...A Memorable Event The average human will go through billions of events throughout they're lifetime. Some events vary compared to others, some being more memorable, life changing, or forgotten. Regardless of the events, whether big or small, the human brain uses it to shape new events in the future. While the individual will forget some easily, others will remain engraved in the heart of an individual. The most powerful memories remain in the heart leaving often unforgettable images and events for a longer period of time, and probably the whole of their life, and form an unforgettable memory, are among the most memorable events in the life of a person. Deeply engraved events have a profound influence on the life of the individual. Nonetheless, some teach lessons, while others are memories of happiness and love. Above all, the most memorable events are those that are life changing. This essay focuses on a major memorable event that happened to me at a quite tender age, and which taught me an important lesson, which I still find of use and influence up to this stage of my life. If I close my eyes and think about my life since my childhood period to the present stage of my life, I recount many things and major events that I have experienced. However, it is possible that these are not all the experiences I have had in my life, as I did not master the less important events. There are those events that I treasure, and find hard to forget, while others are mere memories of the past...

...Jayquan S. Salmond Significant Event Final Paper 28 November 2014 Psychology 105 The purpose of this paper is to share a significant event I've had in my childhood. The event I would like to share is when I was in the fifth grade. This event in my life became very world-shattering when I was eighteen years old in Navy boot camp. When I was in the fifth grade I have had the most undesirable opportunity of seeing a little boy drown in our city pool. Actually, I was taught how to swim when I was in the third grade. After that fifth grade summer, I was afraid of the deep end of the pool. Seeing the little boy drown at the age of ten did not give me the desire to swim in any depth pass my waist line. As stated in the textbook Introduction to Psychology, “Cognitive behavior focuses on the processes such as memory, thought or reasoning” (Page 10). As I stood on the diving platform at the pool in Navy boot camp, my mind went back eight years to where I saw the little boy drown in the city pool. Deep inside my mind I knew I was trained well and I knew without a doubt that the instructors were highly trained in not letting me drown in that pool. However, I was still in fear that I would drown like the little boy did eight years ago in the city pool. I approached this situation with what psychology calls cognitive perspective. The memory of the kid drowning in the pool had my focused on only one thing, I may drown rather then I can swim and I will make it. How did...

...Defining Moments in My Life Most people had at least one defining moment in their life, whenever it is getting their first pair of glasses to graduating elementary school or getting their first pet. Those moments are the ones who define us and help to shape our personalities and decisions. We all had pleasant events happen to us at some point in our lives, however we also had unpleasant and regretful events happening to us, whenever it was our fault or not. We all have a moment in your lives that we can surely say it changed our lives. So far, my life have been defined by my decisions and occurrences which helped me shape me into the person I am now. My life has been defined by unpleasant events which happened around my surroundings, the decisions I have made over the course of my life and the effect of others decisions over me....

...PSY202: Adult Development and Life Assessment 1 September 2014 Reflecting on the Past: Brainstorming Activity Growing up and all through life you experience life changing events, some are positive and some are negative, but they all have a direct effect on your life. I am going to discuss five life events that were significant to me and how I feel because of the experience. The greatest event I have experienced would have to be the birth of my three daughters. I didn’t know it was possible to love someone more then I love myself until I gave birth to each one of them. Words cannot express the range of emotions you feel knowing that you created a baby. My daughters have changed my life immensely and I don’t know where I would be without them. Watching them grow up and become who they are is one of the best blessings I have been given. From the day I was born I have always been a “papa’s girl”. Being the first born grandchild, we formed a bond that lasted thirty-one years of my life. Some of my favorite memories growing up involved my grandfather from camping in the back yard to fishing, snowmobiling and remodeling their house. My grandfather taught me how to be independent so that I didn’t have to depend on a man to fix anything. The morning that he died was the worst day of my life, it felt like a piece of me died with him. It has been a year now and I still catch myself picking up the phone to ask him how to fix something or to tell him about my day. At the age of twenty-seven...

