Generational Symbols In Yaa Gyasi's Home

...Trusting someone else can be complicated; however, truly trusting yourself is even harder. These concepts are demonstrated in Shakespeare’s Macbeth, August Wilson’s Fences, José Olivarez’ Citizen Illegal, and Yaa Gyasi’s Homegoing. To become your own best ally, you must separate yourself from society’s standards, communicate effectively, and break generational curses. One way to be your best ally is by separating yourself from society’s standards. In the book Homegoing, the character H follows a complicated trajectory. He’s mother was kidnapped right before his birth, and he was ripped from his dead mother’s womb and born into slavery. His life starts out with him experiencing the injustices in society. Later in his life, H is in a worker’s...

First of all, I will show the transcript I took part in between me and a member of the public (Customers) at McDonald’s Barnsley’s store on Old Mill Lane. I aimed to ask primarily around the 4P’s (Product, Price, Place & Promotion) and their overall opinion on the organisation along with improvements they could think of for them. During my first inetview, It was a woman, around middle aged and currently inside McDonald’s at the time, therefore the information I was receiving was legit and was useful to use. Me: Do you think that McDonald’s prices are reasonably affordable for you and your family? Customer: Definitely, I think they are fair and within reason, they beat the majority...

Senior Research Project Reflection

...Although I finished my data collection a few weeks ago (hence the lack of posting), I've been continuing my work with YAA and the i.d.e.a. Museum. Over the course of my Senior Research Project, I've gained experience with research in a non-scientific setting, and I've also learned more about what makes outreach efforts successful. While my involvement with Young Authors of Arizona continues, the awards ceremony two weeks ago marks my last event as a Student Leader with YAA. I recently committed to the University of Pennsylvania, and I hope to apply what I've learned about writing outreach to similar efforts in Philadelphia. For now, I'm looking into future projects for YAA and searching for new student leadership to make those projects happen. I'm also helping the i.d.e.a. Museum to develop a more formalized summer program for teen volunteers....

...What is the difference between public and private finance? Government expenditures are the expenditures incurred by the Government for development of the country and also on non-development objectives in view. Government revenue comes from taxation i.e. direct taxation and indirect taxation. Government ‘debt is obtained from internal and external sources. Loans from internal sources are obtained by selling Government securities to the people whereas external sources are those such as the World Bank, IMF etc. Public finance is for the benefit of the people in general unlike private financing which is confined to a particular purpose i.e. family matter only. We shall now take up the difference between the two. The basic difference between public and private financing is that an individual adjusts his expenditure in accordance with the given income. On the other hand, the Government relatively speaking adjusts its income in accordance with its expenditure. Thus, the individual is only able to spend so much but the government may spend as much as it likes and then care of the income. Relatively speaking the Government prepares its expenditure first or rather it estimates expenditure, and only then devises ways and means to obtain the amount required. However, sometimes the individual also does the same thing as the Government and vice versa. i.e. when the Government realizes a surplus budget it would increase expenditure in specific areas and when the public revenue is declining...

Marhan yaa Ramadhan, pucuk selasih bertunas menjulang dahannya patah tolong betulkan, puasa Ramadhan kembali menjelang, salah dan khilaf mohon dimaafkan. Selamat menunaikan ibadah puasa. Dirangkai kata dengan Bismillah, terucap salam seiring sembah. Sepuluh jari kami aturkan sebagai izin kemaafan. Semogo Ramadhan membawa bahagia buat kita semua. Abu Hurairah reported the Messenger of God (pbuh), saying: "Allah said 'Every action of the son of Adam is for him except fasting, for that is solely for Me. I give the reward for it. The fast is a shield." May this month of Ramadan be a month of abundance, a month of compassion, and assistance for you and your family. This holy month is full of blessing and wisdom, may the greatness of Allah fulfil your desires and dreams. Abu Umamah reported: "I came to the Messenger of God and said: 'Order me to do a deed that will allow me to enter Paradise.' He said: 'Stick to fasting, as there is no equivalent to it.' Then I came to him again...

...his work farm songs on the street” and “JC was called the rack/ at the work farm.”. Espada writes his poetry in such a way that makes you want to know more about the charictor. “ Once a sudden fist crushed the cartilage of his nose across his face but JC only grinned”. This shows JC dose not feel pain, or at least dose not care. Something has gotton him to the point where violence dose not harm him. He seems to be almost broken in a way. I find the way Martin Espada writes about Jc to be very interesting. Luci Tapahonso had a different way of talking about her charictors. In “All I Want”, the old lady has a very simplistic way of going about things. When Luci Tapahonso asks the lady how many cups in the recipe, she replies with “ ah yaa ah” “I don’t Measure with cups./ I know by my hands,/ Just a little like this see?’ I really enjoy that quote. It shows how sometimes we can take for granted the simple things. It shows how we follow our lives step by step when you don’t have to. I really like how Luci Tapahonso used dialogue to tell me what the old lady said then explaing it. If she had said, “the old lady says she dosnt use measureing cups” it would not turn out as well. Although the old lady is not of huge importance to the poem, her way of doing things has changed the way I think about the way we live. I belive Poets use charictors in their poetry to get theyre point across. Much of poetry is from the Poet to you, but in Martin Esoada and Luci Tapahonso’s poetry...

Two Reasons Why Europeans Were Forced To Imperialize Africa

...“We will fight the White men.We will fight until the last of us falls on the battlefields.”, This is a quote from Yaa Asantewaa the Ashanti queen mother, as her and her tribe resisted European conquest. European actions had several reasons to imperialize Africans. Two reasons were the resources and cheap labor africa offered. The hunger for power drove the European powers into a frenzy to control the continent based on the belief that they were superior, thereby destroying both the African land and its people, which was thought as White Man’s Burden.White Man’s burden was the a self-right of the white peoples to manage the affairs of the less developed non-white people. Most Africans choose to consolidation or surrender to the european power.Yet, a peaceful relationship with european powers was not as option for most african nations. European powers had a true lust for resources in africa. Their first attempts at african resources were formal business. In 1886, the british Royal Niger Company presented a contract to african chiefs near the Niger river delta and surrounding...
