What Does Babysitting Mean To Me Essay

As the life of a teenager money seems to be something we all need. Speaking generally for myself, I always found quick ways to produce it. It only took one crazy experience to suddenly change the demeanor of myself. Babysitting absolutely taught me the responsibilities and commitments. I couldn’t obtain a job, but loved shopping. To shop I needed money. Occasionally I always did simple jobs around the house for some “quick cash”. Seems like every dollar I got hold to only last for two days before I would spend it. My parents one day had an intervention with me about my spending as I had gotten out of hand with it. This was my acknowledgement of them basically warning me not to spend anymore. Conversely, I managed to end up broke by the end of the week anyway. One school night, I was forced to ask my parent for lunch money. Consequently, this made them aware that I had spent all of mine. If I ever wanted any more money from my parents I would be doomed to babysit all my little siblings every two weeks. Seeking this as another opportunity made me quickly take it upon myself to do it. I assumed it would be easy the first time I begin babysitting. However, the little rascals were like a fury of fireballs! I needed the money, but the end of every night I could still hear the “screams” and “laughter’s” for …show more content…
In addition, I came up with the regretful idea to play hide and seek. Due to me falling asleep I forgot about the game. Waking up after what seemed like days, I remembered what happen and went psycho looking for them! As I looked outside my parents weren’t home yet, which is what I was excepting. Nevertheless, after crying and completely losing my mind, I called my parents to explain. The insane part was they weren’t missing my parents had eventually came home, saw what happened and wanted to teach me a lesson for sleeping on the job. It took the first to be the last time for me to

...HUYNH PHUC HOANG SAMPLE ESSAY IELTS Writing Sample Essay IELTS Writing Some people think that in order to prevent illness and disease, governments should make efforts in reducing environmental pollution and housing problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? The prevention of illness and disease is a challenging problem for any community. Although many people may be skeptical about the effectiveness of an investment in improving the environment and providing more housing for the public, I believe that it is a good solution to the issue, as will now be discussed. On the one hand, ameliorating environmental contamination can hinder the spread of disease and illness. Today, people’s health is deteriorating due to the adverse effects of poor air quality, making us more vulnerable to viruses and health problems. A number of urban citizens suffer from lung cancer and throat cancer due to the dangerous level of exhaust emissions from traffic and industrial activities in many big cities such as Beijing and Hanoi. Therefore, improving the environment should be treated as the top priority among other concerns of the government. For example, an outright ban on the use of private vehicles can decrease the amount of harmful fumes released into the atmosphere, contributing to the clean-up of the environment. On the other hand, the provision of more accommodation for the public is also a highly effective measure to reduce health risks....

I Want a Wife

...(Narrative Essay) JUDY BRADY I Want a Wife (1971) Judy Brady’s essay became an instant classic when it appeared in 1971 in the premier issue of the feminist magazine Ms. As you read, analyze the definitions of “husband” and “wife” that Brady uses, and consider why this essay became so powerful in the 1970s. I belong to that classification of people known as wives. I am A Wife. And, not altogether incidentally, I am a mother. Not too long ago a male friend of mine appeared on the scene fresh from a recent divorce. He had one child, who is, of course, with his ex-wife. He is looking for another wife. As I thought about him while I was ironing one evening, it suddenly occurred to me that I, too, would like to have a wife. Why do I want a wife? I would like to go back to school so that I can become economically independent, support myself, and, if need be, support those dependent upon me. I want a wife who will work and send me to school. And while I am going to school I want a wife to take care of my children. I want a wife to keep track of the children’s doctor and dentist appointments. And to keep track of mine, too. I want a wife to make sure my children eat properly and are kept clean. I want a wife who will wash the children’s clothes and keep them mended. I want a wife who is a good nurturant attendant to my children, who arranges for their schooling, makes sure that they have an adequate social life with their peers, takes them to the park, the zoo, etc. I want a...

Mister

...Also by Barack Obama Copyright Prologue IT’S BEEN ALMOST ten years since I first ran for political office. I was thirty-five at the time, four years out of law school, recently married, and generally impatient with life. A seat in the Illinois legislature had opened up, and several friends suggested that I run, thinking that my work as a civil rights lawyer, and contacts from my days as a community organizer, would make me a viable candidate. After discussing it with my wife, I entered the race and proceeded to do what every first-time candidate does: I talked to anyone who would listen. I went to block club meetings and church socials, beauty shops and barbershops. If two guys were standing on a corner, I would cross the street to hand them campaign literature. And everywhere I went, I’d get some version of the same two questions. “Where’d you get that funny name?” And then: “You seem like a nice enough guy. Why do you want to go into something dirty and nasty like politics?” I was familiar with the question, a variant on the questions asked of me years earlier, when I’d first arrived in Chicago to work in low-income neighborhoods. It signaled a cynicism not simply with politics but with the very notion of a public life, a cynicism that—at least in the South Side neighborhoods I sought to represent—had been nourished by a generation of broken promises. In response, I would usually smile and nod and say that I understood the skepticism, but that there was—and always had...
