...Leadership Styles Introduction: In my assignment I will be writing about all of the different styles of leadership, what is good about them and what is bad about them, I will be comparing them with each other and I will be evaluating how effective they are for a leader in the public services. P1: Authoritarian: It is a direct style where the leader tells the team members what they need to do. This is a task orientated style of leadership, it is a good style of leadership because it gets the job done quickly, this is good because it gets the job done quickly and effectively, it allows members of the group to focus on performing specific tasks without worrying about making complex decisions, this allows the team members to become good at a certain role and they can then specialize in that role all the way through their service. The downsides to this style of leadership is that people can abuse this leadership style and become dictatorial and this can lead to dis-agreements within the team and sometimes it can lead to team members resenting the leader and not following his/hers instructions, this is bad because it means that the team wont work efficiently together meaning that they wont get the job done as quickly or at all, another downside is that the leader wont be able to find a very creative or effective way of completing a task, this is bad because the task might require an obscure way of completing it but the leader may not be able to think of a way to complete it....

... | | | | | | Should I go to the movies rather then study for my exam tomorrow morning? Cost -Missing the newest most awesome movie that came out. -Gossip about things going on at school. -Not being able to fulfill the crave I had for an Icee. Benefit * Not going to fail my exam the next morning * Better understanding of the things that I missed during some of my classes. * Being able to finish ontime instead of trying to reflect on what I thought I learned in past classes. Questions: 1. To explain scarcity involving my dilemma is the fact that I wont be able to do both things without having something to sacrifice. The choice I made was so that I wouldn’t have to deal with getting a bad grade then being stressed out for a couple of weeks bringing it up. The opportunity cost I gave up was the company of my friends, the laughter, and enjoyment. 2. When making a decision not always are the cost and benefits equally important, just because the fact that school is always more important than a 30 minute hangout session with frends. The time when they are equally important when its hanging out with family or school, because those are two things that you shouldn’t have to make a choice on, but it must be done. The largest impact on my list was the not failing my exam the next morning because that had the power to change my grade, and stress level in the future. 3. My final choice on what to do tonight would definently be to stay...

...Romeo and Juliet: Who’s to Blame? What started as one of the greatest love stories, turned into a tragic struggle, in Shakespeare's, Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet realize that being together wont be auk with their feuding families, but they are selfish with their love and have no idea the consequences that will unfold. Romeo and Juliet had help with their tragic demise. Tybalt, Lord Capulet and Friar Lawrence also played a part in their lives. Juliet;s haughty cousin Tybalt is largely to blame for the lover’s untimely parting. Tybalt is always trying to start fights with Romeo or anybody who shares the last name Montague, and at last one of these fights goes to far and he ends up killing Mercutio. Also Tybalt hates Romeo, and would to anything to have him be gone, and while this doesn’t have immediate effect on Romeo and Juliet, in the end Tybalt dies by Romeo’s hand which in turn gets Romeo banished. Tybalt shows his hate for Romeo when at the ball he says, “I will withdraw; but this intrusion shall/Now seeming sweet, convert to bitter gall” (I.v.100-101). What Tybalt means by this is that he wont kill Romeo then, at the ball, but he will in the end kill him. Tybalt plays a major part in why Romeo and Juliet kill themselves in the end, he unintentionally, but would have liked it, separated them with his death. Lord Capulet also indirectly caused Romeo and his daughters pain, and eventual death. Lord Capulet tries to marry juliet to Paris when she is already married...

...looking after their clients and determining whether they keep their interest in certain companies. So if you're a small stockholder there's not much of a chance but as a collective you're more likely to be represented as the more money involved the more your interests will be protected. You are right in the sense that if its your own money on the line you're going to proactively be vigilant in making that company a sucess. I believe most companies were you have the board of directors all have large stakes in the company will be better run and managed as they are not going to want to see the company fail when their own money is on the line. Any company that has leaders that don't have large holdings in the company or frequently sell or cash in on their shares and options you know it might not be a good company to invest in when the people running it wont even invest their own money in it either. I think its about common sense and doing your research. I believe on the whole the people who have the most money invested in a company to have the biggest say in what happens and their interests are met and they do have a lot of influence. How many of us have shares in a company yet we don't exercise any of our voting rights or go to the AGM or any conferences? Do we give feedback to the company with ideas and suggestions for future growth and...

