...Morehead State University | Accreditation and Evaluation Summary | IMS 421 | Marvin Stevenson 1-28-2015 | 1. Differentiate between programmatic and institutional accreditation. Continuing one’s education above the high school is an important decision and a life changing event. Therefore attending a college that offers accredited degrees can make a huge difference in a person’s future. A college program that is not accredited can mean, you are not eligible for federal financial aid, may not be able to transfer credits to another college or university, and you may not be able to attain an appropriate professional licensure in your field. This is why it is important for students to be aware of the type of accreditation offered by schools or the lack of accreditation missing by them. Therefore it is important to know the difference be the two types of accreditations. An institutional accredited program achieves its accreditation through representatives from dedicated accrediting institutions evaluate colleges and universities. This is a means for colleges and universities to assess their own performance and compare themselves to other schools. ...healthcare providers must ensure that all aspects of the patient’s care inclusive of the body, mind and spirit are addressed. Healthcare personnel provide care to a culturally and religiously diverse people. Healthcare personnel must take this diversity into account. This paper will examine three less known faiths- Buddhist, Hindu, and Islam and compare them with Christianity and discuss their differences and commonalities. This paper will discuss the findings and the insight the author has gained through a series of interviews with the people of these three religions. Faith Diversity and the Healthcare Provider: Final Draft Introduction Patients’ emotional and spiritual needs are not disengaged from the patients’ physical and physiological needs but are considered an integral component of their recovery. There is evidence in medical literature that suggests a strong relationship between spirituality and medicine; a survey conducted shows ninety-five percent of Americans believe in God and research shows that forty percent of patients feel that physicians should discuss pertinent religious issues; however only eleven percent of physicians do (Anandarajah & Hight, 2001, p. 81). The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare (JCHAO) has acknowledged that patients “psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural values affect how they respond to their care” (Clark, Drain, & Malone, 2003,...

Phone: 206-439-3800 x3839 E-mail: jht@cwu.edu Abstract Internships are a popular element used to enhance accounting education. Although previous studies have considered internships, many have addressed enhancement of subsequent academic and professional performance. The purpose of this paper is broader and examines several characteristics of accounting internships: the frequency of participation, eligibility requirements, process for securing internships, level of participation, availability and amount of academic credit, area of assignments, nature of post-internship requirements, and benefits to students. Two random samples, one in 1998 and one in 2003, of 100 accounting programs were analyzed in the study. For each program selected, the survey was mailed to accounting program administrators. Responses were collected by fax. The results of this study should be of interest to accounting students, faculty program administrators, and practitioners. Gaining real-life knowledge of accounting tasks and obtaining insight regarding career planning were the two most important benefits identified. Future research should consider the perceptions of accounting students and practitioners...
