INTRODUCTION: Women’s Empowerment is a global issue in determining the status of women. The position and status of women all over the world has risen incredibly in the 20th century. It may be because of the awareness among women. We know that it has been very low in 18th & 19th centuries in India and other Countries. Women were treated like “objects”. In the name of marriage they can be bought and sold. Their dependence on men folk was total. But now women started to learn the possible ways to be independent in the society. Their monetary independence led them to the way to empowerment. Robert Blood (1965) observes, “Employment emancipates women from domination by their Husbands and secondarily, raises their Daughters from inferiority to their Brothers” (Blood and Wolfe, 1965). According to Dr. Nafi’s Sadik, the former Executive Director of UNFPA “Women are the heart of development”. Women are the agent to bring about better lives for billions of people in the developing countries as well as developed countries to bring sustainable development. The main...

...Subaltern’s Love Song Paper Robert A. Powell ENG 125-Introduction to Literature Ms. Maria Rasimas December 14, 2012 Subaltern’s Love Song Paper I have chosen to write my paper on John Betjeman’s poem “A Subaltern’s Love Song.” This poem is a humorous look at a romantic relationship from the poet’s point of view, who is ultimately the speaker as well. It is a satire and an imaginative work, which I will elaborate on further in the paper. I will cover the analytical approach on this poem, evaluate the meaning of it and discuss how it captured my interest. The poem is actually a satire because he wrote it about a woman who he really was in love with in real life and ended up being friends with for over fifty years. Satire is the literary art that calls attention to the difference between what a particular thing should be and what it actually is. It can also be the way a particular person should behave and how that person is actually behaving. The writer of satire exaggerates or criticizes such conditions, but blends ridicule with gentle humor. This often intends to encourage change or improvement (Clungston, R. W. 2010.) He also uses imagination in this poem by the way he shapes the setting of the poem. Imagination is the human power that shapes artistic expression; it enables a writer’s work to become an expression of meaning in our world and allows readers to engage in identifying with what...

...PESTLE Analysis of the Mars Bar Political Nestle and Master Foods with its main brand the Mars bar (Nestle again – why are they here?) is receiving criticism for sourcing it chocolate from the West African countries like the Ivory Coast where the cocoa trade is being used to fund conflict to the tune of £60 million a year. The Ivory Coast provides some 40% of the world’s cocoa, since 2002 it has been torn apart by civil war. The allegations are that the profit from cocoa has been directly siphoned into government funds and used to finance their conflict with the rebels. In addition the rebels extorted money directly from the industry trying to transport the cocoa through its region. Gentle pressure is being applied on Mars to identify how much of its product contains cocoa from the Ivory Coast and strive to become free from “Conflict Cocoa”. (Independent News and Media Ltd 2007) Sustainability and fair trade with regard to cocoa has become a political “hot potato” with the manufacturers of the Mars bar being criticised for employing tactics that puts cocoa farmers into virtual slavery, forcing them to turn more of their land over to production of cocoa rather than traditional arable farming and then making entire communities reliant on the cocoa market. The power of the global conglomerate can then manipulate the price of cocoa, ultimately depriving the producer of a fair price for the raw ingredient. The close association of the Mars bar as a product of the United States...

...and policy planning and reform Human resource development, e.g. access to medical knowledgeR&D for e-health products International collaboration Despite some work by the various Ministries on defining their domestic requirements in terms of electronic health records , e-prescriptions, etc., there has been little real progress on e-health in Korea and many healthcare facilities lack appropriate ICT based information tools. According to a consumer survey in 2007 the poor level of informatization in healthcare this apparent lack of progress can be attributed to the fact that e–health was not seen as part of the overall e-government strategy and the structure and parlous state of the health sector in Korea following the rapid introduction of universal health insurance. Following the reorganization of government ministries in 2008 (under the new government administration); e-health attention has begun to focus on e-health as an important growth industry for the Korean economy (like e-government and e-cities before it). Consequently, relevant government ministries now have more concrete and robust action plans for realization of e-health in effect. Once again the hand of the Chaebol can be seen to be at work. Thestrategic planning by the e-Health Association between 2004 and 2007 has been unashamedly...

...Introduction The issue of gender stereotyping is a prevalent global concern. When people apply gender assumptions to others, regardless of evidence to the contrary, they are perpetuating gender stereotyping. Many people recognize the dangers of gender stereotyping; yet continue to make these types of generalizations. Traditionally, the female stereotypic role is to marry and have children. She is to put her family's welfare before her own; be loving, compassionate, nurturing, and sympathetic; and find time to be sexy and feel beautiful. The male stereotypic role is to be the financial provider. He is also to be assertive, competitive, independent, career‐focused, and always initiate sex. These sorts of stereotypes can prove to be harmful; they can suppress individual expression and creativity, as well as hinder personal and professional growth. Children learn gender stereotypes from socialization. Gender socialization is the process where children learn to develop behaviours regarding what constitutes being a male or female. Beginning at a young age, parents, school, peers and the media highly influence the gender behaviours children replicate and ultimately internalize. My compilation of media entries focuses on the progression and adaptation of gender stereotypes in the media. Over time, perceptions of gender roles have changed, causing the media to modify traditional marketing tactics to conform to them. I chose to organize my entries into three sections....

...The Loss of a Life Partner The Loss of a Life Partner Introduction Feelings of loss are very personal because only the person involved in the loss knows what is significant to them. People commonly associate certain losses with strong feelings of grief. The solitude is always agonizing, especially for someone who has never lived alone. Many people lose their spouses each year. Because the modern society has few mourning rituals other than the memorial service, they may find themselves alone and disconsolate just when they are most in need of comfort. Bibliography INTRODUCTION What is Recession? A recession is a contraction phase of the business cycle. The official agency in charge of declaring that the economy is in a state of recession is the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER). They define recession as a “A period of falling economic activity spread across the economy, lasting more than a few months, normally visible in real GDP, real income, employment, industrial production, and wholesale-retail sales.” This is normally visible in real GDP, real income, employment, industrial production, and wholesale-retail sales. For this reason, the official designation of recession may not come until after we are in a recession for six months or even longer. Some economists also suggest that a recession occurs when the natural growth rate in GDP is less than the average of 2%. Typically, a normal economic recession lasts for approximately 1 year. The newspapers in America often quote theThumbRulethat...
