...Teens and the outcome based on the laws on minors and abortion If you had a teenage daughter, how would you feel if she came home and said she was pregnant? Many teens fear to bring home a bad report card, getting in trouble at school, or even bringing home the boyfriend. Although, these are reasonable fears, the fear of telling your parents you’re pregnant at 13 is greater. Often the answer to teenage pregnancy is abortion, or illegal abortion. In many states, abortion is difficult to receive without parental consent. The laws that state this make it harder on the pregnant teen and unborn baby. If teen abortion was allowed without parental consent, there would be a lower mortality rate of teen moms and babies. Sadly, the age of sexually active teens lowers each year. When there is an unplanned pregnancy, teens are scared, and unsure as what to do. When abortion is considered it is a choice normally influenced by where she lives, beliefs, friends, fear of telling parents, abuse, if there are any places for teens to go for pregnancy, and even situations involving the pregnancy. Abortion is a tough subject for many. I myself do not believe in having an abortion, but that does not mean I’m against others in having the choice. There are places teens can go to get help in whatever they decide to do. Planned Parenthood Federation of America is one place that teens can go to and get the advice and help with whatever choice they may make. This is their statement on abortion,...

...serial killers, ones that kill unborn babies. That is what happens when a mom aborts, they use their money, sometimes their insurance’s money, and even worse sometimes they even use taxpayer’s money (Ganga)! The U.S. protects endangered animals more than unborn baby humans. It shouldn’t be that way, the U.S. should protect both equally. Veterinarians don’t abort baby puppies, so why should doctors abort baby humans (Forslee)? It is just wrong. Abortion is a big problem in our community. In the U.S, there...

...other. Making us feel a sense of acceptance. When it comes to abortion we have a different opinion regarding right and wrong and often lead to disagreements, arguments, and altercations. Although we all have different opinions and beliefs, we need to express and educate our self’s in abortion, Pro-life, Pro-Choice, and or no choice to hopefully understand how sensitive the issue really is. An abortion is a procedure that is used to end a pregnancy. It is terminated by medicine or surgery that removes the embryo or fetus and placenta from the uterus. It is done by a licensed physician leaving it up to the women to end a pregnancy. According to the US statistics one in every three Women will have an abortion by the time she is 45 years old. Abortion is considered to be safer than child birth and the serious complication rate is less than one percent .Abortion is legal in the United States and is far more complicated than most people imagine. American women have right to obtain an abortion in all fifty states, through all nine months of pregnancy, for any reason. As time goes by a woman has the option to terminate the unwanted pregnancy. The cost of an abortion is determined by how far along pregnancy is. An average ten non hospital abortion at ten weeks is $523.00 and for a non-hospital abortion at twenty weeks is $1,339.00. Under federal regulations abortions cannot be paid for with federal funds. Although, abortion is considered to be safer than child birth and the serious complication...

...legal in the United States, abortion has been an ongoing controversial topic for many years, especially when it was legalized throughout America in the 1973 case of Roe vs. Wade. Present day statistics say that if abortion continues at the ongoing rate, about 1.2 million a year, almost ⅓ of American women will have an abortion at some point in their life. Abortion has become commonly used in America, yet many people are demanding to minimize the allowance to abort a child without realising the damaging effects it may have. Without the right of an abortion, the number of children being put up for adoption will increase, women will have a higher risk of being injured from trying to receive an abortion illegally, and ban other benefits of being able to have a safe, legal abortion. According to a 2014 study, 48% of people who participated in an abortion survey seem to believe that abortion is morally wrong. A large amount of people who are against abortion are mainly under the impression that having an abortion is considered murder. Pro-lifers (people...

