There are a million ways to argue if animal testing is good or bad. There are the “protect the animals” side and the “better than human beings” side going on everywhere. There are no right or wrong side, just look at the pros and the cons. “Animal Testing ProCon.org is a nonpartisan, nonprofit website that presents research, studies, and pro and con statements on whether or not animals should be used for scientific or commercial testing” (ProCon.org). There is definitely many more pros than just five, however, these are the five most discussed. It is very wrong to do this to animals. There is no reason to do this when there are other ways. Animals have feelings as well as humans do. With everything used in these tests and the required amount …show more content…
That will make it hard for certain results to come out accurate for humans because of the alternate species. "It’s very hard to create an animal model that even equates closely to what we're trying to achieve in the human" (ProCon.org). That would also tie in with the creations being made for testing so that we do not have to use animals. Also, using inmates could be an option. They should suffer for what they did to get into prison with all the harmful things that are done to animals. Unless courts relook at the case and find out they are innocent, they are not going …show more content…
This brings us back to “animals and humans are two completely different species”. There have been cases where the medicine worked on the animal and after the following tests, put on the market but have not been so kind to humans. For example, Vioxx, an arthritis drug, showed no harm to the heart of mice, however, did cause more than 27,000 heart attacks and few cardiac deaths before being pulled from marketing. Even though animals do not have rights or the ability to say for themselves, around 87% of tests fail, leaving those test subjects severely damaged or dead. Many die during or soon after the studies and suffer a greatly for what is called “poor studies”. Only 59% of the studies stated the hypothesis or objective of the study and the number and characteristics of the animals

Why Is Animal Testing Bad

...out of every 100 drugs that pass animal tests fail in humans. Animal research presents a lot of conflict on whether it should be illegal or at least have restrictions. Animal experimentation is not only brutal but it is useless and definitely bad science. Animal research is very cruel. Animals are burned, shocked, poisoned, isolated, starved, drowned, addicted to drugs, and brain-damaged. Many animals die during research, whether accidentally or not. And the animals get to feel every part of it because painkillers are not required and often not used. No experimentation, No matter how Painful or trivial, is prohibited. (Gluck) Animals may not be as intelligent as humans, however, they do have nerves and emotion, they are conscious and capable of feeling just like humans. Even if animals do not think or feel like humans do it is still torture....

Arguments Against Animal Testing

...Have you ever wanted to know what happens when bad people do bad animal testing on your pets and animals. Animal testing was started at ( 384 to 322 BC) and ( 304 to 258 BC). That was really a long time when animal testing first start. But today I am here to tell you why I am against animal testing from happening today in your local city or town. I think animal testing should be illegal because in a video that I saw at http://www.peta.org/issues/animals-used-for-experimentation/animal-testing-101/They were hurting the animals and removing the brains of a little mouse that was still alive in the process. Would of you make sure that the mouse did not feel anything happening when it was dead. The first thing why animal testing is bad is because they can make the animal suffer when they get them out of the cage that they are in. I think that they should not making the animals suffer because what happen it was you who was suffering. The second thing is that when they abuse the animal when they get they out of the cage that they live in when they are tested. When the people take they out the animal is scared because the animal does not know where they are at....

Why Is Animal Testing Wrong

...you feel if you were locked in a cage, with people coming and going, experimenting on you? Would you feel good? This is what actually happens to animals. I believe that animal testing is horrible and should not be continued. Why this is important is because of my reasons, that are: first it is expensive; second that it is inaccurate; and my third and most important reason is because animal testing abuses an animal rights. My first reason why I think animal testing is bad is because it is really expensive. According to Vittana “... the total cost of caring for a dog could be over $9000 per year.”. That is only a possibility, and only that, but the cost could still be well over $500, which is the least amount required, and even though...

How many animals do you think die a year? Each year more than 100 million animals die from testing on them.Don’t those number scare you what if they go extinct I mean like there are already hunter killing animals making them extinct why make it worse. What also harms animals is the things what humans are doing.Pollution causing climate change and humans cutting trees down.Everything we do harms the animals or have an...

