...ahead of us. We survived a lot to get here. We survived the grueling class hours, the teachers, and the mountains of homework. We also survived the five bomb threats we had this year, and the lockdown that came with them. We could not have survived this far without our parents to back us up. They were there to encourage us to believe that we could achieve what we set out to do. It was our parent’s support that gave us hope when we were down and struggling. It is for these reasons that today’s victory also belongs to our parents. Together we stand here on the edge of time itself looking to the future. Now we must seize the future and strive to be excellent. As for me, I miss all my friends and all the cool teachers. I will miss people accidentally setting themselves on fire in Ag Mechanics class. I will miss the morning TV show with Bryce’s Safari Adventure. I will miss the Friday night football games, and all the other sports. Even a part of me will miss the bomb threats. Earlier I called this a high school, but it is more like an airport terminal with hundreds of planes. As we each go to board a plane we wonder, “Where will it take us”, but one thing is for sure once we depart each of us will soar high, fast, and far towards the horizon. Tribute To My Teachers (Speech) Throughout the years of adolescence, when we are at our most vulnerable state, when we are still struggling to reconcile ourselves to the adult world, there are a few who stand by us and help us through...

...good evening. It was not long ago when our journey began as college students, where we came to dream of a bright future ahead of us. We took entrance and scholarship exams; college interviews. We thought of what would be the best course to take, where to enroll, who are the people we will meet, what would be the future ahead of us. We all did aspire for the best education in the best way we can have to make our dreams come true. We entered college life in many different ways. Some are confident and cool, some are afraid and cautious, some are quiet and calm, some are brainy and strange, and some are eager and enthusiastic to face what may lie ahead. We all began to learn that a new chapter in our lives is ready to take place, and it is the biggest challenge we are yet to face, for we know it is the deciding factor of what our future may become. We all officially started our college life by being asked by one question: Tell me about yourself. In every start of school year in our elementary and high school life, we are all asked by the same question. As time passes by, we restate our answer as we know of ourselves further. Then, discussions, assignments, reports, activities, projects, and lunch breaks began to take place. We have now begun a life of greater independence and self-awareness. We did become involved to the many lives surrounding us, in and out of the campus. We did enrich ourselves with further planning and goal-setting every day. We study, we learn. We talk...

...psychology who has been studying the functions of mind such as development, organization and creation. He suggests that in order to flourish and outshine in a globalized world, every person has to be concerned with how to establish those minds in the younger generation, those who could be taught to become the leaders or managers of tomorrow. Gardener also mentions five different minds that he believes human beings should develop in the future. The disciplined mind reminds us working stably over time to enhance skills and comprehension, the synthesizing mind collates information and presents it in a coherent way, the creating mind leads us to pull out new ideas and unexpected answers, the respectful mind greets the differences between individuals and finds to cooperate with each other effectively, and the ethical mind struggles to conceptualize proper work that people can do it unselfishly. In other words, these minds which are applied today will absolutely become a valuable property in the near future. Moreover, Gardener indicates that our present education system is not sufficiently equipped for growing the five named mind structures because they offer us for the past as it doesn’t activate scientific ways of pragmatic thinking. Gardener implies that the five minds are an innovation in the world nowadays, but...

...Dunayer English Comp II 10/22/15 Importance of Higher Education Education assumes an indispensable part in molding tomorrows' pioneers. Not just would we be able to improve as a country by securing the abilities important to be profitable individuals from a cultivated society. Build learning to effectively accomplish and meet difficulties that can create changes in which are profitable for achieving business advancements, political and monetary targets. Our reality is continually changing, and it requires a general public that is knowledgeable in comprehension the issues getting from society contrasts and resilience of each other's convictions and discernments. We are managing systemic issues in training, monetary, government, religion and society contrasts. To cite an expression from Ali Nazemi, "If you start tolerating this stuff, it becomes the norm. The more you give, the more they take. These devices become an indisposable sort of thing for the students. And nothing should be indisposable. Multitasking is good, but I want them to do more tasking in my class." This quote was following a demonstration he performed in his class. What he did was pretend to smash a student’s phone because he was texting during a lecture, but the phone was an extra he had and snuck in place of the student’s. He wanted his students and their parents to get the most out of their money that is being put towards their education. If we are to change the world essentially because we have and...

