...1. What is the management decision faced by USMC? Given the fact that carbonated soft-drink market isn’t as prosperous as it used to be, due to the change of consumer habits, USMC has seen a market opportunity in launching a new product “flavoured water”. They want to offer flavour with an added health benefit. They want to start with a Market Research Study, and therefore, the management needs to choose a proper research supplier which will, in a best way, evaluate the potential success of launching a new product. 2. What problems did Elena and Enrique have to solve when working with the research supplier? List the specific problems and why they had to solve these problems in the table below. Identified problem | Why it was a problem? | Research supplier submitted inadequate questionnaire. | Questionnaire was bad-structured, and some of the questions influenced the answers. | Possible answers. | Where answers needed to be based on the liker scale questions, they were based on closed questions. So that the answers obtained were not adequate for analysis. | Question about the ingredients. | In a bad-structured questionnaire, given answers were omitted, so that the specific answer was hardly obtained. If you want specific answers, ask specific questions. | Classification data. | The first questionnaire had badly structured classification data, with questions where the interviewee where might not want to give an answer. | 3. Do you think that this...

...Master Sgt. Cindy Grubb 3280 Russell Rd. Quantico VA 22134 MSG. (RET) Grubb, It has been a few months since I have had to write to a Marine Family. I do believe that USMC is mostly not engaged in Afghanistan anymore, I hope. Last week my family went to the USMC Intel. School in Dam Neck VA. for the graduation of the latest class. That is also where they have named the classroom after Brent and they have the Capt. Brent Morel award. That award is given to a graduate to honor Brent. The thing about this award is that it is voted on by the class members to honor one of their own. We left Martin TN. at about 1400 on Wednesday, spent the night somewhere in VA. Left the next morning and arrived around noon. We had dinner that night with the class instructors and the intel students. We did the graduation the next morning, had lunch and departed again around 1400; about 1700 total miles in a few days. None the less it was well worth it to see that Brent is remembered by the Corps. Two LTs. who were mustangs said that they first heard about Brent during boot camp. One was east coast, the other was west coast. They both heard about him during TBS and officers school and then again during the intelligence school. It was an honor for us to see these bright young men. My daughter and Brent’s wife came with us. They along with several of the guys traded shots at the bar that night. The girls I will add kept up with them until Molly and I told the girls it was time to go. I don’t...

...THE UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS(USMC) POSITION ON THE REQUIREMENT OF RESIDENT PROFESSIONAL MILITARY EDUCATION(PME) FOR PROMOTION Ref: (a) Marine Administrative Message(MARADMIN) 426/14 (b) MARADMIN 521/14 (c) USMC Concepts and Programs Almanac (d) NAVADMIN 170/07 (e) AFI 36-2502 1. PROBLEM: Due to a recent MARADMIN, Marines in the rank of Sergeant(Sgt), Staff Sergeant(SSgt), and Gunnery Sergeant(GySgt) are required to attend resident PME in order to be promoted to the next rank. This should not be required training for Marines to be eligible for promotion. 2. WHY REQUIRED: Due to the operational commitments of Commanders and Marines in the Fleet Marine Force(FMF) along with the number of courses and allocations provided for resident PME, it is not feasible for every Marine in these ranks to complete this training before becoming eligible for promotion. Commands are going to have a difficult time allowing all Marines in the unit to leave in order to attend this training and still maintain mission accomplishment. 3. BACKGROUND: a. Prior to MARADMIN 521/14 Marines in the rank of Sgt, SSgt, and GySgt were not required to attend the resident PME course. With the implementation of MARADMIN 521/14 all Marines in the rank of Sgt, SSgt, and GySgt are now required to attend the resident PME course in order to be eligible for promotion. b. The USMC published MARADMIN 426/14 stating...

...IMPLEMENTING A TELEWORK POICY WITHIN THE MARINE CORPS TO REDUCE COST AND IMPROVE WORKFORCE SATISFACTION Prepared for Jerry Lewis, Deputy Director of Programs and Resources, United States Marine Corps Prepared by December 12, 2011 MEMORANDUM TO: Jerry Lewis, Deputy Director of Programs and Resources FROM: Name, Programs and Resources Analyst DATE: December 12, 2011 SUBJECT: Implementing an Organizational Telework Policy Here is the research report that has been completed in response to the Government Efficiencies Working Groups’ recommendations. While the Marine Corps does not currently have a successful telework policy implemented at this time, but we currently have a partial capability from a technology standpoint. This puts us in situation that is ripe with opportunities to change the organization’s work environment in ways that will benefit all parties involved. With many new changes in the information technology solutions available in the market place it is now possible to do work anywhere and at any time. The implementation of a strategy to take advantage of this change in the work environment can lead to quantifiable savings in real estate costs and improve the employee work life balance. Improved energy savings and a decrease in building costs are organizational benefits from the implementation of a teleworking policy within the organization. Current Information Technology Systems should be reviewed to determine if they could be redesigned...

