...I was walking with my dog Snoopy in the woods and he slipped so I chased after him, when I finally caught up to him he was playing with what I thought was a dog bone but as I examined it closer I found out it was a human hand bone. I remember hearing in “Dead Men Talking” Bill Bass once say that when you start off you want to look at the crime scene and see what it tells you. So I looked around and on the floor i could see that there was burnt leaves surrounding the bones so I knew immediately that this person was burned, but there was a hole in the hand bone and on the long collar bone, so I also knew that my decedent was also shot multiple times. As me and Snoopy found more bones I remember that in the article...

...the double bass is a member of the string orchestra. Towering at 75 inches, a full-size double bass is capable of producing a dark, heavy and weighted tone. Its sound capability along with its sheer size beg the question—how did the bass get to its current status? Through what trial and error did it develop its tone and shape? By examining the correct nomenclature, the role of the bass in early baroque orchestras, two inventions that radicalized bass playing, attempts at varying the number of strings, and its role in jazz, it is clear that the bass has filled a critical role in the string orchestra. Classifying the double bass as a part of the violin or viola families has been tricky....

...As we walked down Darlinghurst Road looking for our first club to make our way into, one club with the name The White Room caught Josh’s eye and he convinced us to follow him in. We walk into the colour filled room with white lasers and strobe lights flashing to the deep techno beat the DJ had just dropped, with bass so low it almost made you feel as if your chest was going to concave. Being able to smoke in the club made it almost possible to see the emphysema floating around the room as you breathed in some random blokes second hand smoke. A few more drinks later and we head into the bathroom for our first nostril full of cocaine, we were now ready to party. Not long into the trip we had convinced the taxi driver to make a stop off at a drive-through bottle shop to get our night underway with a couple of gold tinnies. Then a quick changeover with the seedy cocaine dealer sitting out the front of the bottle shop in his white paedophile-like van who gave us the vibe that he was most likely on a little bit more than ‘just cocaine? Before long we see the bright flashing lights of ‘The Cross’ up ahead, quickly tipping what beer we had left down our throats, we tried to comprehend what the taxi driver is trying to tell us we owed him for the ride. The Australian Motocross Championship has just come to an end. After a long season of racing Josh Cachia, Lawson Bopping, Luke Arbon, the two Smith brothers, Jacob & Todd and I have all decided we are in need to celebrate. After a few...

...I was walking my dog Riley around the neighborhood on a cold day. My dog was sniffing some leafs and all of sudden he started to dig. And pulled it out and I saw that my dog pulled out a trash bag. I checked inside and all I saw were bones that looked like a humans. I called the police as soon as I could and tried to figure it who this guy was after I brought my dog in the house. I thought of calling Billy bass but I should first figure out how old the bones are. I remembered what we read in class one time, it was called “Identifying the victim” you can look at the amount of teeth and that will help with age and the joints are smoother and break down as they get older. So I thought the person was around the 50-60 age mark. I decided to call Billy bass after I examined the bones because he know’s a thing or two about these types of cases and he may know if my...

...butterflies in my stomach awoke and began fluttering about, and I felt the urge to turn and run off. In a dreamlike trance, I picked up my bass guitar and strapped it around my neck. A spotlight cut through the darkness and focused upon the stage, blinding me momentarily. I heard the drummer begin a four count. Suddenly the club came alive, and resounding music filled the Whisky-A-Go-Go, where twenty-five years earlier, The Doors had begun their musical career. An exhilarating sense of humility and wonder came over me as I thought, "How did I get here?" My career as a bass guitarist in a rock and roll band has had the greatest impact on my life. Playing in a band was important to me because it represented a challenge: transcending the familiar confines of my life and entering completely unknown territory. I wanted to meet people from different backgrounds and go to places that I might never have gone otherwise. The dark, mysterious atmosphere of a Hollywood night club was a far cry from the neat and tidy math and engineering classrooms I had been accustomed to. A year and a half before our appearance at the Whisky-A-Go-Go, bass guitar was about as familiar to me as Swahili. When I started playing, it was hard for me to believe that I would ever play for anyone outside of a garage, much less at a world-famous Hollywood club. I began playing bass at the age of twenty, with only a rudimentary knowledge of music theory. My only experience playing any kind of musical instrument was...

...Glossary of musical terminology From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search This is a list of musical terms that are likely to be encountered in printed scores, music reviews, and program notes. Most of the terms are Italian (see also Italian musical terms used in English), in accordance with the Italian origins of many European musical conventions. Sometimes, the special musical meanings of these phrases differ from the original or current Italian meanings. Most of the other terms are taken from French and German, indicated by "(Fr)" and "(Ger)", respectively. Others are from languages such as Portuguese, Latin, and Spanish. Unless specified, the terms are Italian or English. The list can never be complete: some terms are common, and others are used only occasionally, and new ones are coined from time to time. ...The Most Useful Knowledge You Will Ever Need So you want to learn more about playing bass? I’m about to tell you everything you need to know on 1 sheet of paper. “I didn’t follow the standard rules of bass playing, and many musicians on many different instruments who became noteworthy for their unique or particular style did a very similar thing.” -Billy Sheehan One of my biggest sayings is that “There are no rules.” In music there are only theories. Hence the term “music theory.” The way you play an instrument is the way you interpret that instrument. Yes there are better ways, and better techniques than others. What I hope to do with just a few minutes of your life is to help you find them. So who am I? I discovered the bass in 2006. I played for youth groups, local bands, anywhere that would let me. Crowds of 5 to 5,000. The outdoor playground to the arena, and have also played and worked with Grammy & Dove award-winning artists. Oh! I also love building relationships & creating art. Most commonly this is all referred to as C, C#, D, Eb, E, F, F#, G, G#, A, Bb, B, and then you start back over at C. To explain it more- C# could also be called Db just as F# could be called Gb. However, F could never be called Fb because there is no Fb or E#. In the case of E to F and B to C, there is only 1 half step; there are no sharps/flats there. ...