...participating in activities with each other every day. Attending such a diverse school gave me an opportunity to learn about different individuals and where they came from. Learning to love rather than hate because of appearance or culture is a lesson that was drilled into the minds of the children that walked the halls of the school and produce more accepting people. Exposing young adults or children to the diversity is crucial for the progress of this vast nation. The face of America is changing into a culturally diverse nation, which comes with issues of prejudice and discrimination that the people can overcome by learning and understanding the new cultures around them. The face of this country is changing and has been for some time. Education has been a link between understanding and accepting each other for who a person is, without the pretense of race, ethnicity, and religion. Most prejudice and discrimination is born from misunderstanding one another. Different religions or even food may seem odd and strange but they do not make a person good or bad. The beliefs of others give others a chance to examine their own life and determine who they are and what they want to believe in. Learning about each other promotes a life without the stereotypes and prejudice that so many individuals have to face every day. The struggles that some of our citizens have had to endure is outstanding. Having the knowledge about what those individuals have faced and what they are still facing has...

...Name____________ Time Management Stage one: Knowledge Time management - the analysis of how working hours are spent and the prioritization of tasks in order to maximize personal efficiency in the workplace Procrastination The discipline of time management is an important skill that needs to be learned early on. One of the biggest obstacles to overcome is procrastination. Procrastination is the problem of putting things off. We all seem to procrastinate on certain levels by making up excuses not to do something. The bad thing is that procrastination can be displayed in an every day lifestyle, which can effect us in achieving our goals. Procrastination can be the reason behind our failures Proverbs 10: 4 - 5 “Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth. He who gathers crops in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son.” This verse contrasts being lazy with hard work. We need to live our lives for God by not being lazy but by working hard to serve Him. An unproductive lifestyle comes from procrastination Procrastination can lead to a bad lifestyle. It can result in getting bad grades, not showing your best work, and being unproductive. It is important to avoid making excuses and as you head towards your goal, you should pray that God gives you the persistence to achieve it without getting lazy. Underlying problems can be revealed by procrastination If we continue putting things off it can mean we...

...and make recommendations on process improvements. There are many different kinds of accountants...some of the careers overlap and some don't. Your level of education/experience will determine how much money you make. FINANCIAL/MANAGERIAL ACCOUNTING Staff accountants are employed in a wide variety of industries and perform a wide variety of tasks. Every business is different and every company needs at least one accountant to keep the books in order. Specializations could include inventory, cash, receivables/payables, payroll, purchasing, credit approval/collections, and the list goes on. Financial accounting focuses on "financial statements" which are required by the SEC, and Managerial accounting focuses on measuring costs. TAX/GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTING More than just processing tax returns for individuals, tax accountants have extensive knowledge about other entities: corporations, partnerships, non-profits, and so on. Many CPAs are assumed to be tax accountants because many small CPA firms do just that for their clientelle, but a CPA can basically have their pick of any accounting career they want. Additionally, the government needs accountants too...and the list of agencies abound. AUDITING For every kind of accountant, it seems like there's an equivalent auditor -- however, auditors have loads more education than lower-level accountants. IRS agents audit taxes,...

Kids nowadays have a lot of electronic devices such as; iPod, ipads, mp3 players, smart phones, etc. as well as having technology in school like computer labs and online classes. In her article the author, Annie Murphy Paul, and development psychologist from UCLA Patricia Greenfield, explore the impact of technology in schools and Greenfield claims that “There is the formal education that young people receive in school, she maintains, and the “informal education” they receive through their devices.” The formal education is of course the classroom lecture in the school's curriculum that we are all going through in college but the informal is all of the information we gather from out time on the internet. When we are just surfing the web and there is so much information that we might start with important research but we end up goggling if penguins have knees just because we can. Technology is helping shape the people of tomorrow and it should...