...different from a human being to a wild animal. We think, we feel, and we see, we all have a life. An animal poked, prodded, and abused is no different from a person being mishandled. Happiness and sadness are two major emotions both animal and human both experience, weather we were born in a jungle or a hospital. The Department of Agriculture has approved the importation of 37 marmosets for experiments in laboratories. We don't know precisely what's in store for these creatures but you can be sure it's likely to be something that turns your stomach. Sydney University in recent years used marmosets in experiments in which their eyes were removed for testing and the animals were put down. About 92% of experimental...

Animal Testing Benefits

...Animals have been tortured and traumatized, but for what? Soap? Some people think it’s okay for animals to die for our benefit, but its really not. Animals deserve rights and should not be taken advantage of. They don’t deserve what the scientists do to them. Not all experiments actually help everyone. Many experiments effect animals very differently than they effect humans, good or bad. In a Nature Reviews Drug Discovery article, it explains how the top leukemia drug, Gleevec, was almost thrown away because it caused severe liver toxivity in dogs. Misleading animal experiments may cause us to throw away possible cures in humans. Vice versa, Vioxx, was shown to protect the hearts of mice, monkeys, dogs, and other lab animals. Though, it was linked to heart attacks and strokes in over 400,000 humans. Therefore, experiments on animals can actually harm humans too....

...you ever wondered the benefits of animal tests? Well, there aren’t many. they delay the releases of cures for many diseases, they yield defective results, and they kill/injure 1,000s of humans and animals each year. This is why I argue that they should be banned from the world. I see how an innocent bystander like yourselves would be fooled by the shroud of lies surrounding animal tests and I hope this can make you see the truth. My first reason is that these tests actually delay cures from being released, not hurry them up like they're supposed to. For instance, blood transfusions were delayed a whole 200 years by animal studies! In addition, The polio vaccine was delayed by another 40 years because of … ( big surprise) monkey tests! My last piece of evidence is...

Argumentative Essay On Animal Testing

...Scientists putting animals through suffrage through medical research, but in any case, it is not contested, but on a scale it often is. There is an up and downstream of whether animal experimentation is a part of good science and also result in medical breakthroughs for humans. Depending on whether the progress may have achieved by any means. Millions of animals each year in the United States are experimented on for testing to help find cures and medicine for sick people/patients. Toxicity of medicine is put into animals and take the risk of whether or not are tests are successful or not so we can research further more. Research is led into saving lives, but what about the ones that are tested for hours on end and spend days in cages without...

Animal Testing

...Humans have used animals for different uses. They have been used for food, clothing farm work and a variety of other uses. So using them to test new medical advances is different. Animal testing for medical purpose help saves lives and future generations. Animal testing should be continued for the use within the medical field. The ancient Greeks believed that animals were created by the gods to be used however people wish. The Bible says God gave man dominions “over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping things that creeps on the earth” (Genesis 9:1-3). The ancient Greeks and Romans influenced the laws of western civilization. The western civilization had no laws saying what you could not do to an animal no matter how cruel or unnecessary the act was (Thorburn). To some people animals have no rights at all while to others animals have rights and should not fell unnecessary pain and suffering. The people who believe animals have no rights; and use them just for their benefits but there is a line that should not be crossed animals do have feelings and some rights. The new movement of animal right groups has some good points like human like primates should not be used in testing like chimpanzees. The first law put in place by western civilizations was in the Massachusetts Bay colony. The law states that it is illegal to exercise any tyranny or cruelty towards any animal which are kept for use by humans...

Why Animal Testing Is Cruel And Inhumane?