...Realizing all this, I feel that the only actions I could pursue that would exhibt an understanding of responsibility, I decided to go back to school. This decision brings on an array of concerns and challenges; can I do this, what happens if I fail, how do I juggle my personal responsibilities, will this degree even matter? Now there are credible fears and ludcrious fears in life and for me all these fears boil down to the fear of failure- I don’t want to go through all this hardship and end up flat on my face. I even would go as far to say that most of my early life’s disillusionment stemmed from this fear. Rather than try I would just be critical of those who did. Taking my education and viewing it as a life enhancement will help me during the times of struggle towards my degree. Ultimately, whether or not this gets me a better paying job, the tools I learn here will help me in all the endeavors of my life. Taking this approach will impact the outlook when life wont work how I think it should based on what I’ve done. The question now is, understanding the challenges I face, how will I take responsibility of my success? As I’ve alluded to before, the first step is to transform the way I think. It will do me no good when the struggles arise if I look at college with resentment. I must see this as value added. For me, when things are a positive, it makes it easier to handle the bad that always come along with it. The follow through with this will be the pratical application...

...AS ITALIAN 2015 LESSON REVIEW AND EXAM GUIDELINES Speaking section The 15 minutes preparation time – as quoted by the excel examintation board and I fully support the same opinion my notes are in brackets() . Before the Unit 1 test, students will have 15 minutes to study a stimulus text linked to the general topic area they have chosen. Students must not write on this stimulus, but can make notes on a separate piece of paper. (Notes on key words you have or want to use- these were previously learnt by you). Both the stimulus and any notes must be taken into the exam room, and students can refer to these at any point during the test. (Preferably not for higher marks but if needed referring to them wont be an issue) However, students must not refer to dictionaries or any other resources during the preparation time. (You wont need a dictionary at this point so no problem here right!) * Begin by reading the entire text through (two, three or even 4 times) * Make bullet point notes of the main points of the text * Make a note of any vocabulary from the text which might be useful in discussion of this topic * Do not waste time writing out complete sentences; you will not be allowed to read out long prepared statements anyway (marks are awarded for spontaneity and fluency so please try not to use your notes) * Consider the types of questions which might be asked about the text, and your answers to these questions * Identify any vocabulary you already...

I think that they should be allowed to play them to a extent meaning they can play something that is too crazy but should be able to play things like tackle football. ...choices to produce and distribute clothes faster than other competitors, it is a good for getting a head start on customers before competitors do. Since Zahra clothes focus on a catwalk aspect production is done in small batches, rather than other companies who mass produce. This is why they sell a limited amount of clothes for a limited time. The type of market strategy they have of "buy now or it wont be here later" is a good way to get customers to buy things right away and to continuesly come into the store so they can see what is new and get it before the store runs out. Another competitive choice that Zahra undertook was having each store designed/ re molded various times and having store managers of these locations have huge impact the clothes and sales for certain locations. By having their design team only send new items to particular stores and having store managers have a say in what tye of clothes should be presented in their store they are adjusting accordingly to their atmosphere and trying to make each store individualized. Zahra business model is a little complex but I think their organizational structure is good in some ways. They have store managers doing a lot of things to keep each store individual but at the same time keeping in line with fast moving production. By having store managers track sales the result to me seem more viable than people doing in from across the country. Internal and external producers than come back to the core Zahras central distribution...

...Senator Jones, I am writing to you to discuss the current bill that would like to ban using the method of “code-switching” from the “home language” of AAE (African American Vernacular English) speakers. I have read a study conducted by a Umass professor regarding this issue, and I have read the bill thoroughly. My recommendation to you is to vote against the bill, and I have some very good reasons for it. Banning the AAE instruction will do more harm then good. Although the bill proposes some good reasons for needing to speak mainstream English, it misses a few key points. They claim that linguistic skills like writing and reading are necessary to an individuals success. They don’t realize however, that AAE is a structured language following rules and patterns. The “code-switching” can actually be a useful technique in teaching AAE speakers how to communicate “properly” in mainstream English. Proponents of the bill state that the primary purpose of the education system is to prepare students for success in their careers and to participate equally in society. I think that by banning the teaching of AAE to mainstream English will actually prevent children who speak AAE at home from having an equal opportunity in the first place. It is not separate but equal, since these children are starting from a different version of a language altogether. Their foundation in AAE would make normal English instruction worthless. Since AAE follows rules, “code-switching” is a totally viable...

...or any other factors. Safe Horizon, the largest organization gathered to help support victims of crime and abuse in the United States says, “1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence in their life-time” and “Most domestic violence incidents are never reported.“ These two quotes show that the domestic violence is real problem and will never end. I asked myself “What if every incident was reported? Would that increase the ratio to 2 in 4? Or even a high number?” Domestic violence is a serious issue and it has to be addressed. A lot of the incidents go un-reported and victims must suffer the consequences for the rest of their...