Chapter 10 of Mastering-Self Leadership: Empowering yourself for personal Excellence by Neck and Manz, explains the connection that self-leadership and fitness have with each other. It’s no surprise that exercise and diet is the key to fitness but you have to have self-control and self-empowerment to actually get up and workout. My fitness level is not at its best but I do try to work out at least three times a week, am I always successful with working out that often, No; but it is the routine that I am trying to make a habit. I have also realized that I do not have a good workout plan, I go into the gym completely lost because I don’t know what I should work on. ...NO! CHILD LEFT BEHIND. Barack Obama took a strongly progressive stance for public education and for teachers, and against publicly-funded vouchers to pay for private school education, in this July 5, 2007 speech. Obama's remarks included a number of controversial proposals, including immediate, across-the-board pay raises for teachers, and redesign of standardized tests to support learning, not punishment of teachers. While Obama proposed to fix the many substantial problems of the No Child Left behind Act, he also slammed its shortcomings, and remarked, don't tell us that the only way to teach a child is to spend too much of the year preparing him to fill in a few bubbles on a standardized test. Over the last few years, I've been traveling to different schools and meeting with all kinds of educators to hear about what's working, what's not, what makes the difference when it comes to educating children today. I've gained a lot of valuable insight from these visits, but one I'll always remember is my trip to Dodge Elementary School in my hometown of Chicago. I was talking to one of the young teachers there about the challenges they faced, and she mentioned what she called the "These Kids Syndrome". The willingness of society to find a million excuses for why "these kids" can't learn. It's the idea that "these kids come from tough backgrounds" or that "these kids are too far behind." And after a while, "these kids" become somebody else's problem. Then she said to me, "When I...

I believe that Critical Thinking is important because the world continues to change and our existence depends on the decisions we make. The decisions you make today, decides who you are tomorrow. A bad decision can cost you a fortune, while making a rational decision can help build a bright future for you. Critical thinking helps us to make sound decisions. We are more advance now than our parents were and our...

...creativity. He pointed out that it was his belief that everyone has an interest in education, and it runs deep within us as a society, because it drives the way our culture performs. His speech points out that education is the catalyst that is preparing us for the future, and that right now no one knows what the future will hold for us. In 20 years or even five, we are unable to predict with any certainty what the world will require of its population, because we don’t know what the future holds and how do we educate for it? No matter where you travel in the world today the education systems are set up in the same general order of importance.Math, Science, Language, and Humanities always are at the top of the education list, with creative activities such as Arts, Dancing, and Theater at the bottom. In his speech, he spoke of the education system of today being antiquated to the developments over the last 50 years. The current system which has been developed in the 19th century to accommodate the educational needs of industrial growth, has since lost its edge. In today’s world, with its growing population and advanced development,a creative and innovative ideas to continue forging ahead for the future will be required instead. In order to come up with such creative ideas that pave the way for the world of tomorrow, we will need to develop the creativity of our children. With the current education system, this will be an issue unless the system is allowed to change and develops...

There are many types of technology used in the policing community. There are some that enhance the job and those that detract from the functionality of the officers as they try to serve and protect the community. With this ever changing world, there are so many stressors and dangers that police officers have to confront on a daily basis and without the right technology, these officers are left to their own devices. Officers who have symptoms of distress, reduced effectiveness, increased motivation, and dysfunctional attitudes and behaviors at work are said to be in the state of burnout. There are organizations that police can turn to for help with these different kinds of stress but they have to admit that they are having issues. (Roberson) Officers who get burnout are in danger because they lose focus and do not care as much for the job that they do, add to that the likelihood that there is also depression on top of that and you have a recipe for disaster. When an officer gets ready for his day, he must be mentally, physically, and technologically ready for anything that may come his/her way. Mentally, an officer has many stressors: physical, psychological, internal, external, and operational. Physical stressors have to do with their health issues such as heart attack or ulcers.
