My first literacy unit was Valuing Language in EDC131. One of my favourite topics in this unit was about language and its components. I learnt the difference between oral and written language in EDC131. For example, oral language has different dialects that represents a region, whereas written language is more restricted and generally follows a standard form of grammar, structure, organisation and vocabulary. Oral language can use facial expression a,d body language, whereas written language should be descriptive. For example in oral language, a person can point out a pen and ask, “can I use this?”. On the other hand in written language he has to mention the item he points out to, such as “can I use this pen?”.
