Is the movie better than the book? That is a question asked by those who have read Macbeth, and those who have thought about watching the Great Performances: Macbeth. Even though this is a simple yes or no question, the answer to this is complex in nature. This is apparent when comparisons are drawn between the film and the play; likewise, the comparison allows the audience of both works to see that the movie and the play are drastically different from one another. Moreover, the answer to this question

It was Thursday, September 25 at 8 P.M. when the St. Lawrence String Quartet came on the stage and blew my mind. The St. Lawrence String Quartet performed an ensemble of classics from Haydn, Verdi and Dvořák at the Twenty-third Annual Souren L. Chamichian Endowment Concert. The ensemble was triumphantly dramatic and emotionally rich with graceful phrasing, smooth transition and beautiful sound. The Staples Family Concert Hall was ecstatic as the St. Lawrence String Quartet showed their passion for

This recital was on the well-known French composer, Francis Poulenc. It featured two of his greatest songs to date, L’histoire de Babar and Sonata for Two Pianos. The recital was on October 6th at 7:30 p.m. in Blankenship Recital Hall. Dr. Elaine Harriss and Mr. Johnathan Vest were the pianists for this particular event. The recital hall was so beautiful. It had white walls and hardwood brown flooring. The chairs were arranged in rows of eight. People were standing up everywhere, and more people

Belle is not wearing a bow in her ponytail, instead she is wearing a loose single braid down her back. Neither is she wearing brown ballet flats as her shoe choice, she is wearing brown boots. This is a change that shows hegemonic masculinity. This scene portrays Belle as being less feminine than the 1991 version does. A bow and ballet flats portray a sense of femininity, while a braid and boots portray a sense of masculinity. The rhetor is aiming to make a progressive move from the older version

For my extra credit I chose to attend the Open Mic Night on campus at the Coffeehouse. The reason why I chose this instead of the Podcast was because I had never been to an Open Mic Night. I have watch many of 90’s movies with a scene that took place at one and had always wanted to check it out. To my surprise when I arrived there was mix of various ages that attended. I thought due to it being located on campus and not really in a “university” atmosphere that it would have been just St. Charles

I'm glad to get a chance to talk to you. Thank you so much for contacting me. What is it that inspired you to become an actress? Well, it's interesting because I'm from a really small town--in rural Manitoba. I've never really known anyone personally as an actor. The most famous people we met were hockey players. When my friends and I were in school, there was this traveling road show that would come to McCreary--the town I grew up in--and we would literally line up to see this live theater

The concert that I went to was the “Exxon Mobil Summer Symphony Nights: Scottish Fantasy”. It was at the Miller Outdoor Theatre. It was my first time attending a symphony concert. The outdoor theater is set up very nicely because at the bottom section they have seats which if you were able to get tickets early you got to sit there. The top section is on the mountain which people were able to take chairs or blankets to sit on the floor. I really like that. The environment overall was great. The people

composer Frédéric Chopin. My favorite song of professor Prencivil’s selections were “La Donna e Mobile” because is a song that tells a story about the tightly nature of women and their unstable emotions. Also, professor Princivil did a splendid performance because he put emotions and feelings together in this song, and I could perceive it because I got the

Since I was young I have been involved with dance. Due to this, stories and even a word by itself is translated into movement in my mind. I envision a dance in the creation of a story from Hint Fiction through a different medium for this reason. The similarity of having to analyze word content for this genre in order to understand the story applies for dance as well. Both of these mediums have an aspect of drawing from the material and connecting the dots in a way to try to understand the story.
