...1 [alarm rings] [Kanye West's "Jesus Walks" plays] Dre: Okay, so, I'm just your standard, regular ol' incredibly handsome, unbelievably charismatic black dude. - [snorts] - Now, this drooling, pigment-challenged, mixed-race woman is my wife, Rainbow. And, despite what she looks like right now, she's a doctor. We're lucky. We've got a great house, four great kids, and my Pops. It's a far cry from where it all began. That's why I promised my parents I'd get an education, graduate, and get myself out of there. I guess for a kid from the hood, I'm living the American Dream. The only problem is, whatever American had this dream probably wasn't where I'm from. And if he was, he should've mentioned the part about how when brothers start getting a little money, stuff starts getting a little weird like in my neighborhood. Sometimes I feel like a bit of an oddity. [amplified] And if you look to your left, you'll see the mythical and majestic Black Family out of their natural habitat and yet still thriving. Go ahead and wave. They'll wave right back. - Woman: They're smiling. Hi. Hello. - Man: The little ones are cute. They're just just amazing. Sometimes I worry that, in an effort to make it, black folks have dropped a little bit of their culture and the rest of the world has picked it up. They even renamed it "Urban". And in the "Urban" world, Justin Timberlake and Robin Thicke are R&B Gods, Kim Kardashian's the symbol for big butts, and asian guys are just unholdable...

Pause to wait for laughter I’m excited because Tims latest movie is a gritty boiler drama highlighting the decline in the boiler making industries in mid 70’s Hartley pool. [Laughter] Ross: oh no sorry, that’s Ken Lough, I’m sorry no. his new movie is the phenomenal re-imagination, it’s a new version of Alice in Wonderland. That’s Mr Tim Burton. I’ve seen the movie and I adored it. And if we have time we have another guest as well, he’s worked with Tim on many of his movies, and a couple of others you may have heard of too. Its Johnny Depp Ladies and Gentlemen, ah yes, yes. Calm down, calm down! Depp: [laughing] Ross: He’s just flesh and blood, apparently attractive flesh and blood, but I can’t see it myself. [Laughter] Ross: Everybody, were all very excited Johnny is here on the show. I showed up this morning for rehearsals, there were 19 poofs and a piano, that’s news I tell you. Laughter. ...you define religion and what constitutes of religion? E: I think religion is a set of belief that is followed by an individual that according to him probably leads to a Supreme Being or power. What constitutes it, ummm… lets say: faith, belief. It serves as a moral compass for human beings. It is a sort of guideline. For me there are two extremes: heaven and hell. Hell indicates the bad and heaven is for the good. The preacher who actually came up with this idea wanted us to maintain the delicate balance and stay in the center. So yeah, it is a guideline for me. G: it is probably a way of life. Our faith tells us how to live our life, keeping in mind the afterlife M: And what constitutes it? G: my religion has five basic pillars: shahada (faith) which is the declaration stating that there is only one god, the Allah, the creator of all beings; salat (prayer); charity; fasting and pilgrimage. G: i think it is a way to live our life E: yeah, but that’s kind of subjective as, I mean we don’t actually worship any type of god. Look at Hinduism, they have many gods, all different but they worship all of them. So, god in fact has many forms and shapes. It can be anything whether it’s a being, air or other inanimate object. B: exactly, I fell that religion is set a belief and guidelines; it is not necessary that it should have some definite shape. It...

