1. Phở - What is it? * Phở: A Vietnamese traditional noodle. I think some of you might have tried it before? * It includes 2 main ingredients: (1) water of flavored stock (2) rice noodle. There are two ways by which Vietnamese people have Pho everyday: (1) Going restaurant where the chef cooks and serves at your table (2) If you don’t have enough time, short break between morning and afternoon shift, you could buy instant pho, a dried pho packed in a plastic bowl, at any grocery store. Then pouring boiled water and put in microwave in 5 mins. In Vietnam, the most famous instant Pho brand – name s Vifon * and that s the product I will plan to do my own business in 2 target markets: America and UK.

2. The reason to choose UK and US be 2 targeted market
In fact, Pho is less well-known than Thai or Chinese noodle. (1) In the aftermath of the Vietnam War, Vietnamese emigrant brought pho to many countries. UK and US are the two countries have the largest Vietnamese community and Pho become popularized there. Pho is listed at number 28 on "World's 50 most delicious foods" compiled by CNN Go in 2011.
(2) Dining trend of the Western moves from tasty food, fastfood to the other that are healthier. This s also advantage of not only Vietnamese food but also Oriental one. In London, Shoreditch is the most crowded entertaining zone where a lot of young people come there for pub, club and restaurant. Before 2000’s, most of the restaurants are fastfood but since last 15 years, they are replaced by Thai’s or Vietnamese’s one.
In the United States, pho began to enter the mainstream during the 1990s, as relations between the U.S. and Vietnam improved. During the 2000s, pho restaurants in the United States generated US$500 million in annual revenue, according to an unofficial estimate (Loh, Laura (13 May 2002). "The Next Ethnic Dish of the Day: Vietnamese Pho". Los Angeles Times (Tribune Company). Retrieved 27 May 2013.)
(3) Profitability from exchange rate
(4) Government encouragement 3. Product adjustment: * Segment market: people who love Pho but do not have enough time go restaurant. * Location: California and Texas + office financial centre. * Brand name: Vifon Pho – Chicken, Vifon Pho – Beef * Feature: Less Chilly

...Journal of Banking & Finance 27 (2003) 1297–1321 www.elsevier.com/locate/econbase Corporate governance, dividend payout policy, and the interrelation between dividends, R&D, and capital investment Klaus Gugler * Department of Economics, University of Vienna, WP No. 9803, Br€nnerstrasse 72, 1210 Vienna, Austria u Received 12 October 2000; accepted 5 November 2001 Abstract This paper investigates the relationship between dividends and the ownership and control structure of the firm. For a panel of Austrian firms over the 1991/99 period, we find that statecontrolled firms engage in dividend smoothing, while family-controlled firms do not. The latter choose significantly lower target payout levels. Consistently, state-controlled firms are most reluctant and family-controlled firms are least reluctant to cut dividends when cuts are warranted. The dividend behavior of bank- and foreign-controlled firms lies in between stateand family-controlled firms. This is consistent with the expected ‘‘ranking’’ of information asymmetries and managerial agency costs. The above results hold for firms with good investment opportunities. We find that firms with low growth opportunities optimally disgorge cash irrespective of who controls the firm. Ó 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved. Date: 06/03/2013 Executive summary Every day when reading the financial newspapers or news on TV, I notice that the bad debt still has been the big problem of many economics. Bad debt increases which influences to the bank first, and then to the all of the economy. So, I want to do the research about the Credit Risk Management because in my opinion, this is the way to reduce bad debt effectively. In this report, I have researched about 3 models in Credit Risk Management: CreditMetrics, KMV, and Credit Risk Plus. In each model, I explain and analysis the case study from other document sources. Besides, I also compare and contrast the features or the use of them. In addition, critical thinking is applied in this report, when I have found the other idea, from opponent opinion to agreement. Because of the limitation of knowledge and timing, my report still has had many mistakes. Therefore, if I could do this topic again, may be in the dissertation of the master course, I will make it better, with my experience from AIC subject. Earning Management Study-Oil and Gas Industry

