Summer vacation had arrived, and eight-year-old Gizzell "Gizzy" Ford was ready to have fun playing with her friends. But, the straight-A student soon began wishing August would arrive so she wouldn't have to be at home anymore.

Gizzy's summer days were filled with torture and abuse at the hands of her grandmother and father. The little girl was tied to her father's bed for days at a time by her grandmother who wore a belt draped around her neck that she used to beat Gizzy with.

The child was not allowed to eat or drink, even being punished when she was caught drinking water out of the toilet. Gizzy was forced to stand or squat for hours as punishment and had socks and rags shoved in her mouth to keep her quiet.

Her grandmother was arrested for her death along with her father, Andre Ford. Gizzy's dad had chronic scleroderma, which kept him bedridden most of the time in his mother's home where his daughter was killed. The man's illness did not stop him from abusing his daughter.
