Summer vacation had arrived, and eight-year-old Gizzell "Gizzy" Ford was ready to have fun playing with her friends. But, the straight-A student soon began wishing August would arrive so she wouldn't have to be at home anymore.

Gizzy's summer days were filled with torture and abuse at the hands of her grandmother and father. The little girl was tied to her father's bed for days at a time by her grandmother who wore a belt draped around her neck that she used to beat Gizzy with.

The child was not allowed to eat or drink, even being punished when she was caught drinking water out of the toilet. Gizzy was forced to stand or squat for hours as punishment and had socks and rags shoved in her mouth to keep her quiet.

According to People, Gizzy's rainbow covered diary revealed that no matter how hard she tried, she would end up facing some type of punishment. She wrote: …show more content…
Gizzy's brutally beaten body was found in her home wearing only a pair of ripped underwear.
Her grandmother was arrested for her death along with her father, Andre Ford. Gizzy's dad had chronic scleroderma, which kept him bedridden most of the time in his mother's home where his daughter was killed. The man's illness did not stop him from abusing his daughter. Andre died in jail in 2014 before his trial happened.
