According to the article titled "Yes Or No To The Pit Bull", Pit Bulls do not make the best pets. Here are some of my facts stating why Pit bulls do not make the greatest pets, because Pit Bulls have the strongest bite they are known to bite and there jaws will lock on there target. ...Dog food is great By T. J. Dunn, Jr., DVM "What is the best food to feed a dog?" Every day veterinarians are asked that question by dog owners. It's a sincere question because most dog owners want to feed the very best to their furry friends. Good health begins with proper nutrition, regardless of price or convenience of acquisition. Please understand that the entire discussion on this page relates to healthy dogs with no kidney, thyroid, food allergy or other abnormal conditions. Also, the content of this page is my opinion regarding the "best" dry food and how to determine what you think is "best" to feed dogs. A big reason why it i is strictly an opinion, there is no single answer to the question "What is the best diet to feed a dog?" Or if there is an answer it is, "It depends". Over the past 37 years I have been examining dogs and cats in my practices I have made it a point to ask the owner "What diet are you feeding?" I have gotten all sorts of answers but in every case I relate the owner's response to what I am seeing in the patient. And over the years my suggestions regarding what to feed have changed. Originally I took the pet food manufacturer's declarations as fact -- that an assortment of "Complete and Balanced" pet foods were perfectly nourishing because that wording was not legally permitted on pet food labels unless feeding trials demonstrated its veracity. I eventually discovered I was mistaken in the belief that any "Complete and Balanced"...

...Why Humans Should Not Feed Their Dogs Human Food American obesity is not only a problem for humans but also for dogs. Families have trouble denying table scraps to their best friend, especially when they are in the habit of doing it. Feeding a dog table scraps can not only quickly lead to obesity and behavioral issues, but it can also impair the dog's health depending on the types of food given to the pet. Even though there are a number of foods safe for dogs to consume, there are even more human foods that can negatively affect a hound's health. Most families do not do enough research on what foods are unsafe for a dog to eat. Americans love their canines and want to reward them with table scraps, but although it may seem...

...Bull breed of dog has a very bad reputation. This is because Pit Bulls are used as fighting dogs for some people’s amusement. Little do people know Pit Bulls are very good family dogs, and often called “The Nanny Dog”. I personally own three Pit Bulls, and have interviewed someone who does not own a pit bull. I have found a lot of information about this breed of dogs and everything points to one question. Although some individuals perceive pit bull dogs to have a bad reputation, many have found these animals to be wonderful house pets when treated with kindness and love. The stereotype of a pit bull is not good at all, but why does this stop people from owning them? I asked a non pitbull owner why she will not own a pitbull. “I personally got bit by a pit bull, so I have seen what they are capable of and this scares me. These dogs have a very powerful jaw and it makes being bit worse. I’m just personally scared of this breed of dog. Being scared of this breed of dog because of being bit by one, makes me weary of going to other people’s homes that own this breed because I’m scared of being bit again.” (Cassie Bailey’s personal interview). I also interviewed a pitbull owner as well. “By owning the pit bull breed for most of my life I have never had a problem out of any of the dogs I have had. The pit bull breed has a bad name, but my dogs have never bit or attacked anyone. My dogs are very loyal and very loving, more of a lap dog than anything. These dogs are very misunderstood...

...Dogs versus Cats: Which Makes a Better Pet? Vicki Fournier COM/155 November 13, 2011 Genevieve Fraser Dogs vs. Cats: Which Makes a Better Pet? There is no right or wrong answer to this question. Some people say they are dog people, some people say they are cat people, and some people say they are both. Beyond the pros and cons, the decision to what makes a better pet often comes down to a person’s lifestyle, expectations, or in certain circumstances a person’s needs. Remember “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” (Hungerford, 1878) Both dogs and cats are common domesticated pets. Dogs have been domesticated for 14,000 years and cats for 7,000 (Cats vs Dogs, n.d.). It appears in my research that most people that were asked this question “which makes a better pet, a dog or a cat” replied with the answer “dogs,” but if dogs are the better pet then why is it that there are 96.3 million homes that own cats and only 77.5 million homes that own dogs. The scientists at Oxford University released a study that claims dogs are smarter than cats and The London Daily Telegraph has reported dogs have been named as more social animals and therefore have bigger brains than the “alone loving cat” (Gatton Star, 2010, p.11). Here is something to think about: have you ever heard of a cat running full speed into a glass door? Sure a dog is a “man’s best friend” and is always there by your side, he can catch a ball in his mouth, and he knows exactly...