The melody is mainly played by electric bass guitar and drum set and sung by vocalist, Kay Tse. Drum set is used in order to keep the beat and rhythm and present this song vividly. By doing so, listener can feel the fast paced living style in Hong Kong. The form of this song is simple, AA’BA’B’B’’B’’’, which B part, as the chorus, is repeated for 4 times throughout the song. ...With the increasingly rapid economic globalization and urbanization, more problems are brought to our attention. One of them is traffic jams. The reasons can be listed as follows .For one thing,it’s cheaper to buy a car than a few years ago.In previous years,a car was a luxury that Chinese families cannot afford, but cars are now becoming more accessible to the common people because of the reduction of the price. Therefore we can see so many cars driving on the road. For another reason, with the people’s needs for transport facilities increasing substantially , the road network is far from rational.Stimulated by high demand , the number of private cars has increased at an average annual rate of over 30 percent . Therefore , restricted road can’t meet the requirement of the increasing cars. Although traffic jams has brought inconvenience to us,it seems that people are not prepared to give up their cars and use other forms of transport. Here are a variety of reasons for it.First, owning a car is a metaphor of one’s status.Generally, a man who have a car may be richer than a man who goes by bus.Second, car is more express compared with bus or bicycle. In a survey conducted by a well-known magazine,it takes us one hour to go to your destination by bus. While you may save half an hour if you have a car. Then, how should we solve this problem? Here are some suggestions, which may be of some help. One way is to call upon common people to use bicycle in place of car, which can not only reduce...

...Farah Khan COM 101-580 Descriptive Essay The Beautiful Object Has it ever occurred to you that a car can resemble beauty like a person in many ways? Well I have, the day I first saw my friend’s car. I was leaving school early one day and as I walked closer to the path leading to the street a huge gleam shot across my face. When I turned and looked, there it was, one of the most beautiful objects I’d ever seen parked across the street. It was my friend in his new white Monte Carlo. The paint job on the car reminded me of that cup of milk before I dunk my cookies in it. The car sat high, and on it were the beautiful 22 inch chrome rims. Upon entering the car I noticed that it was elegant and detailed. The car was white like a full moon at night, just as smooth and glossy. The windows were tinted black like the hair of a goddess. The way the car looked at me with a grin, and the front looked mean just like how my little brother looks when I do something he doesn’t like. The curves on the car reminded me of the muscles of a body builder except this muscle had four wheels. Monte Carlo is a well known car maker and all their cars are breath taking but what made this car so different was the accessories that my friend had put on it. The rims were the right size and the chrome color complemented the car just the right way. When I entered the car, the smell of a new car took over me. It was the smell of the leather inside the car mixed with the jasmine scented air freshener...

Even advanced learners of English find prepositions difficult, as a 1:1 translation is usually not possible. One preposition in your native language might have several translations depending on the situation. There are hardly any rules as to when to use which preposition. The only way to learn prepositions is looking them up in a dictionary, reading a lot in English (literature) and learning useful phrases off by heart (study tips). The following table contains rules for some of the most frequently used prepositions in English: Prepositions - Time English Usage Example on days of the week on Monday in months / seasons time of day year after a certain period of time (when?) in August / in winter in the morning in 2006 in an hour at for night for weekend a certain point of time (when?) at night at the weekend at half past nine since from a certain point of time (past till now) since 1980 ...

...I think it is imperative to become innovative and creative with new ways to attract donors for organization fundraising. Using the Halloween season is the best reason to give after Christmas (Waters, 2012). In the media, zombie popularity has surged. With The Walking Dead being the most top rated show in the country, there seems to be zombies everywhere. The zombie fad is displayed in books, movies, games, music, and even in the streets-zombie walks. Lately, nonprofit organizations have started using this popular trend to host their fundraising events appealing to different crowds. Especially during autumn and Halloween season, a zombie event is appropriate. A great example of how an organization has tied the zombie theme into their organization is the slogan, “Feed the Hungry”. America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia located in Savannah is a volunteer-driven nonprofit food bank. They serve twenty one counties in Georgia with the mission of feeding hungry people and supporting communities. On November 10, their organization will hold their 5th Zombie Walk on River Street. Donors will dress up themselves, their children, and pets for FREE with a donation of canned goods. There is free makeup, entertainment, games, and vendors ("Savannah zombie walk ," 2011). This is great idea to me because it is a wonderful family/friend idea to do together and gives back a fun opportunity to donors. Another appropriate time for a blood drive is Halloween. No explanation for blood or...