...| Head Quarters United States Marine Corps | Date: 11/27/12 Re: Art Selections for the Office As requested I have selected six new paintings, three Impressionist and three Post-Impressionist works. The works are to be placed along the large wall in the main lobby of the building in the order listed below. The order starts with two works depicting everyday life while in theatre, followed by two emotionally charged works that have become iconic for our beloved Marine Corps, completed by two works of everyday day life in theatre. The idea is for the viewer to scan the works left to right; starting with an introduction to our mission: combat readiness; moving to two historical benchmarks, one from our past and one from the present; completed by two works depicting Marines in the mission. TITLE | Touchdown | ARTIST | Howard A. Terpning | DESCRIPTION | Marines exiting a helicopter in Vietnam. The Marines are in dark hues of earth greens, with dark shading and shadowing. The Marines are being dropped in a background of a golden field that undetectably fades into the golden/orange background. | STYLE | Post-Impressionism: Focusing more on the subject matter of the Marines, then the landscape. Captured as hastily as the Marines exit with rapid strokes, dark pigments, laid in rugged, thick paint. Solid patches of color make the background while the subject matter is more clearly defined. (Sayre, pp. 1092-1093) | HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE | This work is important because...

...Informational Privacy in the United States Marine Corps (USMC) Sgt Karen A Holliday, USMC Trident University International In my honest opinion the thought of informational privacy within the military is a sort of oxymoron. Although huge strides have been taken to put in place more secure methods of information storage, the military lags far behind their civilian counterparts in this department. There are many policies under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) in regards to the informational privacy protection of service members. The problem is not in the policy, it is in the enforcement and adherence to these policies. When asked to write on this issue, there is one instance of complete disregard to informational privacy that stood out in my mind. About a year ago, I was attending annual training in the Marine Corps. We were all in a theatre and the Staff Sergeant in charge passed around a roster for us to sign in order to receive credit for the class we were about to receive. I looked at the roster and was horrified. It was a roster of the entire battalion, 1000 or so Marines, with their names and COMPLETE social security numbers (SSN’s) on it. I brought it to the attention to the Staff Sergeant (SSgt) and he said he would change it for the following days training. The FOLLOWING DAY! I, being a Cpl at the time, and the lower ranking said, “SSgt this isn’t something that can wait a day”. I was ignored and the days training went on as scheduled. ...

...language. I believe slang is a good form of language because I can communicate well with my friends without being judged by the way I speak. Nick names are descriptive names added to or replaced by the actual names of a people, places, or things. I got my nick name Nene from my uncle. Nene is a common nick name for people with the name nisha in their first name. Everybody I know have a nick name and not everyone nickname is related to them. Nicknames are also good to use because people do not know your real name and you can get away with things. Abbreviations are a short form of a words or phrases used chiefly in writing to represent the complete form of words. For example, Massachusetts abbreviation is Mass. or United States Marines Corps is USMC. I always abbreviate long word and long names. There are many words that I abbreviate. Memphis Tennessee is the state and city where I live and its abbreviation is Memphis, TN. I always use Memphis, TN on my mail. The word abbreviation itself can be abbreviated as abbr, abbrev. Acronym is a word formed from the initial letters of a name, such as WAC for Women's Army Corps, or by combining initial letters or parts of a series of words, such as radar for radio detecting and ranging. Acronyms are used in everyday writing and spaeaking. My name is Tenisha Boyd and some people call me TB. TB is my initial letters of my first and last...

...The Battle of Guadalcanal, 1942 “General Vandegrift noted that the Japanese soldier "was trained to go to a place, stay there, fight and die. We train our men to go to a place, fight to win, and to live. I can assure you, it is a better theory." (Henry I. Shaw, 1992) World War II was possibly the largest and bloodiest war (John Miller, 2003) that America has been a part of. The war was engaged on land, on sea, and in the air, and lasted close to six years (Henry I. Shaw, 1992). The Battle of Guadalcanal was a decisive victory during WWII, and a turning point for the Americans and the Allies in the Pacific theater (staff, 2009) in 1942. America was forced into action when on December 7, 1941, the Imperial Japanese forces attacked the Asian waters into the Pacific with coinciding attacks on Pearl Harbor, the Philippines, Wake, Guam, Hong Kong, and the Malay Peninsula (John Miller, 2003). The US maintained the "German first" course they had set against the Axis, but were immediately forced to stop the Japanese momentum; the Guadalcanal was a key piece of territory because it was part of the Solomon Islands, located north-eastern of Australia. Failure to stop the Japanese would threaten the lines of communication to Australia and New Zealand (John Miller, 2003). On August 8th, the Marines landed at Guadalcanal; with no resistance from the Japanese; the Marines wasted no time; they joined their positions and seized the airfield the Japanese started (Trueman, 2000), and forged a...

... This change would be advantageous to the Marine Corps by retaining exceptionally qualified professionals that have attained their degree while on active duty. There has to be something said as to the dedication of a Marine who balances school with work while continuing to perform at a high level. Opportunities are always available no matter the religion, race, and sexual orientation. Whether it is removal of female restriction from combat MOS’s, the policy reversal on homosexuals, and transgenderism. The Marine Corps remains a living, breathing entity that must evolve. The Marine Corps has and will continue to lose quality leaders to other services if this subjective policy is not amended. Prepared by: Lonnie Smith Jr., SSgt, USMC HMH-366, 443-801-6302 ...