...With or Without Abortion There are a few topics that are quite controversial in this decade. Whether abortion should be legal or not is one of them. There have been plenty of arguments involving this controversy. As for the legal aspect, there have been some court cases concerning abortion. One could have many reasons as to why abortion should be legal: a women’s freedom of her body, rape instances, and birth control failures are some of them. Pregnancies do occur even when women are taking precautions to ensure there are no mistakes. Using a birth control method is normal for a majority of women. There are IUD’s, pills, condoms, spermicides, diaphragm, cervical caps, and withdrawal. “The fact is that an overwhelming 53% of unplanned pregnancies occur in women who are using contraceptives” (Cornforth, 2009). Using IUD’s can have a two to four percent failure rate. If the IUD moves out of its place it will not function correctly. A woman should regularly check the string to confirm the IUD’s placement in the cervix. If using a diaphragm or cervical cap, the possibility of contraception is still at thirteen percent. It is quite easy for these to shift in their placement and therefore, producing less protection. The withdrawal method is used frequently, more in young adults. This reason is due to fact, of them either having a lack in education or they believe the false rumors they hear from their peers that pre-ejaculatory semen cannot impregnate them. Withdrawal can also fail...

...Abortion Should Be An Option Christine Ouimet Informal Logic Aaron Novinger March 19, 2012 Abortion Should Be An Option Thirty- nine years ago the Supreme Court ruled in Roe vs. Wade to legalize abortion. It is a women’s right to have an abortion if she wants to. A woman should never feel like they are a killer because of the choice of going with abortion. Way too many teenagers are getting pregnant; not allowing them to get an abortion is saying that they have to raise their child as a single mother or in poverty (Jacob, Weisberg). Children or woman that are raped or woman who can’t cope mentally or physically with a baby should not be forced to go through the whole pregnancy. It is not their life we are talking about there are children being brought into the world and having to live in poverty and suffer. Abortion as an option would help the children being born to teenage mothers, the women that are raped not have to live with the rape their whole lives and woman that can’t mentally handle having a child another option. Part 1: Argument Abortion should be an option for any woman if they are pregnant and feel they do not want to have the baby. They may choose abortion so they don’t have to go through all of the emotions of carrying the baby to full term and then giving it up for adoption. Teenage girls that get pregnant and are not allowed to have an abortion are being set up for failure in the future. How can a child take care of another child? Teenagers that...

...Abortion: Why it's Wrong How would you feel if someone took away your ability to live? Imagine not having any say in whether or not you want to have a life. Well babies don't have a choice in their mother’s womb. If a woman decides to abort her baby, they can't do anything about their life being taken away from them. Their whole future is demolished. I believe abortion is wrong when committing it for a selfish reason. One reason why abortion is wrong is because there are many other safer solutions. In the article, Why Do More People Choose Abortion Over Adoption?, Kristi Burton Brown stated: “In the USA, there are approximately two million infertile couples waiting to adopt, many times regardless of the child’s medical problems such as Down Syndrome, Spina Bifida, HIV infection or terminally ill. Dr. Brad Imler, President of America’s Pregnancy Helpline, confirms the challenge of waiting couples by stating: Only 1% of the Helpline’s annual 40,000 clients inquires about adoption.” Putting him/her up for adoption will give them a better chance at a happier life rather than abortion. The solution for a baby should not be death. If it was for a selfish solution, you're sacrificing a life many other families would love to raise as their own. Another reason why I don't support abortion is because it can harm the mother as well. You are highly risking the mother's life and affecting her. Not only does it have an effect on the USA but, it affects other countries as well like...

...The Effects of Teenage Relationships Different relationships affect teenagers in various ways. Friends impact teenagers almost the same amount as their parents. Teenagers go to their friends for help or to ask questions that they could not ask their parents about. Most of the time their friends give them good advice but then there is the down side when they put pressure on their friends to do something like to smoke, drink, and do drugs. In most cases they tell their friends how to dress and act when around certain people. Love relationships just make it even harder for a teenager to get a good education. Some start to fail in school because they are hanging out with their boyfriend or girlfriend instead of doing their work. Throughout adolescence, teenagers are positively and negatively impacted by several relationships such as friends, family, and love relationships. Friends have a big influence on teenagers because they can say and do many of things to teenagers who think they were friends. They also start rumors and take their friends girlfriend or boyfriend and have them cheat on their friend. Some go out to drink, smoke, or to do drugs just to have fun but some think of driving home and most teenagers do not even make it to their driveways. Some teenagers who are so depressed about their social problems even think about committing suicide. Most start to hurt others turn into “goth’s” by dressing in all black. Many of depressed people show how they feel by dressing differently...