...or the definition of it? Stress is “Any event or environmental stimulus that we respond to because we perceive it as challenging or threatening” (Pastorino 504). In simpler terms, any event that a person encounters that could be difficult or threatening can give an individual stress. All of our reactions to it differ to every type of stressor. Our bodily reactions are also included to how we react to stress. After that, we deal with the stress by coping. Stressors can be divided into sub categories like catastrophes, major life events, daily hassles, and conflicts. Major life events...

...Essay 1 Draft 2 The artifact I chose to write about is Montclair State University’s Business Administration Major; with the focus in Sports, Events and Tourism marketing. This major helps student expands their knowledge and social skills revolving around sports, events and tourism. In this essay you will see comparisons and direct quotes from Mark Edmundson, Michael S. Roth, and James Baldwin. I want to show the connection of how important it is to find what you love and how money should be a factor in your undergrad study but not the only factor because you’ll be doing whatever you major in for the rest of your life. The business school’s mission statement for the program; “The Sports, Events, and Tourism Marketing program provides students the knowledge and skill sets to be successful in the growing workforce of the sports, events, and tourism sector. This program incorporates marketing concepts along with management skills to provide students with a diversified and competitive edge.” I was able to talk to a student who was studying my artifact. I asked him, “ are you in your study for the money or because you actually love what you’re going to do for the rest of your life?” he replied, “ I do like what I’m going to do, but I know there is a lot of money involved.” After talking to a student who was enrolled in this major, left me with the question, “ Is college about finding what you love or making a lot of money?” In class we had discussed the characterization of students...

...Word count: 803 Setting up My Expectations: Life after College My days in college as an English language student made me recognize the best things about literature and the art of writing. It was soul enriching, whenever I read various literary texts or critiques, and discovered some established writers in the country where I live. These writers all had something in common: They were humbled by their respective experiences of achieving success in an industry where writers are now less valued as builders of society. Initially, some writers had secretarial or other jobs not particularly appropriate for English majors. Some were fortunate enough to work as editors or writers. While some of these situations saddened me, I felt proud of those who patiently worked hard to earn a living and finally did make it as professors of literature. I have known some English professors who went to graduate school for their Master’s degree in Education major in Literature while teaching, showing their undying passion for the field. I was very lucky to grow up in a family that had the financial capability and resources to support my college education and would also be able to support my desired Master’s degree later on. Having this financial capability is a privilege. I could not easily throw away this opportunity to further my studies. I view this opportunity as a stepping stone to helping me become a literary scholar, professor and researcher. I understand that the way to the top is straight...

...How vulnerable am I to stress and Stressful events in my life. Based off the two assessments, it showed how stressed I was and couldn’t handle it. I know in dealt with stress in the past and also dealing with it right now. I try to find many ways with coping with my stress by exercising or doing other things to reduce the excessive tension. The term stress is the response of individuals to stressors. Stressors are events that threaten individuals and tax their coping abilities. My coping abilities were threaten twice over a year ago. For Instance, I had major damages to my vehicle where I couldn’t drive for almost 2 months. I didn’t cope with it very well because the only thing was through my mind how I was going to get back and forth to work and school. On a daily, I started to concern myself more on how I was going to get the money to get the car fixed. By doing that made things worst. The second stressor was being unemployed for 6 months. At times I did well with it and other times I didn’t cope with it well. I wasn’t worried because I thought I could always go back to my previous job in 3 months and was fine financially. Then I found out we were moving once again and that to concern to me because my mom didn’t have enough to handle the moving by herself. I stressed because, I dislike seeing my mom struggle and embraced being the man of the house. The concern for me getting a job increased When I was faced with stressors, my body readies itself to handle the assault through...

...Compared to Irene Gut Opdyke, my life is as simple and easy as cracking an egg. Although I struggle with my disabled mother, handle school work, work as a waitress, and maintain involvement in numerous extracurriculars, my daily toils are menial and forgettable. The imagery of Irene’s graphic experiences will leave a stain in my memory forever, and I can’t picture living life normally with those events in my past. Irene’s courage and sacrifice shown throughout her tale are inspirational and astonishing. I first noticed Irene’s courage when she willingly volunteered to go with the Polish army toward the German front and work as an assistant nurse. She had already seen the carnage of the entire city of Radom, but she risked more to help...

