Appendix……………………………………………………………………………….…11-13 Introduction This paper aims at discussing the issue of teaching grammar through game activities, which derives its importance from the pursuit of excellence in language learning and teaching. At this point it is probably a good idea to start with some definitions of grammar, followed by the place of grammar in language teaching. In this context, researchers speak of the grammars of a language rather than of the grammar. Therefore, different methods of teaching a language will be presented and two of them will be discussed individually; that is to say, structural and communicative. What I would like to take into consideration here is that balance between the product and process or form and function. To take an example of how to achieve that balance in the field of language description, a proposition of an effective way to teach grammar will be presented; namely, games and game-like activities. In approaching games as a good way to teach grammar, some background information on it will be presented...

Introduction – Why We Selected The Body Shop 1.1. selection criteria - well-constructed brand identity & our interest In selecting our target company, we focused on finding one that has succeeded in building its distinctive brand image. Since a well-positioned brand gains the upper hands, companies try to differentiate itself and make customers acknowledge its benefits and feel emotionally involved. In this context, we think that the Body Shop has well constructed its brand identity. While competition has been deepening in cosmetic industry and most cosmetic brands are still implicitly conducting animal-testing, the Body Shop has sincerely kept its mission of ethical management and attracted customers. Second, we found that we are all interested in cosmetic brands because we ourselves are consumers of cosmetic companies and purchase their products regularly. Based on these conditions, our group chose 'The Body Shop', which has successfully established its originality with its unique characteristics. 1.2. The Body Shop and Its Missions Driven by the desire to nourish her two daughters with natural products, Anita Roddick established The Body Shop in 1976 in Brighton, England. Since then, the company has expanded...

...JET2-Task1 A.1.a Horizontal analysis Horizontal analysis is essentially an analysis on the trend of the financials of the company. It shows changes in the amounts of the amounts over a period of time. In the financial statement provided, the horizontal analysis is between years six and seven, and years seven and eight; respectively. When analyzing the income statement provided with the task, several strengths and weaknesses are very apparent. They will be broken down individually and analyzed separately. Horizontal analysis is calculated by using the formula below ("Horizontal Analysis," n.d.) Income Statement Revenue: Net sales between years 6 and 7 demonstrate a 33.3% increase or an increase in approximately $1.5 million. This is a strength because there were positive sales during this time frame. Positive sales are always a positive finding in business. However, sales between years 7 and 8 demonstrate a decrease in net sales of -15% or $897,000. This is a weakness due to the overall sales being down. Cost of Goods Sold between years 6 and 7 demonstrates an increase of 31.8% or $1,048,000. The costs associated with manufacturing goods are always going to be a big expense. While the cost associated may appear to be a weakness for the company, it actually demonstrates strength for the company. The reason being is the percent change in sales. It closely represents the increase in sales during the same period. If the sales number did not adequately correlate...

...CHAPTER-I INTRODUCTION 1.1 MEANING OF WORKING CAPITAL “Working Capital is the Life-Blood and Controlling Nerve Center of a business” Working capital (abbreviated WC) is a financial metric which represents operating liquidity available to a business, organization or other entity, including governmental entity. Along with fixed assets such as plant and equipment, working capital is considered a part of operating capital. Net working capital is calculated as current assets minus current liabilities. It is a derivation of working capital that is commonly used in valuation techniques such as DCFs (Discounted cash flows). If current assets are less than current liabilities, an entity has a working capital deficiency, also called a working capital deficit. A company can be endowed with assets and profitability but short of liquidity if its assets cannot readily be converted into cash. Positive working capital is required to ensure that a firm is able to continue its operations and that it has sufficient funds to satisfy both maturing short-term debt and upcoming operational expenses. The management of working capital involves managing inventories, accounts receivable and payable, and cash. Current assets and current liabilities include three accounts which are of special importance. These accounts represent the areas of the business where managers have the most direct impact: Accounts receivable (current asset) Inventory (current assets), Accounts payable (current liability) ...

...can say standard costing is a technique of costing, which also established control over costing. Standard cost can be defined “As a pre-determined cost which is calculated from management’s standard of efficient operation and relevant necessary expenditure. It may be used as a basis for price fixing and for control through variance analysis.” Hence we can say standard costs are pre-determined estimates of cost of a single unit or a number of units of a product service. Uses of Standard Cost: - 1. Use of standard cost is an effective way for planning and controlling costs. 2. Pricing decisions and decisions involving submission of quotations, answering tenders etc are also facilitated by the use of standard costs. 3. Identification and measurement of variances from standards have been made possible with the use of standard cost, with a view to improve performance or to correct loose standards, if any. 4. Facilitates management by exceptions. DEFINITION OF STANDARD COSTING Standard costing is defined by the I.C.M.A. London “As the preparation and uses of standard costs, their comparison with actual costs and the analysis of variance to their causes and point of incidence.” Hence we can say standard costing is a method of preparation of standards and their uses for comparison with actual costs by variance...

...The Role of Analysts and Designers The primary role of systems analysts and designers is, of course, to produce a computer system solution to a problem that meets the customer’s requirements. This task can easily be so absorbing in itself that there is seemingly no time left over for thinking about the non-technical issues surrounding the introduction of a new IT system, much less for setting up a people project to address them. So even if the people project is not driven by analysts, designers, or even IT managers, it needs their active support. Many of the tasks carried out by analysts in the early stages of an IT development project have outputs that the people project will need to draw on. For example, the process of creating data models and data flow diagrams may raise questions of data ownership, which need to be fed to the people project to resolve, perhaps through a redefinition of rolesand responsibilities or the introduction of a new procedure. Likewise, if systems analysts have done a detailed assessment of costs and benefits, this will give the people project some idea of the messages they can use to sell the new IT system to users and managers. Analysts can also draw on the people project for valuable help in areas such as human–computer interface design, discussed in Chapter 15. The look and feel of the HCI can be one of the most significant factors in determining a user’s response to a system. The people project can help create the conditions in which ...

...An Empirical Study of Pricing Strategies in an Online Market with High-Frequency Price Information Sara Fisher Ellison M.I.T. Christopher M. Snyder Dartmouth College June 2010 Abstract: We study competition among a score of firms participating in an online market for a commodity-type memory module. Firms were able to adjust prices continuously and prices determined how the firms were ranked and listed (lowest price listed first), with better ranks contributing to firms' sales. Using a year's worth of hourly data, we document the pricing dynamics, cycles, and other patterns in this market. We then characterize empirically the factors which drive price changes, noting clear evidence of firm heterogeneity in the choice of pricing strategy. Finally, we develop a framework for simulating counterfactual market settings, using the simulations to examine counterfactuals involving different mixes of firms according to pricing strategies.