...Animal testing is a world wide argument. Many people believe it is cruel and inhumane, others agree it is the best way to get fast results. This is a very controversial topic, especially in psychology. Psychologist do research to learn about behavior and how knowledge of behavior can be used to advance the welfare of people and animals. Overall, animal testing is right because it not only saves human lives, but animals as well, contributes to many life saving cures and lastly animals have shorter life cycles so it speeds up the result process. People think animal testing only benefits us, but it is widely used to save animals all around the world. Because when animals get sick we don't always know or understand why. So what could be better to learn about a rat or chimpanzee than testing on one? Animal researchers have reestablished populations of endangered and threatened species. They did this by...

Many people may ask what exactly is animal testing? Animal testing refers to any procedure performed on living animals for purposes of research, yet there are alternative ways to do that research. Why aren’t we using those? Why do people continue to use animal testing? Some of the most beneficial things that have come from medical testing on animals are Penicillin, various asthma treatments, and insulin (Wpadmin). The majority of the animals used in these types of tests are mammals with a DNA structure...

Ban Animal Testing

...ability of a test substance to irritate or damage the eye. This kind of needless torture happens hundreds of times every day as scientists don’t even care if the animal is suffering. Animal testing should be banned because we don’t need the next eyeliner and we have a different body system than animals. Claim: My claim is that we should not do animal testing. First Argument: The first reason why is that they kill animals just to have the next medicine, soap, and food ingredient. My first piece of evidence: Right now there are millions of animals such as dogs, cats, rats, mice, and primates getting tortured just to get the next product of eyeliner. In a recent article by PETA they said that “More than 100 million animals every year suffer and die in cruel chemical, drug, food, and cosmetics tests”(PETA), just to see if the products work. There are some countries such as Europe are getting away from buying products that were animal tested. China is different, they are continuing to sell animal cosmetics. What are cosmetics? A product applied to the body, especially the face, to improve its appearance. In 2014 “China spent 26.3 billion dollars, just on cosmetics”(Jeanne Kim). This proves that people should not kill animals just to get the next resource. The second piece of evidence: Animals are suffering mentally and physically in the facilities where they are getting treated. In the “United States there are over 1,100 facilities” where dogs, cats...

...Testing Products on Animals Today there are many ways to test products and find cures for diseases. Doctors can take tissue samples from people and grow them in test tubes to evaluate the specimen. They can also use computer modeling techniques to study diseases and products. With so many ways to test products and find cures, doctors do not need to rely on animals. Doctors should not use animals for testing because it is cruel and unreliable. Doctors should not use animals in experiments because it is unreliable. Animals are very different than humans, so what worked on an animal might not work on a person. 95% of drugs that worked in animal tests failed on humans. A recent study showed that only 19% of 93 dangerous drug side effects could have been predicted by animals. “Using mice and rats to test the safety of drugs is only accurate 43% of the time” (Dr. Nick Palmer Unreliable animal testing). That shows that using rodents to test products isn’t the best thing for doctors to rely on. In 2011, the Institute of Medicine concluded that there was no current need for chimpanzees in biomedical research. Chimpanzees share up to 98% of their genes with...

...from lotions to wrinkle cream are tested on animals to insure our safety. Two of the main animals that are used for experiments are monkeys and rats. While most would consider the two every similar, they are actually more different than alike. The major reason why people think that the experimentation of primates and rats are mostly similar is the fact that there both being experimented on and morally wrong against both species. While the statement above is true, each of the species are hold to a different moral standard. People usually associate rats to sickness and filth while monkeys have any bad connotation link to it. Because of this, rats are more commonly used in animal experiment when...

Why Animal Testing Is Necessary

...Animal Testing Every single year, in the United States alone, an estimated 26 million animals are killed due to animal testing (Animal Testing, 2016). To make matters worse, most of these animals are killed after they have served their purpose. The other animals that are “lucky” enough to live are usually injured and spend the rest of their lives in captivity. Animal testing should not be permitted because animal testing usually proves futile and it is harmful to the animal subjects. One reason animal testing should be banned is because some of the substances that are tested don’t prove to be useful. Many of the substances that are tested are not accepted or even released to the public (Murnaghan, 2016). Therefore, some of the animals die...