(And Why?” ) Then I’ve divided my presentation into 2 parts. In the first part (First), I will answer the first question “What (one) examples of great business ideas do you know?” and give you some information about that. (In the second part ) Then, I will answer the second question by mentioning three reasons. I think my presentation is quite long but it’s very exciting, so please (you should) listen carefully ( or pay attention) in order to answer 3 questions at the end of my talk. Let’s begin. All over the world, (a lot of) Many people was successful in businesss and became the multimillionaire very fast. Of course, every successful business starts with a great idea. Many ideas may be simply (or) and (cái nào cũng dc :P ) silly, but it make powerful effects and get a huge success .Today, I want to tell you about one of the (great) best business ideas, (that is) the PET ROCK. Do you know anything about it ??? Pet Rocks were originated in California by Gary Dahl. In April 1975, Dahl was in a listening to his friends complain about their pets. This gave him the idea for the perfect "pet": a rock. A rock would not need to be fed, walked, bathed, groomed and would not die, become sick, or be disobedient. He said they were to be the perfect pets, and joked about it with his friends. However, he eventually took...

...The Changing Status of Dogs: One Bark at a Time Dylan Sunderland Why do pet owners have paintings and photographs of there pets? Author Katherine Grier writes, “Since the seventeenth century, having portraits made of family members has been one of the most important ways that Americans made statements about their feelings toward one another, their status in their communities, and their desire to preserve the history of their families for posterity” (124). As time progressed animals that were kept as pets began to have different roles for their owners and now they too are being considered a family member. Pets are slowly taking over the world of art as their own roles within the families are changing. Clearly, having pets placed in different forms of art have been used for centuries and they all tell there own different stories as to why they were chosen to be a part of the picture. How about a trip through time from the seventeenth century to the twentieth century to see how dogs have progressed in their roles as pets? Seventeenth century artist, Diego Velázquez, painted the piece of work known as Infante Felipe Próspero. This painting was produced in 1659 using oil on canvas. The location of production is not stated on Artstor.com where the piece was retrieved, but the assumption can be made that it was produced in a Spanish native area because of the title and the author history. This eloquently painted piece of work shows a young human standing next to her puppy...

...anybody can see that the Pit Bull is not a bad dog. Actually, it is said and proved that it was and still is an exceptionally good dog. For example, “pit bulls are the second most tolerant breed tested by ATTS, after only golden retrievers.” (Joshua Holland) Pit Bulls should still be looked upon positively because they were very famous and well known dogs before the mid 1980s and they also are an excellent choice for a family pet. The Pit Bull is not entirely at fault for the reputation that it has. Because of their tough appearance, these dogs are the top choice for “irresponsible breeders, dog-fighters, people who want a tough looking to tie up in their yard and those who refuse to have their male dogs fixed because they think those big, swinging balls make them look tough by proxy.” (Joshua Holland) These dogs are loyal and loving pets who have just been dragged into a negative crowd. For hundreds of years they were considered the perfect dog. That changed after a while though. “By the 1900s, the Pit Bull...

