My results for the Race IAT showed me that I have a slight preference towards White people than Black people. The IAT test measures our attitudes towards a specific concept such as Race or Religion and it measures the amount of strength between each of those concepts. It does this by asking you a series of personal questions so it can get a feel for how you feel about the topic you chose. It then asks you to use two keys the I and E keys to put pictures and words into two different categories. Depending on how fast you do this and how arcuate you are it will determine whether you are bias towards one concept more than another. An example of this would be the Race test and it has you put pictures of people into their right category whether it be Black or White and it …show more content…
The summary is that Conley describes the different types of races and how they have struggled in a country that was in the begging a White country. He describes how the definitions of these races have changed overtime and how it effects America today. Conley gives all sorts of different facts and the history of these different Racial groups, he explains Race versus Ethnicity. Conley talks about Symbolic ethnicity and how it is more of a choice for middle class Americans who are white than anyone else. Conley goes over the importance of being White and how White people can have more of an advantage than other racial groups. He goes over Segregation and Discrimination and how it was such a big issue even now. In this chapter Conley explains a wide range of interesting facts of how the world looks at the topic of Race in America. The test relates to this chapter not only because of its name but because it shows that deep down everyone is bias towards there racial group. It shows that people will make a decision on someone by the way they look or dress, but not by the way they may actually think or
