – Identified Flying Objects, as bright planets or stars, aircraft, balloons, flares, peculiar clouds, meteors, and satellites. The remaining sightings are hard to confirm due to the lack of photographic taken, inaccurate reporting, or delusions. Some people have given evidences to support the appearance of the UFOs, arguing that there is a conspiracy to hide the truth. The paper deals with UFOs phenomenon, which is an unexplained aerial event that has happened for a long time. It discusses the evidences of UFOs’ existence and the question of whether we are not alone in this universe as well as the theories surrounding these aerial events. 2. Discussion of findings 2.1. The Evidences For centuries, the UFOs reports have been familiar with people throughout the world. According to UN (2011), it is estimated that since 1947, about 150 million people have witnessed the UFO phenomenon and most of the reports from these people are general sighting. Many picture and video have been taken and...

...UFOs, Underground Bases, and Government cover-ups Julian Mercado DeVry University, ENG135 October 1, 2010 UFO, Underground Bases, and Government cover-ups Introduction UFOs have been seen by people all over the world. People of different cultures and ethnicities have different names for these unknown craft. In Spanish it is “objeto volante no identificado”, and in German it is actually UFO. Regardless of what race you are, UFO means the same thing, “Unidentified flying Object”. Let me be clear on this. It means it is a flying object that cannot be identified. We will delve into the world of UFOs and underground military installations, and examine the history of UFOs, their hot spots, and look into evidence of government cover-ups. UFO History Unidentified flying objects have been around a long time, one of the earliest sightings in 593 BC, recorded in the Bible in the book of Ezekiel 1:16. Ezekiel talks of encountering a flying object near Cheber River Chaldea, in today’s Iraq. "Now as I looked at the living creatures, I saw a wheel upon the earth beside the living creatures, one for each of the four of them. As for the appearance of the wheels and their construction: their appearance was like the gleaming of beryl” (1, Ezekiel 1:16 English standard version, 2010). Perhaps it sounds like something out of a science fiction movie, but many historians have taken this biblical account seriously. He described what he saw with words and phrases from the reality and time...

...The UFO phenomenon has become one of the most controversial and culturally embedded supernatural beliefs to emerge in the Western world during the later half of the twentieth century. Reports of strange flying objects in the sky have been recorded from the dawn of human history. The earliest UFO sightings can be found in 4th century Chinese texts, claiming that a "moon boat" hovered above China every 12 years. Other enthusiasts cite the Book of Ezekiel, in which an inquisitive ship dropped from the sky and landed in Chaldea, modern-day Kuwait. A flourish of sightings occurred near Rome in 218 B.C. and again in Germany in 1561. During World War II, Allied pilots coined the term foo fighters for the bizarre orbs of light that flew alongside their planes during combat (Stephey, 2009). Although sightings have been reported for centuries, it was the sighting by American Pilot Kenneth Arnold in 1947 that sparked the current public interest in the UFO phenomenon. Days later, the foundations of today’s UFO beliefs were perpetuated by a report that the U.S. Army had recovered alien bodies and a crashed “flying disk” in Roswell, New Mexico. The press originally reported the recovered material was from a UFO, however higher military authority quickly dismissed this report. The United States Air Force (USAF) claims the downed aircraft was a top-secret weather balloon designed to spy on Soviet forces. This retraction from the USAF caused people to question the events that took place in...

...To Infinity and Beyond until Across the Universe Have you ever wondered if there are any extraterrestrial life forms in the universe? An extraterrestrial is defined as life that does not originate from Earth. It is often also referred to as alien. “Alien” is a very familiar word even though many of us have never met or seen them. They are in TV or movies, and especially the Hollywood productions love to make movies about extraterrestrials. For example, ET (1982) is one of the famous SF movies. The alien, ET is very friendly to people, and it has an ability of making object flying. Since they are only a part of blockbuster movies, most of times people are careless about aliens; however, there are many incidents that show they are real. There are three significant signs that prove they are real such as we are able to suspect another life form in an infinite universe, have UFO sighting everywhere in the world, and have experiences of many people’s alien abduction. First, there must be another life form among the limitless galaxies. Since the universe began in the Big Bang about 15 billion years ago, it has constantly expanded. Therefore, the universe is infinite and Earth is just considered like a grain of sand. The universe is divided into two parts; the observable and the non-observable. There are countless planets and solar systems in the observable universe. Is it true that the Earth is the only planet where life exits in the infinite universe? If there are sunlight and...

