Americans are more stressed than ever before. And they are also eating a poor diet, while not getting enough exercise on a regular basis. These factors are having a serious impact on their health because they are leading to added inflammation in the body, which contributes to the development of many diseases.

To reverse the damage, doctors recommend that lifestyle changes be made and a special AIP diet be followed to help the body heal. Want to learn more about what inflammation is and how the AIP diet may be able to help? Then, keep reading to find the answers to the most common questions that patients ask their doctor about them.

What is Inflammation?

Before explaining the concept of the AIP diet, a person has to first understand what …show more content…
Rest and hot and warm packs on the area are all that a person really needs.

However, sometimes, a person can end up having ongoing inflammation that doesn't stop like it should. This is often because they have developed an autoimmune disease though.

Autoimmune diseases are problematic because they can cause the body to start attacking healthy tissue instead of trying to heal itself from bacteria, viruses, and wounds. Some people believe that food sensitivities are part of the reason that they have this type of overreaction in their immune system response. So they developed the AIP diet to help put the condition into a state of remission.

There are too many questionable practices in the AIP diet to consider it a healthy diet for everyone to follow. The books that have been written on the diet suggest that the main reason that people have autoimmune system disorders is because of the foods that they eat. But while foods can be a contributing factor if a person is allergic to them, medical evidence suggests that many autoimmune diseases have nothing to do with a person's food intake.

Also, while the AIP diet suggests that it can help put inflammation into remission, this is rarely possible. Many people with inflammation have to take special medications to help suppress their immune system response, so their body will stop attacking its healthy tissue.

The risk of a person developing a vitamin deficiency from avoiding so many different food groups for such a long time is also problematic because it is unnecessary. Anyone who is concerned that they have inflammation because of food allergies can see a doctor who specializes in this field of medicine.

Allergists can do a simple scratch test on a person's skin to tell if they are allergic right away. And if they are, the doctor can often help them overcome the allergy by slowly introducing a small amount of it into their bloodstream through injections over several months. This helps normalize their immune system response to
