Our first course of action was having each member make a list of organizations they would like to volunteer with. Also, with some of us being in the Greek system, we had organizations we normally work with as back up plans. By creating a list of volunteer opportunities, we used the classical model. Once we had a few ideas brainstormed, we contacted our top choices and found out any additional information that wasn’t listed on their websites. We decided to use the classical model when making our decision because there are so many places we could volunteer, and narrowing it down to our top three made the process simpler and faster. When looking back on our decision process, there was no evidence of group think. No one felt like they were conforming to anyone’s ideas, which caused critical decisions to be made and not dysfunctional decision-making.