...92 16 July 2014 “Fixing”: What is Not Broken Nearly four to five million dogs and cats are euthanized in the United States. Overpopulation in the dog and cat community has dropped drastically from twenty to thirty years ago, but still many lives of innocent animals are being taken away every day at animal shelters. Many see it as inhumane; however, some see it as their just animals. In Riverside County the euthanasia rate of dogs and cats continues to rise even with new shelters, more workers, better operating hours, and more space. It will take more than just public awareness to stop the killing of innocent healthy animals, spay and neuter programs is what will make that change. Imagine what could happen if the County of Riverside passed a law forcing people to spay and neuter your pet. It would save so many innocent animals lives. Consequently, there has to be a change in Riverside County, all dogs and cats should be spayed or neutered to stop animal over population and the increasing rate of animal euthanasia in Riverside County. To begin with, spaying and neutering your pet will more than just decrease the dog and cat overpopulation but it will save the lives of animals that do not have enough “time” in the shelter to receive a second chance at life. In Riverside County at the Ramona Humane Society, in only one month out of the 600 dogs and cats that came through the shelter, 467 dogs were put to sleep. How can a society allow this to keep going? How many more animals...

...unrelenting pet overpopulation problem. The tale is the story about a group of friends having a picnic on a riverbank. Suddenly, the group hears the sound of crying and looks up, shocked to see a baby floating helplessly in the river. They immediately dive in to rescue the drowning baby. To their horror, the group notices another baby floating towards them. They rush to save that baby, but no sooner is that baby pulled to safety; they see another baby floating. By this time a vicious cycle has started and soon the river is full of drowning babies. Again and again, the group dives into the river, trying to save the seemingly endless flow of drowning babies. One of the people gets out of the river and begins running upstream. A friend shouts “Where are you going?” “I’m going to find out who is throwing the babies into the river and make them stop!” the heroic man yells back, as he runs upstream. The homeless animal problem is very similar to this fable. Animal shelters and rescue groups try hard to save the homeless animals in the “river”. However, this will never solve the problem. Millions of dogs and cats are killed annually as the result of unwanted, unplanned litters that could have been prevented by spaying and neutering. According to the article “Early-Age Spay/Neuter before Adoption,” “With seven to ten million cats and dogs destroyed each year in shelters, it is clear that overpopulation is the greatest killer in the nation of cats and dogs and is the...

...family, coffee, friends. One answer that I bet is heard a lot that I can agree with is my pets. Animals not only spread joy in our lives they enhance and enrich them. Can you guess how many families in America own a dog? I bet it would surprise you if I explained that even though 54.4 million (American Pet Products Association, 2015) households in America own a dog there are still six to eight million (Humane Society, 2014) in animal shelters. This is the reason why America should make puppy mills illegal, make spaying and neutering your pet mandatory unless you have been given a license to breed, and be very stringent on the qualifications of breeders.(awesome thesis!)...

Blackbirds are also extremely territorial and that is why they do not make very good pets. I saw a man riding his bike and a blackbird was chasing him, pecking at his head. Finally, the man threw down his bike and ran for his life. Blackbirds will not kill you but they are very aggressive and territorial...

...Since I remember, I have always wanted a pet but my mom has said several times no that I could not be able to count them. However, my desire of having one has not changed. Although saying that having pets has become in a popular trend nowadays is not completely true –taking into account that this trend exists since humans began to domesticate animals–, reality has changed because now there are easy ways to get a new member in a family: adopting. Nevertheless, there is a huge percentage of people who are like my mother even if getting an animal is not anymore a money issue. People who have a pet can easily state they are happier than people who do not, but no-owners can say they do not face the pressure of responsibilities such as cleaning pets’ matters. Having a pet could bring, as owners say, happiness to the family, but people that are eager of having a new member have to know that it implies certain benefits apart of joy as well as it could bring some disadvantages. Pets are not just a source of happiness or joy; in fact, having them involves a reasonable number of drawbacks. First, animals are carriers of a numerous diseases. For example, cats are known to spread toxoplasmosis, a parasitic disease that could cause seizures and a weak immune system if the parasite affects a fetus. Likewise, rabies is a rare viral disease that can be transmitted if an infected animal bites a person. However, the most common problem that dog owners have to deal with is to be infected with...