...argument or two with their parents over the course of time but does understand how that the adolescent stage of a person’s life is this most important stage of their life. I believe personally that parents should allow their teenagers the freedom to make their own decisions because of the circumstances that will be soon to come. I am writing this essay to describe why teenagers should be able to express their rights as adults. Either the term close restriction or freedom of expression, of the young teenage mind is meant for some than the other. We are all lucky that we live in a country where freedom becomes a right and I believe that along with conducting themselves responsibly that teenagers should be able to express themselves and be able to experience the freedom they will receive in adulthood, which is expressed into greater detail in the news article “Psychologist Explains Teens’ Risky Decision-Making Behavior” from sciencedaily.com which elaborates on why teenagers have the tendencies that they have. Well as anyone can relate everyone we know in one way or another was raised differently from each other, including myself in their matter. But we all have one thing in common, we feel that at times it is wrong for a certain person to be dictate our lives as if we had no way of being responsible. Being a teenager is one of the greatest times of your life and it is meant to be lived to the best possible way before adulthood changes your entire mindset, but it should be welcomed...

...Significant Events Intro to Psychology 8/25/2012 One significant event that changed my life before I reached adulthood was my grandmother passing away. My grandmothers passing definitely played a life-shaping effect on my life. My grandmother passing was something that was very unexpected and shocking. This was something that no one in the family expected and left a lasting impression on me and my siblings. The reason my grandmothers passing was so significant event was that before her passing I was heading down a bad path in life and associating with negative factors. While in last days before her passing speaking with her and promising to change my life was something that has molded me into the person I am today. Now as I think back on the event, I believe this event to be the most accurate memory that I have from my past. But the more I think about it and try to relive the memory the more I find myself questioning the details of the event. When I first thought about the memory years later I recalled the conversation that we have happening in the evening, when in actuality our conversation took place in the morning during visitation hours. I also believed that I was the only person in the room during our conversation when truth is that my two cousins were also there. Even though these details I believed to be true were false, the actual conversation between my grandmother and I, I remember clear. I actually can recall the conversation word for word with tone...

...Anderson Logistics Lets the Game Begin Now this article caught my interest because I love me some football and I never really picture football and logistics as a couple until I read and really thought about how both go hand and hand. I forgot that everything you do in life that you want done right takes preparation and logistics is a major for of preparation. Before the high-profile athletes and rebid fans arrive at a major professional sports event, superstar logisticians and planners perform their own feats of greatness to ensure the big game goes off without a hitch. So after reading this comment, the thought of the NBA, NHL, MLB, all of the NCAA’s sports as well as any other sport that is played all have people, mainly logisticians there in the background making sure that all of the big games and events goes off without a glitch. I know I would love to work for some major NFL franchise doing logistics. That would be the highlight of my life. Making it to the final contest that determines a professional sports championship takes practice, hard work, and determination – whether you’re and athlete competing or part of the team charged with planning the momentous event. The whole world will be watching, and the slightest oversight could have game – changing repercussions. Organizers of the Super Bowl in Arlington, Texas, faced challenges including frozen roads, ice falling from the stadium roof; events spread 30mmiles apart, and pre-sold temporary seating that was...

...opening scene sets up everything for the movie and how the story is told. 2. The non-chronological order was very effective in The Social Network. The case and the past events went hand and hand I believe. Whatever they were talking about in the case, they played the past event to show what they were talking about. The non-chronological order was probably the best order because it helps you understand the movie better than if it was told in chronological order I believe. Smart choice by the director part to go with this order. 3. The roundest character in the Social Network in my eyes is Sean Parker. He is full of character. Throughout the movie he shows that he is funny, intentive, sarcastic and full of life. He believes in living his life on edge by partying, drinking and doing drugs that gets him in trouble, but he is also very creative. The flattest character in the Social Network in my opinion is Eduardo Saverin. I think he is predictable and you know what to expect from him in the movie. Like when something happens you know how he is going to react in that situation. Like when Mark diluted his shares to 0.3% from 34%, Sean called security because they knew how Eduardo was going to react. Many people would disagree with me but he is just flat to me. 4. The three most important major events of the Social Network are Erica...