...10 November 2015 Freedom of Choice: A Woman’s Right In 2011, approximately 1.06 million abortions took place in the United States. 85.5% of those abortions were performed on unmarried women. The reasons vary on why a women chooses abortion over birth. From having unprotected sex, failure of birth control and even rape are to name but a few. Either way, the birth of a child comes with lifelong responsibilities and affects both mother and child (Abort 73.com, 2009). Regardless of the reasons for choosing abortion, it comes down to having the freedom to choose what happens to our bodies. It is our bodies that will be subjected to the changes pregnancy brings as well as the risks. It is our finances that will support that child throughout its life. It is our maternal skills that will raise that child to be a caring, valuable member of society. Members of congress or pro-life advocates are not going to come to our homes and do these things for us so therefore, it has to be our choice to control whether we proceed with or terminate a pregnancy. If termination is our choice then we should have access to that option in a clean, safe environment. With over one million women choosing abortion over giving birth, lends to the supporting evidence in favor of right to choose arguments. Women should not be dictated to by laws of government or religious ideology in regards to their own bodies. They should retain control and be free to exercise their freedom of choice. Pregnancy can be a wonderful...

...therefore, that would make abortion murder. The baby that is growing inside of the woman is depending on her, so when she makes the choice to end that baby's life; they are making the choice to murder another person. Someone that believes in the pro-choice theory would say that the decision is up to the woman, but the person with the pro-life theory would say that it is murder no matter what the situation. Most people consider it murder to kill a baby the day after it is born. Then why would it not be murder to kill it before it is born? There are many abortions performed each year in the United States. Seventy-five percent of all abortions in the U.S. are performed on women over twenty years of age, but the lawmakers try to concentrate on the 186,000 teens that have an abortion each year. In 1990, there were nearly 400 abortion bills were that were introduced to forty-one legislatures. So far, as many as twenty states have passed a law that requires a teenager to have parents consent before having an abortion. This may help reduce the number of abortions each year. The people that passed these bills feel that maybe the parents will feel differently about the situation and be able to talk their child out of it. Twenty percent of teens that are sexually active do not use any form of birth control. These are the teens that end up getting pregnant and getting an abortion. If these girls would use some kind of contraceptive it could stop a lot of the abortions performed each year....

...Should Abortions Be Made Illegal? Abortion has always been a very controversial issue. This can be due to the fact that people have different beliefs that are emphasized by their own religion and set of moral values. Many people believe that abortion is wrong, but they believe that is it only wrong under certain circumstances. This could be true, but is it more right to kill for a specific reason than to just do it because you made an irresponsible decision? I believe that young teenage girls have the right to decide what to do with their own bodies, but they do not have the right to choose someone's lives. There are several ways that teens can prevent an abortion. What I would have to say is the biggest key to this problem is using a condom. If young teenage girls can remember to buy hair products, cloths, shoes, and accessories than why can’t they remember to buy a condom? Teens love to act mature and responsible but once they land in a horrible situation they turn to their parents. By using a condom they can prevent an unwanted baby. Why bring a baby into this world if you cannot provide for it and cherish it. If many teenage girls can go out and have fun and live for the moment they should also think about the future. Getting pregnant at any age should be a wonderful surprise and not the end of the world. Another way of preventing pregnancy is by getting a birth control shot or taking birth control pills. In today society there are many options to choose from. Abortion...

