First I want to say I am so sorry for this extremely late post. I was having some problems with my internet connection at home and my phone was stolen. I have learned that each and every one of my class mates are amazing people. We all sure one thing in common which is “Wanting to be successful.” The way we learn and look at things are supposed to be different I mean we are different people so yes we may agree with one another but not 100% and that is find also. Disagreeing and agreeing is a part of life it is what makes it worth living and as you live and learn you gain understanding of what is right and what is wrong. What you do expected to learn in literature?
Honestly, no I have not changed my point of view of Clugston quote. I agree with Clugston’s quote because we as humans are very curious when it comes to things happening around us. We want to know the how, why, and when, in everything and also everyone that we may or may not come in contact with. In my honest opinion yes the value of literature has changed and for the best it is a book about everything and anything you want to learn about which allows us to teach ourselves some things without the help of ours. I still believe that literature and be boring if what you are reading is boring but once you get into that literature and gaining understanding it can be a real enjoyment.

...ENG 125 Week 5 DQ 1 To Buy This material Click below link http://www.uoptutors.com/ENG-125-ASH/ENG-125-Week-5-DQ-1 Throughout this course we have explored the similarities and differences between the literary forms of the short story, the poem, and drama. For example, one major difference is that both poetry and drama frequently place a strong emphasis on performance before an audience that is physically present, while the short story is more commonly intended for individual reading.  With that said, it is important to remember that all literary works couldn’t always be easily classified into a single genre. Moreover, literary works, which might be classified as belonging to one genre, might possess many qualities more typical of other genres. For example, Shakespeare’s Macbeth is classified as drama, but in many respects takes the form of poetry. In other words, sometimes the differences between categories like drama, poetry, and the short story are not so easily defined. Often a short story might contain poetic or dramatic qualities, or a poem might include narrative and dramatic features. In your post, summarize the major similarities and differences between the forms of drama, poetry, and the short story. Demonstrate your ideas with textual examples from the course readings. In your response, include at least one example of each literary form. If you wish, you may also point to examples that indicate the blurring of literary genres (e.g., the poetic qualities of Macbeth...

...Aspect of Human Experience: Love Team B: ENG/125 Aspect of Human Experience: Love Introduction The human experience chosen by this team is the experience of love. There are many forms of love and many different ways literary authors bring readers to experience love through their works of art. To demonstrate this experience of love throughout the different types of literary forms, the team chose to compare Chekhov’s Misery, Marlowe’s The Passionate Shepherd to His Love, Langston’s Salvation, and Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Through this comparison, the team will demonstrate how authors bring readers to understand and experience love through their use of literary devices and style of writing. Misery Chekhov’s use of literary devices Anton Chekhov’s short story, Misery, had literary devices to show the love Iona, the protagonist, had for his deceased son. Chekhov displays imagery of the unconditional love a parent has for their children. Throughout the story, Iona was searching for someone he can confide to about his loss. Iona, a sledge-driver in Russia, encountered five people during his route but was unsuccessful in venting his sorrows. He loved his son so much he was willing to talk to strangers about it. Foreshadowing was a device used in Misery as well. The story began and ended with Iona and his mare. In the beginning of the story, Iona and his mare sat in the snow while waiting for customers. Iona searched for strangers to talk to but in the end, it was his mare...

Close Reading of a Poem

...Daniels Essay Week 2 Joya Daniels ENG 125 Angela Mullennix 11 August 2014 Daniels Essay 2 As I analyze my interpretation of this week’s poem selection. I am bringing forth my thoughts, feelings and understandings of what I have read. This week’s poem that I have chosen is a “Woman’s Work”, by Julia Alvarez. As I begin to pick out the poem that I desired. I had to ask questions in analyzing what I was going to read. Questions to help me understand what the author is trying to say. On pages 766-767, Alvarez gives her description of a working woman in a poetic form. From my understanding, in line 1, Alvarez is stating that a woman work is not a high art (Alvarez, Pg. 766). However, in detail she explains the different types of challenges the character known as “the woman”, who struggles as she does her basic routine of cleaning. As I ponder on this week’s readings, I find myself thinking on how my Ancestors had to work in the cotton field and their master’s home. Also, tending to their needs. They really went through a lot and some even died so that there next generation could not experience the hardship. What I am stating, is that there comes a time in someone’s home that an individual has to sacrifice their lives so that their children can have better ones. People may not like the situation that there in but they are seeing the big picture and that is the future that lies ahead. In line 3, Alvarez states that the woman is keeping her house...

The abstract is typically a short summary of the contents of the document.] | LITERARY TERMS AND CONCEPTS TO DEFINE  Allusion- An allusion is reference from one literary work to another. Most people use allusions in every day conversations, although they may not be aware of it. For example, Shakespeare’s famous line, “To be or not to be” has been used and reused in many different contexts. An example of an allusion from Week one’s reading assignments comes from The Hack Driver by Sinclair Lewis. During the story, the author makes reference the express man. He comments on how this man will probably get to Heaven’s gate and call St Peter “Pete” (LA Rocco & Coughlin, 1996, p. 59). Connotation- Connotation is the meaning or implication that the author gives, and the reader receives while reading a literary work. Connotations are not difficult to spot, because they are usually presented in the form of an opinion or assumption. For example, To Be of Use, by Marge Piercy, refers to workers becoming natives to the elements of their work environment (LA Rocco & Coughlin, 1996, p. 248). The entire poem places much emphasis on the positive aspects of good workers...

Group work can also help with expanding the student’s emotional intelligence (Landau & Meirovich, 2011). Emotional intelligence is a quality that employers are now looking for more and more in their employees, even to the point where learning about emotional intelligence is part of management training and development. ADVANTAGES It is believed that the greatest focus of groups, especially those that have been brought together for higher learning, should be in understanding and developing a social learning process. This can be achieved through group interaction which facilitates stronger collaboration. (Fearon, McLaughlin & Eng 2012) It has only been recently that University students have been taking greater control over their learning (Fearon, et. al. 2012). One of the...

This has made it quite imperative for contracting parties to analyse project delays for purposes of making right decisions on potential time and/or cost compensation claims. Over the years, existing delay analysis techniques (DATs) for aiding this decision-making have been helpful but have not succeeded in curbing the high incidence of disputes associated with delay claims resolutions. A major source of the disputes lies with the limitations and capabilities of the techniques in their practical use. Developing a good knowledge of these aspects of the techniques is of paramount importance in understanding the real problematic issues involved and their improvement needs. This paper seeks to develop such knowledge and understanding (as part of a wider research work) via: an evaluation of the most common DATs based on a case study...