...Earnings Management Study Oil & Gas Industry Abstract This study mainly focused on the earnings management in oil and gas industry and we used Jones model to detect discretionary accruals in the subject companies. Specifically, we examined three oil and gas sample companies that have been required to restate their financial reports due to the oil reserve overestimation. After running the regression and comparing statistics with other oil and gas companies, we found that the sample companies do revise oil reserves to manipulate the DDA expenses, thus achieving their goals of earnings management. Some recommended auditing guidance to detect such manipulation were given at the end. Introduction/Assumption Earnings management, in accounting, is the act of intentionally influencing the process of financial reporting to obtain some private gain. Earnings management involves the manipulation of company earnings towards a pre-determined target. This target can be motivated by a preference for more stable earnings, in which case management is said to be carrying out income smoothing. Management may also overstate the income for personal interests. Other possible motivations for earnings management include the need to maintain the levels of certain accounting ratios due to debt covenants, boost earnings to beat analyst targets, or intentionally understate the earnings to get rid of the...

Mw Petroleum Corporation B

...Harvard Business School 9 - 2 9 5 -029 Rev. November 21, 1994 MW Petroleum Corporation (A) In late 1990, executives, engineers, and financial advisors working for Amoco Corporation and Apache Corporation began serious discussions about the sale to Apache of MW Petroleum Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Amoco Production Company. Amoco had transferred to MW certain of its own assets that it regarded as non-strategic. MW's size, location, and operations were all very attractive to Apache, which had grown nearly 30% per year since the mid-1980s, largely through acquisitions. The transaction being discussed with Amoco would be Apache's largest to date. It would more than double the size of Apache's current operations, as well as its reserves of oil and natural gas. By the end of January 1991, Apache's executives and advisors were sufficiently familiar with the properties in MW to begin refining their estimates of operating and financial performance in order to structure a formal offer. Apache's chief financial officer, Mr. Wayne Murdy, knew that financing would be a challenge, given the size of the proposed transaction. In fact, the availability of external financing, bank debt in particular, was likely to impose some practical limits on both the amount and form of consideration that Apache could offer to Amoco. It was essential that Apache carefully evaluate MW, both the whole and its parts, and study the likely patterns of cash flows so that some...

...foIntro to Linear Programming Motivation: A baker has 150 kg flour, 22 kg sugar, and 27.5 kg of butter to make the following two type of cakes: 1 dozen of this cake needs 3 kg flour 1 kg sugar 1 kg butter 1 dozen of this cake needs 6 kg flour 0.5 kg sugar 1 kg butter Profit from 1 dozen is $20 Profit from one dozen is $30 How many dozen from each cakes should the baker make to maximize his profit? Geometric solution: Geometric solution: The contour of z with the highest function value touches the feasible set at the point B. To find the coordinates of B we intersect the flour and butter border: 3x1+6x2=150 x1+x2=27.5 and get x1=5 and x2=22.5. Hence the maximum profit is 775 dollars. x1 C x2 Ä 450 x1 x2 x1 x1 x2 0 x2 0 2x1 C 3x2 3x1 C 2x2 Ä 1200 x1 C 2x2 Ä 800 x1 C x2 Ä 450 0; x2 0: Setting upx a problem: 1 x1 x2 3;500x1 C 3;000x2 .x1 ; x2 / x1 C x2 Ä 450 x1 x2 x1 x1 0 12;000x1 C 4;000x2 x2 x2 0 12;000x1 C 4;000x2 2x1 C 3x2 3x1 C 2x2 Ä 1200 4;000x1 C 4;000x2 x1 C 2x2 Ä 800 x1 C x2 Ä 450 0; x2 1;000x1 C 5;000x2 0: x1 x1 x2 x1 32;000 20;000 x1 3;500x1 C 3;000x2 12;000x1 C 4;000x2 4;000x1 C 4;000x2 1;000x1 C 5;000x2 0; x2 0: x1 Solution: 48;000 0 x2 0 48;000 32;000 20;000 x2 3;500x1 C 3;000x2 .x1 ; x2 / 12;000x1 C 4;000x2 12;000x1 C 4;000x2 48;000 4;000x1 C 4;000x2 32;000 1;000x1 C 5;000x2 x1 ...