...Abortion Today, abortion is a big issue concerning women because for years it had been said that abortion should not be legal. Many people feel aborting an unwanted child, or killing an unwanted child should be against the law. Many people don't' know what abortion is, who can receive abortions, and why people would even choose to get them. I feel as though a woman's body is her own to do with what ever she wants. Therefore, on the topic of abortions, I am pro-choice. First of all, before a person makes a decision about abortions, they should know exactly what it is. The dictionary defines Abortion as: The termination of pregnancy and expulsion of an embryo or of a fetus that is incapable of survival. This simply means, inducing birth to kill the fetus, or baby before it is carried to full term. Often times early in a pregnancy, a woman will go to the doctor, and take a pill, and doing that will terminate pregnancy. If it is later, then she has to have the baby surgically removed from her body. If it is too late, then she will be unable to have the procedure. Second of all, not everyone is able to receive abortions. As earlier stated, if a woman were too far along into her pregnancy, she would be considered unable to have an abortion. Often times, doctors will recommended girls under the age of 16, and over the age of 35 not have an abortion because at those ages, it might prevent them...

...Abortion Should the government have a say in our personal lives? Isn’t America supposed to be a “free country”? Abortion has been an on- going debate since 1973, in the Roe vs. Wade case. This did in fact legalize abortion and is now in the United States Constitution. There are many reasons why abortion should stay legalized and why I am pro- choice abortion. Under certain circumstances, abortion may be the most appropriate or suitable action to take. The government and religious beliefs should not be included with a personal decision such as abortion. It is acceptable to have an abortion to sustain and stabilize a normal healthy lifestyle. First, anti-abortion people tend to judge mothers who went through with an abortion, but what they do not understand and realize is the type of situation the mother might have encountered to end up getting an abortion. For example, what if a women got raped by a stranger and ended up pregnant? First off, the woman was probably unprepared for a pregnancy let alone a rape attack! The baby’s life wouldn’t be the same without a father, especially not knowing who the father is, I agree that it is not the baby’s fault it got conceived in a terrible way, but the lifestyle the baby and the mother will live after the baby is born will be unhealthy and very unstable. Another example is if a young woman in her teen years has had an unplanned baby. The young woman has her education to think about and is not ready and cannot handle the responsibility...

...have not been educated about sex prior to becoming pregnant, due to the lack of communication between the teenager and her parents. There are major health concerns to be faced for teenage mothers and their unborn child. There are options available to teen moms when making decisions on parenthood; being a teenage mother is one of the most difficult experiences a young person might ever face. There are many causes for teenage pregnancy. First, teenagers take unwanted risks due to lack of knowledge and education on teenage pregnancy. Many parents feel uncomfortable about discussing sex with their children. “Most people evade their children from talking about sex. In some cases, they provide false information regarding sex and discourage their children to participate in any informative discussion about sex.” Giving your child false information is not smart! Talking to your children at an early age and answering any questions they have directly and honestly can be a step closer towards preventing teenage pregnancy. That’s why it is very important as parents to educate our children before it’s too late. (What are the Causes of Teenage Pregnancy) Lack of knowledge for safe sex is considered to be another cause of teen pregnancy. Teens between the puberty ages of 12 to 15 years old are exposed to the subject of sex. Because both boys and girls are curious about the changes in their bodies, they act in unprotected sexual ways, primarily due to lack of knowledge. Teenagers want to talk...

...Abortion has been and still is a very controversial issue. The Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade in 1973 truly brought the issue of abortion to the public eye for the first time. For those who don’t know, abortion is defined as, “ the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy”. The most common types of in-clinic abortions are called aspiration and dilation and evacuation (D&E). Aspirations are when a small tube is inserted into the cervix and the fetus is gently vacuumed from the uterus. A D&E is almost the same procedure, except medical instruments are used alongside the vacuuming. In pregnancies late into the second trimester (6 months since conception), a shot may be given through the abdomen of the woman so the fetus’ heart is stopped before the procedure begins. Aspirations are typically performed up to the first 16 weeks of pregnancy, and D&E is usually performed after the first 16 weeks. Both types are very quick. Aspirations take about 5-10 minutes while D&E’s take about 10-20 minutes. Both methods are almost guaranteed to work. There are many reasons to get an abortion, and abortion should always be legal. The classic argument for those that are pro-abortion (pro-choice) is that it is the woman’s right to choose whether she has an abortion or not, hence why those that favor abortion are referred to being pro-choice. A woman should definitely have the option to have an abortion, and denying women the right to have an abortion would be a social injustice. It’s her body...