Jacob was going crazy and ran towards it. A cop blew his whistle at Jacob but that didn’t do anything. When Jacob got really hype over a car nothing else around him existed. You could scream at him with 20 mega-phones lined up like you were Bart Simpson but all he could hear was that majestic heavily upgraded W16 8 litre quad turbocharged engine. My phone rang. “Hey I’ll catch up Jacob give me a sec.” I picked it up. “Hello?” “Hey Jeremy.” a deep voice echoed. “Yeah, uh, who’s this?” The voice was extremely deep. You would expect if it went any lower than only Alligators and Crocodiles could hear him. “How much you got on you?” “Uh, like 10 bucks why? And you aren’t answering my question bruh. Who are you?” In the background I heard a voice. “Is that Jeremy!” The voice was quivering and sounded extremely nervous. It was a man’s voice of whoms sounded at a high level of familiarity. “Jeremy!” The voice screamed sounding out of breath. “Listen to what he says!” screamed the voice. “That’s right Robert.” the mysterious voice said. “Robert… Robert….” I said to myself. Then it clicked. It was my uncle Robert. You see, as a kid I wasn’t really raised by my parents. They died in a plane crash. My uncle stepped in and raised me. “Hey!” I yelled. “What the hell's going...

...“Probably!” Pedro hisses. “I don't trust probably!” he says as Josh starts to climb up the rope. “Just deal with it. We’re already pretty far up the mountain, so there isn't much we can do about it. Anyway-,” Jeff replies, until he is cut off by Pedro’s yelling. “Josh! The ice is crumbling! You're gonna start a landslide!” Pedro screams. “Huh? Wha-” he shouts back until the hook dislodges and he is thrown back onto the ground. “Agggggggggh!” “Oh my god! Are you ok!?” Jeff shouts as he sprints over. “Yeah, just a few bruises.” Josh says. “I’ll be probably fine.” he says as he looks off into the distance. “The sun is setting, so we should probably set up camp right now anyways.” “Pedro, try to find some dry wood that we could try to use to make a fire,” Jeff orders. “Fine,” Pedro grumbles as he walks off through the thick forest on the side of the mountain. After 20 minutes of searching, he finally finds something interesting. “Guys! Get over here!”, cries out Pedro, as he stumbles upon the pale, lifeless body of an old mountain guide. Jeff & Pedro swiftly rush over to the site of this poor man’s...

...10:25 Written by Erik Choquette INT. SARAH’S HALLWAY - DAY A splash of sunshine lands on a PAINTING that hangs on a dark blue wall. In it, streaks of red crash into paths of orange and yellow, all combining to form a vague likeness of a GIRL’S EYE. Each stroke is calm and contained, but as a whole, the eye is passionate and wild. FADE TO BLACK. INT. SARAH’S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT SARAH HENSON, 18, tosses aside some brown wrapping paper and a red ribbon as she sits cross-legged on the white carpeted floor, leaning back against the bottom portion of a brown leather sofa. She holds the PAINTING of the eye. SARAH Oh my god. Chris- It’s wonderful! Her brown bangs fall across her face, hiding her left eye. She sweeps them away to continue inspecting the painting. CHRIS TAYLOR, 18, is lying on the floor across from her, stretched out on his side. His brown hoody has specks and smears of dried paint on it. So do his black jeans. One knee is shredded, and the other is just beginning to follow suit. CHRIS Well, it is yours. The eye, I mean. Sarah smiles to herself as she gazes at the painting. SARAH It’s a bit weird though isn’t it? I mean, my eye hanging on a wall somewhere, staring at me forev- CHRIS I never said you had to keep it. Sarah looks up at him, her mouth cracked in surprise, and her slim eyebrows raised. He avoids her glance by plucking at the stray white carpet fibers and then smoothing them back down. SARAH What? CHRIS I dunno. You just...

As my student was observed one could not help to observe other English language Learners in the class. You will quickly realized that no matter what part of the world people come from weather it is from Mexico, Japan, Iraq Africa or Russia, all English Language Learners begin the learning process at the same starting point, the basics. This shadowing project took place in a Junior Resource English class at Frontier High School. The student that was observed was a 15 year old male from Russia whose native language was Russian until he was adopted by an American family at the age of 12. With this student, I believe because of his love and desire to read it has helped him in reading, writing, speaking and understanding the English Language. Scaffolding lessons is not of big concern at this point with this student in high school because of his prior...