...will never really know because there is not any solid evidence. The only evidence is the testimony of people who have supposedly seen something out of the ordinary. There have been reports of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) all over the world and even reports of people being abducted by strange beings. Are people making all this up or are they really seeing something from another world? In the article “Extraterrestrial encounters: UFOs,” Alexander Geppert, an Emmy Noether Research Group Director at Freie Universitat Berlin, contends that people throughout the country and around the whole world have seen UFOs. The size of the UFOs seen can vary from eyewitness to eyewitness. The first UFO sighting occurred on June 24, 1947. While flying his plane, pilot Kenneth Arnold reported seeing nine objects, glowing bright blue-white, flying in formation over Washington State’s Mount Rainier. After the Arnold sighting, a “reputed” UFO crash in Roswell, New Mexico occurred on July 8, 1947; this crash is known as the Roswell incident. Reported UFO sightings in Great Britain, North America, Japan and Eastern Europe, all within weeks of each other, showed a global phenomenon. People refer to these sighting as the “First Waves” of UFOs. Immediately following these encounters from 1947 to 1953, UFOs invaded popular culture; they were everywhere from movies to music. Movies portrayed UFOs as flying discs and aliens were pictured with small bodies, huge heads and big eyes. According to Geppert...

...Extraterrestrial Hypothesis The extraterrestrial hypothesis (ETH) is the hypothesis that some unidentified flying objects (UFOs) are best explained as being physical spacecraft occupied by extraterrestrial life or non-human aliens from other planets visiting Earth. Etymology Origins of the term extraterrestrial hypothesis are unknown, but use in printed material on UFOs seems to date to at least the latter half of the 1960s. French Ufologist Jacques Vallee used it in his 1966 book Challenge to science: the UFO enigma. It was used in a publication by French engineer Aimé Michel in 1967,[1] by Dr. James E. McDonald in a symposium in March 1968[2] and again by McDonald and James Harder while testifying before the Congressional Committee on Science and Astronautics, in July 1968.[3] Skeptic Philip J. Klass used it in his 1968 book UFOs--Identified. In 1969 physicist Edward Condon defined the "Extra-terrestrial Hypothesis" or "ETH" as the "idea that some UFOs may be spacecraft sent to Earth from another civilization or space other than earth, or on a planet associated with a more distant star," while presenting the findings of the much debated Condon Report. Some UFO historians credit Condon with popularizing the term and its abbreviation "ETH". Chronology Although ETH, as a unified and named hypothesis, is a comparatively new concept - one which owes a lot to the saucer sightings of the 1940s–1960s, it can trace its origins back to a number of earlier events such as the now...

...The Mystery Behind the Spiritual Alien Agenda Beryl King 12 March 2012 The Search for Earth-like Planets December 5, 2011 must have been an exciting day for astronomers all over the world as NASA announced to the public the discovery of an Earth-like planet potentially able to support life. The planet, 2.4 times the size of the Earth, is six hundred light-years away in what astronomers call the “Goldilocks Zone”, an area in which a planet has an ideal temperature because of its distance from a star. It orbits around a star similar to the sun of the Earth, and the temperature of its surface is habitable at 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Scientists are hopeful that this planet might possess water and land, but they are not sure as of the moment if the majority of it is made up of solid, liquid or gas (Bloxham). Kepler 22-b is just one of the extrasolar planets observed by NASA that has a probability to be inhabited by extraterrestrial life forms. Since 1960, NASA has funded different exobiology projects, including Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI), in hopes that astronomers can find evidences of life in outer space. Thinking that extraterrestrials would likely leave something behind to signal other intelligent beings during their exploration, astronomers of SETI previously tried to detect interstellar probes to be able send messages back to them, but until now, none have been discovered. Despite this, scientists working on SETI have not given up, focusing more on...

...History has shown us that throughout time, the human race has been fascinated with mystery. From ridiculous theories, such as aliens building pyramids, to the well picked over, yet still unyielding mystery of Easter Island, people never fail to find a story to ponder. However, arguably one of the most controversial mysteries is the mystery of Roswell, New Mexico. In July, 1947, Mac Brazel discovered some debris that he thought was from a UFO. Later the US. government assured the public that it wasn’t from an alien ship (The Roswell Files). The question is, was it really aliens? To this day is sure, and so the efforts of many remain fruitless. However, countless researchers continue to debunk the mysteries of the crash in Roswell, New Mexico....

...Wes Bodnar Mrs. Mckeown Honors English 10 9 December 2015 Extraterrestrial Life Really Does Exists Philosophers and astronomers alike have always been always asked one question, “Are we alone?” The existence of alien life has been a controversial topic since before the earliest civilizations. There have been countless hoaxes trying to prove the existence of aliens, but there are also a number of compelling reasons that support the existence of alien life. For example, there is a high probability they exist based on statistics, because life can travel from planet to planet, and there have been thousands of extraterrestrial sightings and encounters; it is highly probable that aliens exist. First off, aliens can be proven to be real by some simple probability and statistics. Our solar system is just one of tens of billions of solar systems in just the Milky Way Galaxy. There are so many possibilities of life in just one galaxy, and there are hundreds of billions of galaxy’s in the universe! Earth is just one of a seemingly endless amount of planets, so it’s hard to imagine that Earth has the only abundance of life in the entire known universe. Also, in the article, “The Likelihood of Extraterrestrial Life” it explains that all humans are made up of three main elements: hydrogen, oxygen, and carbon. Actually, all known life is mainly composed of these “ingredients”. This knowledge suggests that there are many extraterrestrials to be found across the cosmos because all...

