    Atmospheric Pollution

Atmospheric Pollution As I had started my research on atmospheric pollution, I had come to find that it all coincides with global warming. Due to the gases that are being released in the air from vehicles, it starts to destroy the atmosphere. However, it is not just the gases from the vehicles, there are also gases from power plants and aerosol cans, for example, hairspray. Smokers also contribute to the pollution in the atmosphere. All of this will be discussed further into the paper.

greenhouse gas. At the point of discharge from man-made sources, nitric oxide, a colorless, tasteless gas, is the predominant form of nitrogen oxide. Nitric oxide is readily converted to the much more harmful nitrogen dioxide by chemical reaction with ozone present in the atmosphere. Nitrogen dioxide is a yellowish-orange to reddish-brown gas with a pungent, irritating odor, and it is a strong oxidant. A portion of nitrogen dioxide in the atmosphere is converted to nitric acid (HNO3) and ammonium salts

Course Project Two GE 150 My observation that I looked at in project one was Air Pollution. 1. Prediction if hypothesis is correct. My prediction is that through air pollution we are depleting our ozone bubble that protects our earth. As the ozone depletes it allows higher concentrations of radiation into our atmosphere, thus increasing our overall temperature of the earth and its crust. As the earth’s crust heats up it causes more volcanic activity around the globe, cause the earth’s crust

The warming of the climate system is unequivocal, as is now evident from observations of increases in global average air and ocean temperatures, widespread melting of snow and ice, and rising global mean sea level. The Earth’s average surface temperature has risen by 0.76° C since 1850. Most of the warming that has occurred over the last 50 years is very likely to have been caused by human activities. Current research shows ‘the ozone layer deteriorating due to the release of pollution containing chemicals like chlorine and bromine. Seasonal variations cause higher indoor levels of VOC’s to accumulate from abated ventilation in the winter compared to other seasonal months. According to research “Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), chemicals found mainly in spray aerosols heavily used by industrialized nations for much of the past 50 years, are the primary culprits in ozone layer breakdown” CFCs make