...Returning to school Ernest Barthelemy English Composition I (GSC1235A) Instructor: Lindsay Harrel September 10, 2012 Returning to the class room is difficult experience. Although this isn’t the case for everyone, for some it can be quite overwhelming to overcome the obstacles set out in the path to success. My decision to return now at this time of my life., changing old studying and work habits., and Transitioning from Battlefield to classroom., are my set of challenging obstacles. Each of these challenges plays a major role in my road to a college degree. Failure to overcome these obstacles will only make the whole experience that more challenging and pain full, and with the pressure of returning now, pain full isn’t what I need. First, my decision to return now at this time of my life sets out a challenge. It has been five years since I’ve stepped into a classroom and from what I last remember I wasn’t very good at it back then. The average college freshmen ranges usually from 18-19 years of age, I am 25 returning to college. At my age I have more responsibilities, I’m married, I have a family to support, and a full-time occupation to attend. Unlike the average college student who balances partying and studying, I Balance 40 hours of work per week, a wife at home and the pursuit to maintaining passing grades in college courses. My responsibilities have their share of weight on my chest, but they also motivate me more to not accept failure. Additionally, changing...

...If you’v been drinking heavily, the likelihood is that by 2am you are borderline passing out and wont have the energy or enthusiasm you’l need for any kind of charismatic interaction. This isn't to say that you cant drink and still meet people early on in the night. You can, its just most people are surrounded by their friends and will already have their own agenda for the early part of the evening. It occasionally happens, but it is very seldom that anyone is going to leave all their friends behind for you. For most people, their plan is to dance, drink and meet multiple people. Not spend the peak of the night with one person. Through sobriety, offer groundedness, coherence and authenticity. Standing out from the blithering drunk hordes and actually being coherent is an incredibly attractive trait and one that will work in your favour post...

...many things in his life, his experiences, hard work, dreams, and even his cancer. The first thing that inspired me was his hard work and perseverance. He dedicated his life in his work and even if he was dropped out he didn't give up but he was eager to stand back and fulfill his dream because in hard work comes with success. If all of us Filipinos are into this, I think this will be a great nation to live and our country will gain more and our economy will boost. The Second thing that inspired me was his phrase: "If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it." It is because for me, if you are just idle and waiting for blessings to come, I'm sure it wont come to you. We need to work and have a dream in our lives in order to find what we are looking for. If we fall, we stand. If we fail, we try again. That's what life is all about. Next one was his battle against his cancer or tumor in his pancreas. The doctor said that it was incurable in the first place but Steve didn't surrender and fought this disease. Thanks to God that there was I think a miracle happened to him that his cancer was curable through operation. It only shows that we must put God first in the center of our lives. God is everything and with God everything and anything is Possible. Another phrase that amazed me was: "Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice." It explains that you don't need to bother...

...The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could; but when he ventured upon insult, I vowed revenge. You, who so well know the nature of my soul, will not suppose, however, that I gave utterance to a threat. At length I would be avenged; this was a point definitely settled--but the very definitiveness with which it was resolved precluded the idea of risk. I must not only punish, but punish with impunity. A wrong is unredressed when retribution overtakes its redresser. It is equally unredressed when the avenger fails to make himself felt as such to him who has done the wrong. It must be understood that neither by word nor deed had I given Fortunato cause to doubt my good-will. I continued, as was my wont, to smile in his face, and he did not perceive that my smile now was at the thought of his immolation. He had a weak point--this Fortunato--although in other regards he was a man to be respected and even feared. He prided himself on his connoisseurship in wine. Few Italians have the true virtuoso spirit. For the most part their enthusiasm is adopted to suit the time and opportunity--to practise imposture upon the British and Austrian millionaires. In painting and gemmary, Fortunato, like his countrymen, was a quack--but in the matter of old wines he was sincere. In this respect I did not differ from him materially: I was skillful in the Italian vintages myself, and bought largely whenever I could. It was about dusk, one evening during the supreme madness...

...life will become easier. Living by these agreements I learn to look at situations a different way which helps in a certain aspect of making life easier. Ruiz lived by these four agreements and shared them to help others seek a better life. The four agreements are a new way of living life. Out of all the agreements the three that I focus on the most in my life are to don’t make assumptions, don’t take anything personally, and to always do your best so that I can live an enjoyable and worry free life. The agreement to not make assumptions is a significant agreement that Ruiz talked about because to me it means that you should never judged a book by its cover. “The big mitote in the human mind creates a lot of chaos which causes us to misinterpret everything and misunderstand everything”(Ruiz 65). In our brains we make assumptions because we need to satisfy our need to imply what we think happened or what we think we heard or saw and run with that. If I learn not to make assumptions then that will help me stop worry and not think about the negative thoughts that would cloud my brain rather than the positive thoughts that I should be thinking. I remember when I thought my friend was taking money from me because I forgot we had the same wallet and I confronted him but I forgot my wallet was in my car. Negativity is something that I have learned not to enter my brain because if I do I’m left with nothing but “what if” thoughts. I learned that by assuming things will not get me no where...
