The general organization of the cerebral cortex is that it is the outermost layer of gray matter of the cerebral hemisphere. The cerebral cortex develops from the inside out. The first cells that are created move just a little bit to creating the first and the deepest layer. Afterwards, a wave of new cells goes through the first layer and creates the second one and so on and so forth until they reached the sixth layer and the cerebral cortex are then laid down. The four lobes of the cerebral cortex are temporal lobe, frontal lobe, parietal lobe, and occipital lobe. The temporal lobe is located in the temple of brain is responsible for, the visual association cortex, the auditory association cortex, and the primary auditory cortex. The frontal lobe which is located in the …show more content…
The “what” in the visual cortex happens in Area V4 and area TE. These neurons are responsible for responding and the understanding of three-dimensional objects. They also have a negative response with flat objects as lines and spots (2D). That is why it is important for each area to be in charge of a different function. It is important for each one to In the dorsal stream the “where” areas happen in the medial temporal (MT area) and it contains neurons that respond to movement, and in the medial superior temporal (MST area). Here the MST receives information from the extrastriate cortex and executes further examination. Damage to the dorsal stream would still allow it to identify objects, but would not know where the objects are. It would severely disrupt the ability to distinguish moving stimuli. Each of these streams and areas are very specially made for each purpose it has to carry to be able to see objects and comprehend what the individual is looking at and how they can interpret what the object is and also remember what it is