...Could it be that the United States Government is covering up the existence of aliens? It is believed that the United states Government was covering up information pertaining to UFO sightings in Roswell, Mexico. The Government has sealed several documents discussing both incidents. Melanie Eversley from USA today states “Documents regarding the alleged landing of beings from outer space are locked up at the CIA’s headquarters in Langley, Virginia.” Witnesses have been interrogated and threatened to not speak on what they’ve seen or heard (Blake,34). It all began In July of 1947, something strange happened, a large unidentified flying object was spotted in the sky and crashed in the vast desert of Roswell. A rancher named William Brazel found metallic sticks held together with tape, chunks of plastic and foil reflectors, and scraps of a heavy, glossy, paper-like material. Immediately Brazel called the local sheriff department and spoke with sheriff George Wilcox and stated that he might have recovered the remains of a flying saucer. Wilcox, according to various sources, contacted military authorities at the Roswell Army Air Field, where official Major Jesse Marcel was sent to investigate. After the findings were examined officials were sent to take aways the remaining’s of the crash. This sighting caused chaos in the town of Roswell. There were many eye witness reports of alien like creatures that were next to the destroyed craft. Witnesses who saw the crash site, before confronted...

...William McCarthy noticed something strange about his horse pond. He went out to investigate and found a perfectly round hole three feet in diameter in the center of the frozen pond; a pond with ice eighteen inches thick. There was about eight inches of slush around the hole which led him to believe that something had melted the ice. When he looked in, he saw what appeared to be a black box approximately one foot square. He went back to get a rake, and he tried to remove the strange box. He found that it was submerged in about three feet of mud at the bottom of the pond. Worrying that it was a satellite or debris from an aircraft, he called the police. This call was to be the start of a bizarre chain of events. The police arrived followed by people from the Civil Defense and the National Guard. They used Geiger counters to measure the level of radiation at the site and came up with very high readings of four roentgens. William McCarthy was told to keep his horses and his family away from the pond. The family was told by State Assistant Attorney General Greg Smith not to mention the incident to anyone. Despite the plea for secrecy, by the afternoon, the press had arrived, along with the state police and eventually, staff from the Pentagon. The Investigation into the...

...Case Study 1: The Curious Case of Gary McKinnon By Aicha Doudou CCJS 390 Professor Daniel Draz University of Maryland University College Gary McKinnon was a Scottish hacker who hacks into NASA computers to search for evidence of aliens and extraterrestrial technology. He believes the NASA and other US government were hiding something from the public and that they had classified documents about Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs). It all started in 2000 when he decided to look for UFO evidence on the U.S. government's computer systems. He began obsessively researching ways to break into the machines. Using the Perl programming language, he wrote a small script that he says allowed him to scan up to 65 000 machines for passwords in under 8 minutes. After dialing up the government systems, he ran the code and made an astonishing discovery: Many federal workers failed to change the default passwords on their computers. On these unsecure machines, McKinnon installed a software program called Remotely Anywhere, which allows remote access and control of computers over the Internet. McKinnon could then browse through the machines at his leisure and transfer or delete files. Because he was able to monitor all activity on the computers, he could log off the moment he saw anyone else logging on. It is claimed that between February 2001 and March 2002, Gary McKinnon hacked into dozens of US army, navy, air force, and Department of Defense computers, as well as 16 NASA computers...

...believe in the possibility of extraterrestrial beings rather than the nonexistence of them. Greek philosophers believed that there were vast amounts of different worlds, all with inhabitants and societies. Later, the view that the Earth is unique, and is the only planet able to sustain life, became supported. However, Copernican ideas in the 1600’s suggested there may be life on other planets or even the moon. But when it was discovered that the moon has no atmosphere, the idea of life diminished. When atmospheric carbon dioxide was discovered on mars in 1947, hopes began to rise again. Specifically in the 1920’s there were claims of alien radio signals, but interest seemed to decrease again by the 1950’s. Many unidentified flying object (UFO) sightings were reported beginning in the 1940’s, but by the 1960’s most of these...

...In 1982, E.T, the movie about an extraterrestrial alien who crashed on Earth, came out. Ever since then, people have wondered if there really is something out there. Over half of United States citizens believe that there is extraterrestrial life. Twenty percent of them believe they are already walking among us. So the big question is this, Are we Alone in the Universe? Have you ever wondered how big the universe is? Think about .3%, picture it in your head, now add 50 zeros in front of .3%. That’s how much volume the Earth takes up in the universe. Scientists believe that there are between 100 billion to 200 billion other galaxies. Scientists also believe there could be 10 billion planets that could sustain life. Now, those planets don’t have to be like Earth. Life can adapt very well, as long as it has the bare minimum. What we think we need to survive could be unnecessary on that planet. So, given the estimations, the odds that we are not alone have skyrocketed....
